Chapter 30 - Loyalty System

After Allen finished speaking several notifications popped into view.

[Glorious Fire Mage(Edward Asher) has seen you stand your ground and respects you more. (+5 Loyalty)]

[Congratulations!]

[Glorious Fire Mage(Edward Asher) has reached a loyalty past (100) and it is now very difficult to lower it so long as you don't backtrack on the words that brought such loyalty!]

[Glorious Fire Mage(Vita Ester) has begun to fear you greatly. (+15 Loyalty)]

[Congradulations!]

[Glorious Fire Mage(Vita Ester) loyalty has gone above (80) and has risen from (Friendly) to (Exalted). She will now follow your orders absolutely.]

[Glorious Fire Mage(Harlet Griffin) feels great trepidation to you. (+5 Loyalty)]

[Glorious Fire Mage(Rosa Palma) feels great trepidation to you. (+5 Loyalty)]

[Glorious Fire Mage(Rosaleen) feels great trepidation to you. (+5 Loyalty)]

[Glorious Fire Mage(Talon) feels great trepidation to you...]

Seeing almost everyone reaching loyalty 100 again Allen let out a sigh of relief as he now understood more about the loyalty system. Knowing he might have to set hard leaders in the future he kept in mind this interaction.

Focusing back on the notifications he noticed the second person who had reached above 100 loyalty. Knowing Aza might struggle a little with controlling the mages who don't want to cooperate...*cough* Vita *cough* he spoke out to no one in particular, "Edward, as I have a large number of lower leveled fire mages, you will aid Aza to make sure everyone follows orders. Still, Aza's word comes first as she is the designated leader."

A man spoke out from the crowd, "Lord! I will follow your orders!" Looking at the man Allen noticed he was slightly hiding as he moved close to the Great Fire Mages who had yet to leave the room.

It was also then that Allen remembered he hadn't seen any loyalty changes in the Great Fire Mages, only the Glorious Fire Mages. Unsure of what that meant he simply sent everyone out of the room.

Thinking about it deeply, he couldn't find out why things were as they were now, so he decided to look at the Universal Chat. After searching for a while he found a few mentioning loyalty from some Lords that weren't human.

[Can anyone tell me why these damn demons can't seem to follow orders? I get their loyalty starts out at 50, but I AM THE LORD!]

[Why do Dwarves lose loyalty so easily?! I can't make alcohol day one, so give me a break! Ugg-]

[How are others dealing with loyalty of their troops?]

[Troop loyalty? Why do you need to worry? Just make sure they aren't in constant danger, and have good food with the basic house you were given you can keep their loyalty fine. Are you doing something wrong?]

[...Then how come these Elves lose loyalty like there won't be a tomorrow?]

Seeing many problems he didn't see any situation that seemed to relate to him. Turning to the Human Chat, Allen soon found some people who had a situation that related to him.

[Hey does anyone have food? I can barely feed myself and my troops are losing loyalty!]

[I miss my home. At least there I didn't have to worry if the people around me were loyal...]

[Hey I realized that normal type troops only really care about food and shelter! So long as they aren't enhanced they are usually considered to be peasants and don't care about complicated manners!]

The more he read the more he learned about the difficulty of losing loyalty so long as you don't have enough food. Checking his supplies he realized he only had around 22,000 units of food. The giant wolves need 2,000 per month to be sustained and he doesn't know if the larger wolves require more food, but all of them together would require 42,000! All of that doesn't even consider the other units he has more of!

Daily, all the Giant wolves eat 1,400 units of food, the Dire wolves eat 3-5 units of food so long as they are active. That is 350 units of food daily at the high end! Although that doesn't sound like much, it is 2,500 units weekly! All wolves together including the various types make a total of 16,600 a week!

Humans eat just as much as the wolves do making the 150 humans eat 5,200 a week! All together, Allen could barely keep everyone fed and happy for a single week!

*Author's Note*

*I spent far too long calculating this and researching how much bear and venison meat compares... I regret everything... So instead just know all wolves and humans now need a base of 3 units of food to stay satiated, but 5 units while doing a lot keeps the units strong. The squirrels eat the food they forage and I will never calculate them.

