Chapter 32 - No one was able to go back alive

Damien looked at the small demon that was hovering over his shoulder and silently wished that he could crush this creature with his fists. With him by his side, he was sure that he will end up dying out of surprise and anger instead of being killed by a demon.

But he did not do anything like that, not letting his intrusive thoughts win he turned to walk even further in the corridor. Multiple doors led to a different room hidden in the cave but Damien did not enter any of those instead he walked to the archway from where those non-human demonic creatures came out. For them to come out of that space meant only one thing —— they were guarding something precious.

Lynch's eyes were looking around the corridor, a strange glint in his eyes as he looked at the demonic creatures who were on the floor of the corridor. Back then when he found out that his mistress was asking him to transform a human into a demon, he wondered why Sierra was asking him to do that but now that he was looking at the corpses of the non-human demonic beasts, he could understand that this man had some really freaky.

For this human to get a hang of the shadow manipulation skills so easily, he was not a simple human.

As Damien reached the last archway that led to a long corridor with no flames and spider webs as thick and sticky as a Velcro, he nervously gulped. His muscles were tensed and he was gripping the sword in his hands rather tightly as he shuddered and then walked inside the corridor, tension brimming out of his body.

Because he was used to getting into a dangerous situations, he was not as scared of going inside the corridor that was covered with spider webs with the sound of scuttling. Not once in his life, had he thought that there will be a day when he will have to do something this dangerous, even though his parents were good for nothing and wanted to get all the comforts despite not trying to work harder, he thought that they had a bottom line.

With his salary he could have easily finished paying the down payment for the apartment he was living in and could have married a decent girl and settled down by the end of the next three years. His parents never reached out during the past few years and he thought that they have finally got what one would call guilty conscience only now did Damien realise that he was a fool who still had some hope towards his parents.

Lynch who was sitting on his shoulders, was looking around the corridor, and suddenly spoke in a very casual tone, " Master why don't you use your magic to increase your speed? This way we will be able to get out of this place quickly."

Damien looked at the back of the corridor which was as deserted as the front and then shook his head. " I cannot do that, the earring hasn't charged yet and my mana points are not much, if I use my magic to increase my speed what will happen if we meet something in between our paths? I might regret using the magic of the crystal earring. When heading towards an unknown place, one must keep as many resources to themselves as possible such that they will not have to worry about anything later on."

This was what his experience with all the drug dealing gangs has taught him, he always saved an extra bullet full gun to make sure that he will be able to protect himself when the situation called for it.

And what was more this place was not something that he has ever been to?

Lynch nodded in understanding before he continued to direct him in the direction where they have to go. " After taking a total of thirty steps you will find a wall on your left, tap on the third brick to the left of the candle holder that is hanging on the side of the blocked passageway."

Damien followed Lynch's direction and then walked over to the spot where he was supposed to go, he reached the wall with a candle holder in no time and then looked at the blocked passageway. He was looking around the corridor while he was coming here and did not see any opening from where the beasts that attacked him could have come out——

So, where did they come out from? Wouldn't it be this hidden passageway?

While Damien was thinking about this problem, he heard Lynch hurrying him up and he raised his hand to tap on the third brick from the left of the candle holder and waited with his breathing turning heavy. He was prepared to deal with anything that was going to come his but as his muscles tensed, he realised that the wall remained as silent as it was earlier and nothing happened to it at all.

He turned to look at Lynch who raised his hands and said, " Wait let me look carefully, I cannot see that well in the dark, master."

With that, he spread his tiny wings out and then flew over to where the brick was, his hand was covering his chin as he carefully examined it and then in a very light voice said, " Oh, you need to rub some blood on this …I can see traces of blood magic on this stone, very likely this tomb was made by the magic of a blood warlock which is why this condition has to be met for us to enter the tomb."

Damien looked at Lynch with suspicion clouding his eyes as he raised his hand and pierced the tip of his thumb with the tip of the sword and said, " Getting to this passageway is this easy? So why didn't anyone come here before?"

" Oh they did," Lynch waited until Damien has placed his thumb on the brick to answer his question. "It's just that they were never able to come back alive."

As he finished answering the thick wall started to part into two halves and Damien heard a roar of a very enraged beast who did not seem too happy upon his visit.
