I watched her walk away, pulling Joanna with her in hurry. As if she was desperate to get away from me. I sat in the car staring at her retreating form while the same thought kept nagging at me.
I knew Elena enough to be sure that she would never book a room at one of the best hotels in the city. Especially when she was running short on money, given her father's condition.
Joanna's answer was not convincing at all. Something was not right here.
I stepped out of the car and tossed the keys to the wallet before striding inside the hotel. This one was familiar to me given the fact that it belonged to one of our good family friends.
I went to the reception where the manager instantly recognised me.
"Mr Sanders! What a pleasant surprise to have you here. Congratulations sir! We saw the news of your engagement tonight." The man extended his hand to congratulate me.