*I hate my desire to have accuracy that most people will skip...

Worrying about food Allen wondered when he could summon new units again. As he looked at the magic circle to see how long he would have to wait until the next summoning. Of course, in his mind, it was simply one week from now since he had just summoned some mages recently. It was then he realized something strange.

[Glorious Human Fire Mage Summoning Circle (Upgradable) (Immobile)]

[Gathers Mana to summon 10 Glorious Human Fire Mages every Month.]

[Recruits Available: 0]

[Recruit Requirements: 8,500 wood, 2,000 stone, 1,500 Iron]

[Upgrade Requirements: 850,000 wood, 200,00 Stone, 150,000 Iron]

[Special Effect: All units summoned will start as completely loyal.]

He had stopped paying attention to the summoning circles after the Earth Mages came out with almost the same information except for bigger numbers for recruit requirements and upgrade requirements. Now it showed he needed to wait an entire month before he could recruit again.

Seeing this he realized it was most likely a way of balancing things. After all the powerful giants could only be recruited 5 at a time, but humans and wolves are always 10 at a time. If he could summon infinitely every week no matter how powerful the new recruits were, it would truly be broken.

After realizing this he quickly checked all the other summoning circles.

[Giant Wind Wolf Summoning Circle (Upgradable) (Immobile)]

[Gathers Mana to summon 5 Giant Wind Wolves every two weeks.]

[Recruits Available: 0]

[Recruit Requirements: 700 wood, 500 stone, 400 Iron]

[Upgrade Requirements: 55,000 wood, 50,00 Stone, 50,000 Iron]

[Special Effect: All units summoned will start as completely loyal.]

[Tornado Wolf Summoning Circle (Upgradable) (Immobile)]

[Gathers Mana to summon 10 Tornado Wolves every two weeks]

[Recruits Available: 0]

[Recruit Requirements: 600 wood, 500 stone, 400 Iron]

[Upgrade Requirements: 50,000 wood, 50,00 Stone, 50,000 Iron]

[Special Effect: All units summoned will start as completely loyal.]

[Glorious Human Light Mage Summoning Circle (Upgradable) (Immobile)]

[Gathers Mana to summon 10 Glorious Human Light Mages every month.]

[Recruits Available: 0]

[Recruit Requirements: 8,000 wood, 2,000 stone, 2,000 Iron]

[Upgrade Requirements: 800,000 wood, 200,00 Stone, 200,000 Iron]

[Special Effect: All units summoned will start as completely loyal.]

Every unit that had a type of enhanced would have the time increased to two weeks before each summon. Epic type units had a month-long cooldown. Lastly, enhanced giant wolves seemed to lose 5 summonable units. Which all makes the giant summoning circle make sense!

[Earth Giant Summoning Circle (Upgradable) (Immobile)]

[Gathers Mana to summon 5 Earth Giants every two weeks]

[Recruits Available: 10]

[Recruit Requirements: 400 wood, 1,000 stone, 500 Iron]

[Upgrade Requirements: 40,000 wood, 100,000 Stone, 50,000 Iron]

[Special Effect: All units will start as completely loyal to the owner of the circle.]

[Note: First time summoning is completely free.]

After sighing Allen took out another Fire stone, not to upgrade the circle, but to simply see what would be the next group of mages he could summon.

[(Fire Stone (Material)) is incompatible with (Glorious Human Fire Mage Summoning Circle)]

"Huh?" Pausing for a while he tried several stones and soon found the new problem any summoning circle that summoned epic units was unable to upgrade further! Thinking of those people who sold their elemental stone Allen had originally thought they were ignorant and simply hadn't realized its' true value, but now...

Now he realized that anyone who would consider selling the stone might be ignorant, but they could also be selling it to get the materials to upgrade their own summoning circle! Thinking of this Allen looked at the 19 wind stones and only 4 possible wolf upgrades with his current wolf summoning circles and felt heartache. Originally he thought he made the best investment, but there was now a strong possibility that he would have many stones just lying around without use!

Sighing all he could do was look at what supplies he had now and what he could get in the future. Still, this problem wasn't even the highest priority problem! Thinking of the upcoming battle Allen could only ponder if the short term increase in power was worth the long term hunger.
