Chapter 2: Myth Online(2)

"Bhaiji, if you're reading this, then I am no longer alive in this world," Aakesh's hands trembled as he read the content on the first page.

Forcing himself to stay strong, Aakesh turned over to the second page.

"All of you must have been wondering why did I change suddenly overnight. You, Mummy, Papa, I have made all of you worry."

"The truth is it wasn't an overnight change. It was a change caused by the struggle of fifteen years."

"The story I used to tell you to read, but you always used to scoff at them. Something like that happened to me. That day, I suddenly woke up in past after dying fifteen years later."

"You must be thinking of me as an idiot for killing himself even though I got a second chance at life."

"But, I don't want to return to that hellhole. I don't want to see you, Mummy, and Papa dying again."

The content in the diary became outrageous as Aakesh further read it.

According to the diary, it wasn't the first time, Manish had returned to the past. But it was the fifth time.

And every time, he would return to the same fifteen years. In those rebirths, Manish tried to use different tactics, but he could neither save Aakesh nor his parents.

In every rebirth, Aakesh and the parents would face a cruel death, leaving Manish on the mental edge.

With every rebirth, the three people died differently, but one thing was common, it was a cruel death.

And the cause of all of this was a game that would release a month later. A Virtual reality game that was going to change the world like never before.

At first, the game would stay as the game, but at some point, the powers of the game would start to materialize in the real world, changing the hierarchy of power.

It wasn't that Manish wasn't talented; he reached a high level of power in every rebirth, but he failed to change the future every time. Manish mental state couldn't bear the thought of his family dying again, so he decided to trust his elder brother to save their parents and committed suicide before it all started.

Thud!

The diary fell from Aakesh's hands as he stumbled to the floor. The content of the diary was something that came from fantasy.

How was he to accept that his younger brother, who hated working, would face so many struggles—not once or twice, but five times?

As for Aakesh believing in what was written in the diary, Aakesh's heart told him that it was all true.

"Myth Online!" Aakesh gritted his teeth as he murmured the name of the game that was about to release in a month.

The diary didn't contain any knowledge about the game from the future except for basic information that would be publicly available to everyone after its launch. It neither explained why and how Manish died every time.

But after reading the diary, Aakesh made up his mind to find out what happened with his younger brother. As an elder brother, it was his duty to protect his younger brother. Since he couldn't protect Manish, it was now up to him to get his revenge.

"I'll kill those who did this to you, or I'll meet you in the afterlife," Aakesh vowed, gnashing his teeth.

The next day, Aakesh tendered his resignation to his office. Aakesh had learned from the diary that the game would grant a total of twenty units to all attributes combined at the start.

Aakesh stood in front of the mirror as he looked at himself.

Aakesh's physique wasn't up to the standard of an average man, let alone a strong man. A slight bulge came out of his stomach, making the shirt tighter than it should have been. The man had features that could stand out in a crowd like his brother since both his parents had above-average appearances. But since Aakesh didn't like working out, he couldn't do justice to the features he had gotten from his parents.

Aakesh's father had a well-paying job, so the family had large savings. Since the game was bound to change the future, Aakesh decided not to be conservative.

Aakesh went to his parents and talked about the idea of giving Aakesh control over the savings.

Aakesh's mother agreed right away, and it took some talking to make his father accept the idea. In the end, both parents agreed with what Aakesh wanted to do.

The next day, Aakesh spent extravagantly as he ordered several gym devices, and began to work out in his house.

Time flew by, and twenty-nine days had passed in the blink of an eye.

Tomorrow, October 18, 2022, is the day when the first virtual reality game, Myth Online, will launch. In this world, only Aakesh was privy to this information.

But not for long, as in the afternoon, a webpage appeared on the internet, sharing the details about Myth Online. It was also the only way to order virtual devices to connect to the game.

The diary contained this information, so Aakesh was waiting for it. He ordered the virtual device a minute after the game site went live. It wasn't cheap, as it cost Aakesh seven million rupees (around 100,000 USD).

The delivery of the device didn't make Aakesh wait long, as only two hours after Aakesh had logged his order, he heard the house bell.

A box large enough to contain the refrigerator and washing machine was placed at Aakesh's door, while four delivery boys stood gasping for air.

Aakesh offered them a glass of water and some tips. He then showed them his room, where Aakesh wanted to set up the virtual device.

As the father saw the delivery guys setting the device in Aakesh's room, he wanted to speak to his son since he had gotten the receipt for the device in his mail. But after remembering the corpse of his younger son, the father only sighed and returned to his room.

Aakesh could understand his father, but he wasn't going to share the secret of the diary with them. His brother killed himself since he couldn't see his family dying, and Aakesh wasn't going to let Manish's sacrifice be in vain. He would change the future.

At the same time, Aakesh also had some hope that if a power that could make Manish return to the past existed, a power that could revive the dead must also be possible. Aakesh wasn't going to let his younger brother stay dead.
