Chapter 28 - Running

As the wolf raised his claw, the energy around his limbs seemed to receive a direction. It condensed into a sharp wind blade. The wind blade reached toward me but I managed to block the attack using my left arm as a shield.

' I need to get away. '

I took out my sword and take a stance. I can't win this fight but I should at least take out another eye, this way I will have more chance to survive.

The wolf slashes again. But I paired the attack with my sword. I have to be careful with the wind blade so I covered my sword with a wide range of energy. Although it consumes a lot of energy, I can't dodge the wolf's attack.

I will probably be able to fight on equal terms if I fully recover.

I take a step forward and make a horizontal slash. The wolf figure suddenly disappeared.

Slash!

I moved my sword to my back. The heavyweight collides with my sword, sending me flying away.

I condensed my sword energy into lighting. While in midair, I throw the sword at the wolf.

Because of the lighting attributes, the speed and power of the throw double. On top of that with my ability, my attack pierced through the wolf's claw and exploded, destroying its limb.

After using everything I have, I don't have the strength to move.

My leg gives out and I fell to the ground with my face. My eye is bleeding. I can't even see anymore. My vision is shaking. I close my eye because of the blood flowing into my remaining eye.

' I can't even kill this cat. ' I sneered at myself. ' I am pathetic.'

' Ah. I am blacking out. '

Soon after, Lucian heard the sounds of wind being cut. The moment was chaotic as if someone was venting and with time, it was getting closer to Lucian. Not long after, the wolf in front of him was parted by the sword.

" Lucian."

He heard someone calling him.

I wake up hearing a rustle. It was nighttime. Beside me, a campfire was lit up brightly. I summon my strength to get up.

" Ah."

Because of the pain, I cry. A familiar voice comes from the side, " Lucian, you must lie down."

The hand grabbed my arms and help me lay down. Suddenly, I look over in her direction. Kyla took out the bandage and warp around my left arm.

I noticed she warp around my left eye as well. I asked, " How?"

" What did you say?"

Because of my faint voice, Kyla doesn't seem to hear my question. She said while spreading medicine over my arm, " You need to rest now. You lose so much blood. I don't know how a human can survive in this situation but you are lucky."

With each second passed, my eyelids get heavier. Lucian falls asleep.

The next morning, birds chirped nonstop as they looked for food. Lucian was laying on the flat rock. Beside him, five people are having a meeting.

Selena said, " What should we do? We can't win that giant without any proper guidance."

Wilfrid nodded, " We can at least strengthen our teamwork but without proper skill, I can't say we will win the fight flawlessly."

Irene listened to Wilfrid's reason and said, " I will use my ability to kill that giant."

Wilfrid pondered for a bit, thinking that Irene's ability will probably be useful in battle but she can't dead lethal damage. Because of that, Wilfrid shakes his head.

Reynard asked, " So, what can we do? If we don't kill that giant we can't escape this dungeon."

Wilfrid answered Reynard, " We can only count on Lucian."

Selena looks at Lucian who is sleeping beside them and asked, " Why?"

" Because he can evolve without skill and guidance."

Seeing that Wilfrid doesn't have any logic to explain, Irene got up, " I don't have time to talk. I have to train." and she left.

Wilfrid smiled and asked Kyla about Lucian's situation.

"Kyla, When will Lucian properly heal his injuries?"

Kyla answered, " It will probably take about a week with my skill, I can't heal his eye since they are beyond repair. With his abnormal life force, he should be fine."

***

In the evening, while Kyla was changing the bandage, Lucian woke up.

" Water."

Kyla cast a skill and a ball of water floated toward him. I suck the water. After relishing my thirst for water, I close my eye to sense energy.

I need to heal faster. I need energy. I don't want to lay like a broken doll. What does a broken doll do every day?

It does only one thing which is nothing. I don't want to become a burden.

I don't need an answer to how I got here right now. I just focus on my wound to heal faster.

It drains my mental energy. Without physical strength, it is hard to gather energy by only using my mind. Soon I fall asleep.

This routine lasts for three days. I woke up, gather energy and fall asleep.

Day by day, I noticed my arm being reconstructed. The bone connects, and my muscle strengthen.

On day four, I can walk now but decided not to.

I completely heal in one week. They all come to ask me about the situation. We chat some nonsense.

Soon Wilfrid brings up the topic, " Lucian, how did you escape the giant."

I explained without leaving anything. They all listen quietly. I asked, " I don't know how the wolf die. When I woke up I was in the camp."

Wilfrid pointed at Irene, " She uses her ability. And we are close to you. Kyla quickly cast emergency skills and first aid. After you stabilize Reynard carried you hear."

I nodded, " Thanks."

Wilfrid explained to me, he went to use me as the main damage dealer. I understand his situation. Because I am getting stronger as the day went by.
