Chapter 11 - New Classes

When Daniel awoke the next day, his body and mind felt refreshed. He was ready for the new day, one where he would properly explore the Nine Peaks Sect and get to experience the life of these people.

He hopped out of bed and began to stretch. He had a small exercise routine that he had maintained from ever since he was still in the Highsword Clan's territory. Up till now, he maintained it diligently.

By the time Daniel rounded up his routine, he was already covered in beads of sweat. He sighed and used a rag to wipe the sweat on his face away.

"Ah, I need a bath." He sighed, taking a sniff at his body. He then made his way out of his room to the hall between his and Han's room. The door to the bathroom was located in the hall, but the sound of running water reached Daniel's ears, meaning that it was already in use.

Just as Daniel turned to leave, Han spoke from within the bathroom.

"There is a bucket under the sink. You can fetch your water with it." He announced and returned to what he was doing. Daniel only took a single look around and spotted the bucket, swiping it up and turning to leave.

"Thanks!" He called over his shoulder and left the house.

It was still quite early in the morning, with the sun only just starting to rise, but the people were already up and about. He whistled a tune as he walked to the area where the other students got water from a running tap.

Daniel rubbed his eyes as he waited for his turn. From the corner of his eyes, he could see some of the boys pointing at him while whispering, no doubt discussing about his little bout with Leon the day before. He had really not intended for that to happen, but it was already too late to begin regretting what had already happened.

Daniel quickly fetched his bucket of water and returned to the house he shared with Han. As he entered, Han was just getting out of the bathroom, so he quickly entered and had his bath. He could have chosen to heat up the water with the stove, but he wanted to use cold water that morning.

Ten minutes later, Daniel was dressed in simple garbs and was ready to head to his first class of the day. Han was waiting for him in the living area, sipping some tea.

"Shall we leave?" Daniel asked. As they were both Second Class students, they shared the same schedule.

Han was dressed in a simple black tunic with black trousers. His spiky hair was standing up straight.

"Our class does not start for the next thirty minutes. There is no hurry. Make some tea, energize yourself." Han spoke in a sagely tone as he sipped his tea. Daniel simply sighed and returned to the kitchen where he made some tea to wait out the time. He did not know where the classes were and only had to wait for Han.

Twenty minutes later, the two boys left the boys quarters and made their way to the building that held all the classes.

As a Swordschool, the Nine Peaks Sect placed a very high importance on the need to conduct practical classes. Because of this standard, seventy percent of the classes were practical in nature.

"You are lucky. We have not yet made much progress in our classes, so it should not be too hard to catch up." Han smirked in Daniel's direction.

"I would not have needed much time either way." Daniel scoffed as they walked into the large building that held over a dozen classes. Each class was as big as the arena that he had fought Leon in the day before.

The two boys eventually reached the designated hall for their class. There were already quite a few people in the class, and when they stepped in, a host of eyes immediately turned to look at Daniel. Everyone had already heard about the fight from the previous day, and they all wanted to see who this new prodigy was!

A chorus of hushed whispers immediately broke out as the students began to discuss about Daniel right in front of him. However, no one approached him. They all gave him assessing looks from afar and did not try to speak to him.

"Do you all gossip here?" The corner of Daniel's lips twitched and he asked Han.

"They are just jobless. Ignore them." Han scoffed and waved his hand, walking over to one of the seats that was located at the upper end of the class. Daniel followed and sat beside him, patiently waiting for the class to start.

Although Daniel had been given a lot of advice by the Highsword Clan's head, he had no idea what to expect from the Nine Peaks Sect. What would their classes be like? How intensive would the classes be? And what would the teachers be like?

As Daniel's thoughts swirled around all these questions, more and more students arrived in the classroom, and they were all dragged into the conversation about him.

Truly, the topic of a mysterious new student was something that fascinated them greatly. The fact that he had gotten into the sect at a time when the sect was no longer accepting students was something that drew them in even more.

As the class was in a rowdy state, a young man wearing a large robe suddenly walked into the classroom.

"Ahem! Quiet down!" His voice boomed through the room and the entire class instantly shut up. With his large brown eyes scanning the classroom, he nodded his head in satisfaction.

Those large eyes soon came to settle on Daniel, and a smile spread over his face. Instantly, Daniel's heart dropped to his stomach. He could smell trouble already.

"It seems we have a new student amongst us. Why don't you introduce yourself, Sir?" The young teacher announced, and all eyes turned to focus on Daniel.
