Daniel and Han soon arrived in the administrative building where they could find missions, file reports, and other things. Surprisingly, or not, the place was quite busy, as a lot of students were picking out missions for themselves.
The session had already been going on for some time before Daniel had been accepted into the Nine Peaks Sect, so most students were already very familiar with the processes that happened. A number of them had already accepted and completed some mundane missions, even.
The two boys walked over to the mission board that was made available at the side of the large hall. There were two mission boards, actually. When Daniel had asked, Han explained that the other mission board was meant for those with no special skills, the normal people who did not have any outstanding skills. The board that they had gone to was for Pseudo-Sword Initiates.
"Hmm..." Daniel rubbed his smooth chin as he examined the small notes that had been pinned to the board. The missions were refreshed every week, so these missions were quite recent, as they were still just on the second day of the week.
"Let's take something small." Han said and pointed to a note. Daniel looked over and examined it with a critical eye.
"To defeat mountain bandits?" He asked dubiously. It was only when he read a bit further that he realized that it was actually something worth their time. "The leader of the mountain bandits has shown impeccable swordsmanship, and is able to make some of his moves have special effects.
"My guess is that he is either a Sword Initiate, or Pseudo-Sword Initiate." Han hummed.
"Let's take it!" Daniel instantly said, his eyes glowing. Most of his time in the Highsword Clan, and before that, had been spent training. He never got to have much fun, or fight exciting battles.
"Alright." Han took down the note and the two of them walked over to a table where an inner member of the sect would take down their information. A couple of minutes later, the two of them walked out of the administration building and made their way to an exit of the sect that Daniel did not know. It was a different path than where he had come from.
"This is a shortcut." Han said, but didn't elaborate. There were a few other students walking down that path too, so Daniel did not worry too much.
Eventually, after half an hour, the two of them arrived at the base of the mountain. Han took out a small map that had been handed to him by the inner disciple that had processed the mission for them.
"The bandits are half a day's journey away from here. We should be able to get there by evening." The spike haired young man said after taking a few moments to examine the map.
With that, the two of them set off on the footpath that led away from the mountain.
.
.
Not far behind, two figures stealthily chased after Daniel and Han. The two people were none other than Angus and Jay were sharp, even though their talents were poor. The both of them were relatively strong Sword Initiates, but sadly, their talents had seemed to peak out and they were not able to make any more gains even after so many years of effort. The only thing that could help them was a rare talent boosting treasure, but no one would waste such incredibly rare resources on either of them.
"When do we strike?" Angus asked as he balanced on a branch.
"When they are in the middle of combat with the mountain bandits. We can chalk it up to the mountain bandits being too strong." Jay replied, his eyes narrowing.
Like that, they followed Daniel and Han for half of the day, and by the time the sun was setting, they arrived at the base of the small mountain that the bandits had been said to have made their camp.
.
.
"Finally. Let's get up there and clean up the place." Daniel said as they began to ascend the mountain through a rocky path. The mountain bandits were said to live halfway up the mountain. Why the person who had gotten the information did not wipe them out, Daniel had no idea.
The climb up took about an hour, and by the time they reached the edge of the bandit camp, it was already dark out.
"It's bigger than I thought." Daniel whispered to Han as the two of them peaked over the tall fence of the camp and into the camp. A couple of guards were stationed by the gate, but they were lazy and chatted between themselves, instead of paying attention.
"We can knock out the two guards, or sneak in over the fence. Whichever one we pick has its own risks." Han suggested.
"We sneak in over the fence, then take out the guards that are patrolling. If we take out the ones by the gates first, then their absence would be noticed sooner." Daniel put out his own thoughts.
"Alright, we'll do it your way. Let's go." Han nodded his head.
