A week has passed since we got into the virtual world of Virtue and Valenciaga was already a small town. For clarification, time moves differently compared to the real world. From what I've been told, A month here was only an hour in the real world. With that in mind, it was going to be a long game for all participating it.
Just as the new town have barely started to grow bigger, another incident happened. It midnight, I was still reading the tutorial. To my amusement, there was also an advanced tutorial after I finished reading the original tutorial. I decided to rest and read the advanced tutorial the following day but before I was even able to do that, I smelled a burning smell. I could smell smoke coming into my nose. I quickly got out of the resting house and saw fires from one of the structure. It slowly envelopes the next and spread to the other houses and structure. An alarming bell began to rang signaling everyone to get out of their bed. All of the AIs acted realistically. They were in panic as they tried to put a stop to the fire.
"Put out the fire at once!" Azreal's loud shouting can be heard from across the small town.
I hurried toward him and see that his was looking restless.
"Hey, are you alright? You don't look so well..."
He replied, "I was barely about to get a goodnight sleep after having that lovely drink at the tavern with my men. Most of us were already tired by then."
"On what occasion did you guys do a huge gathering?"
"It wasn't really anything huge other than one of the folks decided to let the drinks be all on the house. I guess that's where it started."
"Do you know who was it?"
"I'm sure it's my men but why are you asking me that?" he wondered.
I nervously told him, "Because that guy might be a spy. Do you remember what he looked like?"
Azreal tried to recall, "I don't honestly remember his face but he did wear a significantly vibrant scarf. I think it was in yellow. What are you planning to do, White?"
"I'll try and go look for him. You should ask some of your men to also focus on keeping watch on the outside of the city. Don't just go full force on stopping the fire."
"Alright. I'll do that." He nodded.
I nodded and made haste to the nearest watchtower. I reached out one of my arm to the open air.
"Zee! Come here!"
Few seconds after that, Zee quickly landed on my arm. In case anyone wondering, yes. The eagles razor claw are very sharp so I made sure to pad my arm with some leather. In any case, I used one of my Scout Class skills that allows me to share the vision of my eagle. I sent Zee out to go and look for the yellow scarfed AI.
Sharing a vision with an eagle feels disorienting at first because I was still not used to flying in the air. But after some training throughout the week I think I can manage for now. I still need more getting used to though. But in any case, after looking around for a few minutes we finally found one single AI with a yellow scarf. They already left the town with a stolen horse. I quickly got down the watchtower and got on a horse at the stable and give chase to the AI.
While trying to cover the distance, Zee noticed an encampment not far from here. It seems that the yellow scarfed AI was trying to go there. I figured it would be something like this and it looks like the encampment seemed to be a bit shorthanded.
"Darn it." That's when I realized. "The enemy is already at town...and it's too far and too late for me to warn, Azreal."
I shaked my head and tried to shrug off the stress. I continued covering the distance between the me and the AI. In a few moment after that, the AI finally notice that they were being chased. They quickly rushed their horse.
As he finally reached the encampment he quickly got out of the horse and quickly ran into the encampment. I stopped nearby and looked through Zee\s vision. The camp doesn't seem to be filled with the enemy force. But it was still enough for me to actually be very careful when infiltrating it.
I got out of my horse and quietly got into the camp. I quickly got into the nearest tent and was relieved to find it out it was empty. Most of the tent was empty, actually. So I passed tent to tent as I searched for the specific AI. It was then I saw him talking with someone else. I couldn't tell who it was but the AI was kneeling down as if it was reporting on what just happened. The AI probably mentioned that it was being chased by me. But I doubt he knew that I was brave enough to infiltrate.
I decided to get near as I passed through another number of empty tents. The yellow scarfed AI then got up as it leaves what seems to be the leader of the fire attack. Aside from finding out directly who ordered the attack and probably risking my own life, I decided to follow the yellow scarfed AI instead. Once he got somewhere where no one was watching, I quickly struck on him and began to interrogate.
But before I was even able to do so...
"I think that's enough of hide and seek...Now face me." It was a female voice.
I slowly got up and surrendered as I turned my back and finally revealing to me that the leader of the fire attack was actually Sam Maximus. She was an armor like a knight. She also had a scarf. A closer look made me finally notice that it wasn't yellow but it was actually golden.
"Sam Maximus..."
She chuckled, "I thought you were an AI but there's no way that Azreal could already have an advanced infiltrator like you already. Then again, I shouldn't even think about that considering that we're talking about Azreal, here...Hello there, White."
Two of her men then got behind me and arrested me. Sam however prevented them.
"Don't worry White. Since you are a Pantheon, you're not really a part of Azreal force besides blessing him with some of your aids. But...since I already caught you...maybe you can share that blessing as well?"
"I'm not sure about that, Sam."
Sam signaled her men and I was immediately pushed and pressed to the floor.
"You better be careful with your next choice of words, Cyclone White. Although you're a Pantheon, you still have a responsibility to help your fellow subjects. You are a 'living god' but it doesn't mean you can be an immortal one. And by the way...next time when you call me correctly...and that is, your majesty..."
Sam looked at me in disgust as she said that.
