Ceaser didn't think of how suspicious the little hut looked he just run in without much thought. When he entered the hut, there was nothing inside except a flight of stairs leading down. The stairs were made of wood and looked very unstable. He went down the first three steps without much to worry about. The fourth step looked unstable and very old it almost seemed like the first three had just been repaired.
A low growl was heard from the door and Ceaser turned to see the large wolf standing at the entrance. He was grateful that the wolf was too large to enter through the doorway but his joy was killed in it's childhood because the wolf somehow squeezed through the small door. His legs moved on their own and he hastily went down the next four steps. On the eighth step, a loose nail went through his foot and he slipped on his own blood. He didn't even have the chance to cry as the whole flight of stairs collapsed because of his weight and the force of gravity. The boy's small body hit the ground with terrible force. He was about to fall unconscious when the large wolf jumped down on him and made another nail pierce his hand. Ceaser cried out in pain and somehow, he mastered enough strength to push the wolf away.
As soon as the wolf's large body was off of him, he propped himself up and picked up a plank that was part of the stairs. He turned to the wolf that now looked disoriented and charged towards it with the plank. He hit the wolf's fore leg a it howled in pain. It struck him with it's claws and Ceaser moved away crying. He was running solely on adrenaline and his injured leg didn't hurt anymore. The place he was in had many passages but he kept on going straight. The wolf was following at a steady pace like a predictor that had already captured it's prey. But then Ceaser's surprised it by making a left turn. It skidded a few meters away from the turn and then it run after him.
The passage he had taken led him to an empty room with a rope ladder leasing up. He started climbing up the ladder quickly. The wolf entered the room and launched itself at Ceaser who had almost reached the top. The ladder shook and the rope cut just above Ceaser's hand. He pulled himself up and managed to squeeze himself through the narrow exit at the top. The wolf howled as if in dissatisfaction and jubilation. Ceaser stood up and looked at the bird like head that was up on a a golden table. It was seemingly made of rock; a special rock because it was glowing brightly.
Ceaser marveled at the rock in utter disbelief and an unknown excitement. He limped closer to the thing, ignoring the pain, and noticed it's brightness increased the closer he got. He smiled like a babe in it's mother's arms and extended his injured arm towards it. He felt a sudden wave of pain as the adrenaline rush subsided. He could feel the tear of every muscle and tissue. His foot throbed from the pain and so did his hand. But he wanted to touch the bird head.
He limped closer and finally lay his injured hand on the stone monument. It's glow changed from blue to red and the birds eyes closed.
"Mas...ter..." a deep voice said.
Ceaser looked at the bird thing and witnessed how the nail that was stuck I'm his hand melted and the flesh closed itself. He looked down at his foot that had been impaled and saw that it was back to normal. He heard a familiar growling sound behind him so he turned around quickly.
The wolf looked him straight in the eye then lowered it's gaze. It started to tear apart until there were ten body parts on the ground. Ceaser almost sunk into the ground but felt someone hold him up. One by one, the body pieces turned into smaller white wolves. Ceaser gasped at the sight and realized that the larger wolf was as a result of the ten wolves before him merging together. How was that even possible?
His knees weaker and as he fell back, a chair materialized out of thin air. He fell onto the soft cushion he gasped again because he was certain there hadn't been a chair there before. As if this place hadn't surprised him enough, the wolves started to shed their skins and they became humans. All the air left Ceaser's lungs and he fainted.
When he awoke, probably close to dawn, he was in the hut lying on the softest bed he had ever felt. He had a feeling of euphoria as he looked round the room. There was a fire burning in a fire place he had not noticed before when he first came to the hut. There were no stairs anymore and the floor was cleaner. His eyes travelled to the door where he saw the shadow of a man. The door was shut so it couldn't have been a real person. He held his breath and opened his eyes wider so that he could confirm that all this was real.
"Master... will you let me share your body with you?" it said.
"Who..." Ceaser begun then corrected himself," what are you?"
" And here I was thinking you looked up to me. Don't you know me?" the shadow answered with questions.
' Look up to him? ' Ceaser asked in his head.
"I...am ... Crow." the shadow said moving closer though not leaving the wall,"And you are my master, my sire."
"Crow?" Ceaser asked with excitement laced in his tone.
" Yes sire. What do you want me to do for you?"
Ceaser was quiet for a few minutes before he remembered his mother's face when she'd told him to run.
"Make sure my mother is safe. Then take me he to her."
"What about your father?"
" He can die a thousand times." Ceaser said without emotion.
