Ceaser had managed to escape the palace grounds with a few bruises and he ran to the forest. Zeth was well known for its dense forestry so it wasn't much of a surprise to the young boy. The sun had started setting and to Ceaser, it felt like time was flying. As he ran deeper to the heart of the forest, the shouts and heavy stomps of the soldiers following him started to fade. The thick trees blocked off what was left of the sun's rays and his vision begun to fail him. He heard the voice of a man scream close to where he was so he picked up his pace and run faster. There was another screamed but this time it was accompanied by a low growl.
Ceaser stopped to listen and heard low noises like sobbing and tearing of flesh. He swallowed his saliva and blinked back the tears that threatened to fall. He went down on his knees and followed the sound. He hid himself behind a bush a peeped to check what the source of the noise was. Ceaser's face darkened and contorted from the sight he beheld. A man, probably a soldier, was been tortured by a wolf; a very large wolf. It deprived him even of the luxury of death and instead played with his body and tearing away his flesh slowly. It wasn't even eating but tossed each chunk away and observed the soldier's expression.
Ceaser gasped and lowered himself to the ground. He was sure the wolf had heard him and would soon come to find him. A year rolled down his cheek as he held back a son. He spread himself on the ground then started to drag himself away. His tears started to flow more quickly when he heard a ranger growl just behind the bush where he had hidden earlier. He turned to look at the bush and the bush rastled a little bit before it stilled and the place fell silent again. He got up and started tip- toeing away while occasionally looking over his shoulder. When he felt he was out of earshot, he started running frantically as tears continued flowing. He slowed down when he saw the moonlight and the light of torches just ahead of him.
He felt happy to some extent at the thought that he was saved. He started walking in that direction when a different wolf jumped out of nowhere and stood in his path. He stopped moving and swollowed down imaginary saliva. He looked in another direction but another wolf jumped out of a bush. His face turned pale as he thought of how he would be torn to pieces by these wolves. As if two weren't enough, two more walked into the light and they all howled in unison. The light of torches he had seen earlier had long since disappeared and the only light available was that of the moon. It was a full moon so it was very bright outside. A cold wind blew passed and the wolves looked up to howl again. Ceaser took the opportunity and broke into a sprint.
The wolves were quick to notice and they started chasing after him. The weren't running quickly and Ceaser noticed this. Were they leading him into a trap? Ceaser run straight to a tree then made a sharp turn. The wolf that was directly behind him nearly hit itself in the tree. The three other wolves stopped as though checking on him and when they were satisfied, they continued following him. This time they moved quietly like they were in a hunt mode.
Ceaser slowed down when he couldn't hear the noises of the wolves. He knew it wasn't possible that he had outrun then because he couldn't even outrun the princess. He felt like he had just walked into a trap. His blue eyes darted left and right, searching in the dim light that seemed to grow dimmer the longer he stared. He looked up at the tree branch above his head and he heard a creaking sound. He moved away and saw a large white wolf down from the tree. Ceaser's eyes widened and immediately felt heavy with tears. The wolf had a scar across it's face and it's white fur looked very well kept. All the wolves he had seen where white so he guessed that they probably belonged to the same pack.
Was it possible that the smaller four wolves had told on him and summoned their alpha? Ceaser's thoughts were ridiculous and he knew. He searched the area for a possible escape but the forest seemed to stretch to no end. He felt helpless as his eyes fell back on the large beast that hadn't attacked him yet. It gave out a low growl and lowered it's upper body; ready to pounce on him. The beast locked eyes with him a bared it's teeth to him. It jolted from it's posture and lunged at the boy. Ceaser moved away and fell to the side while the wolf crashed into the tree. The tree fell whilst the wolf was immobilized for a while.
Ceaser didn't wait a second longer and run away . He screamed inwardly and hoped his mother would come to find him if she was alright.
He run for a long distance and his legs started aching. He took in gasps of air while hitting his chest. The air felt dense with something that he didn't know and it made him pinch his nose. He started walking while making sure that there was nothing around to hurt him. He saw a bright blue light ahead of him. He pondered whether or not he should follow it. He feared it might be a witch conjuring a spell. In the end, he decided against it and was about to turn when he heard the growling sound of a wolf. His feet moved on impulse as a wave of adrenaline coursed through his body. He ran towards the eerie light and he found that the source of it was a small hut.
