Chapter 32 - Undead Battle

As the fire hit the enemy the first thing to be noticed was how quickly the undead units died! This was mostly due to the Skeleton Bombs exploding prematurely and killing their companions.

The undead attacked but quickly fell as their weakness to fire became apparent as they couldn't resist the flaming attacks. The walls of lava stopped all those who wanted to attack straight on. The undead that wanted to go around were dealt with by the wolves.

Strangely, the undead on their horses didn't join the battle, nor did the Lich. As for the Earth and Dirt mages, all kept making ways for the troops to look above the walls of fire and launch more attacks. The Ember and Fire mages all focused on keeping the lava walls hot.

Suddenly the tough fights seemed to become nothing difficult. Even with fewer troops in comparison to the undead, his troops destroyed the enemy!

Soon only the mounted units and the Lich remained. Allen could tell something was wrong and quickly recalled all his troops to the lava wall safety. Even as the entire undead army fell the Lich showed the same smile since the start. Its' disturbingly stretched skin never became unstretched. Strangely the Lich started walking slowly closer to the center of the battlefield.

As the mounted undead followed the Lich, they were now close enough for Allen to see what their stats.

Looking at the ridiculous stats, Allen suddenly wondered why everything was always better for others...

As the last few undead seemed to be fighting the Lich spoke cutting through the sounds of battle, "Well, it looks like my probing attack completely failed. I guess it is time to truly begin... Don't you agree?"

Suddenly the staff slammed into the ground as a redish black energy spread all around focusing Allen and his troops! Allen felt the energy enter his body as he had no way to stop it! Without being able to control his thoughts he began to wonder several things.

'Should I really be fighting him? He seems to be so calm... I should just join his army as an undead. Then I wouldn't have to fear anything! Yeah... To join his army. All I have to do is bow down to him and become an... an... Undead?... FUCK THAT I REFUSE! I will never become an undead!'

Everyone paused for a second, maybe less, before they all attacked with even more fervor!

[Congradulations! You and your troops all resisted a mental attack!]

[+1 Intelligence to all who resisted!]

[Glorious Fire Mage(Vita Ester) has wondered how good it could be to join the enemy. Due to fear, she resists! Still, the effects of the thoughts remain. (-5 Loyalty)]

Although his voice couldn't cut through the sounds of battle like the Lich, the battle had almost ended anyway so it allowed his voice to reach the Lich, "HAHA! You are a fool if you think we are so weak-minded! If that is your only trick then you should just sit and wait for death!"

The Lich spoke with a voice that reached everyone, yet it sounded soft, "Well, it is always worth a try. How about this now?" As he finished speaking his staff slammed on the ground once more. This time it was a pure black energy that spread all around the battlefield as almost every undead that stopped moving started up again!

Even more amazingly some of them changed! Very few gained the new talent 'Ashes Fire Resistance (E rank)' yet the only physical distinguisher between what they were in the past and what they changed to was a small blue flame that spread from some cracks in their skull.

[Ashes Fire Resistance (E rank) -> After being reborn from the ashes of their firey demise, the user has gained a slight resistance to fire element attacks. (Now slightly more susceptible to water element attacks)]

Now as the sounds of battle raged on higher than before Allen wondered if that was all it was to it. The only difference he could tell happened was that no Skeleton Bombs had been revived. This did slow his troops slightly, but it didn't seem to matter much.

Quickly all undead died no matter how resistant to fire they had become. Yet looking at the confident smile of the Lich Allen knew something was wrong. Even with the great troops beside him, the Lich needed some other confidence since his units would still survive until the Lich ran out of energy.

The first battle only took five minutes at the most before the undead were revived. The second battle only took double that time, which was still not much. He still had several wolves in reserve in case it kept going for a long time.

It was at this time he saw something coming in the distance. The undead had reinforcements!

Realizing how bad the situation would be Allen quickly thought of what to do! Even if the Giants come to help they wouldn't be the greatest help since they are only at Enhanced+ while they are currently dealing with a group of elite members at Glorious type! The Elves don't even have much greater stats than humans, so they wouldn't be that much of help either!

Allen had a few options, all of which had to do with his bestow skill. One is to simply charge the undead using his Strength enhancement for his wolves while hoping for the best. Next is to use his Vitality enhancement to withstand the large army that is coming this way hoping stamina endures. Another option is to use Intelligence to increase mage attack power. Lastly, it is to use Agility to escape!

Out of these options, two were crossed off right away. Vitality would only help so much, but his bestow wouldn't last that long anyway so it would be useless unless he planned a reckless attack!

Next is Agility. If he wanted to escape he would have to abandon his base, which would be fine in the short term, but as this world isn't infinite he runs into a problem.

He knew what was around him thanks to the help of his troop's constant exploration. During the exploration, he learned that there was a wall of white fog that couldn't be passed in the South. Although it was a decent distance from his base, it wasn't that far.

To the East was the mountain where Addy resided and he didn't want to bring this army to her doorstep. To the Northwest were Feno and his wife Alice. Again he couldn't just bring such a large army to their doorstep. To the North was now this large undead army!

Even if he ignored all of that and insisted on escaping, he had to consider how to improve his strength for a future fight with the undead. His main source of strength was also in his base. His summoning circles. He could buy more sure, but what happens when he needs more elemental stones? Too much is already immobile.

After thinking of this Allen didn't hesitate before ordering all troops to speed up the killing of current enemies before the reinforcements arrived. Even the wolves and mages that were in standby joined!

Soon only the mounted undead and the Lich remained. The reinforcements were still a decent distance away. Seeing this Allen didn't think anymore and ordered everyone back behind the wall.

The Lich saw this and spoke with confidence, "Oh? What is this now, you are preparing your surrender? Or do you truly believe you can defeat my endless army? Who's energy can last longer I wonder?"

Allen simply smiled as he spoke, "Unfortunately none of us want to become undead yet, so please wait for your death patiently..."

"And how do you plan to accomplish that?"

"Simple," Allen smiled evilly as he finallized bestow, "Like this."
