Chereads / Huguel / Chapter 11 - 11

Chapter 11 - 11

Chapter 2

Huguel's body suddenly went cold. He raised the gun and threw it to the ground.

He fell forward slowly. Blood seeped from the wounds on his chest. There was no heartbeat. It was already too late. His mind was starting to drift and he became desensitized to everything. He didn't know how much time had passed. He didn't know where he was and he didn't know where they were keeping him. Suddenly, a voice came from behind and woke him up.

The voice: Hey Hugo wake up. Open your eyes.

Hugo looked up. Standing over him was a tall figure and he recognized it. Victor was his boss

Huguel looked into Victor's eyes and his consciousness slowly slipped away. Everything went dark and silent

Huguel opened his eyes and saw around him, he was inside a ward of a hospital emergency unit

He was confused. Was that the hospital? Where he was? Why was he in the emergency unit? Hugo didn't understand

Huguel: what's going on where I am?

Victor sat on the side of Hugo's bed and put his hand on his shoulder. Hugo could see that Victor's face was wet with tears. Hugo felt bad seeing Victor cry, he wanted to comfort him but he didn't know how. So he didn't say anything. Victor wiped away the tears.

Victor: We met you at the bar last night

Huguel: what happened to me?

Huguel looked at Victor, there was pain in his eyes.

Victor: They took you to an emergency room last night. Doctors said they found no serious damage to her body. You've got a mild concussion and a broken cheekbone, but other than that you're fine.

Huguel sighed deeply. He hated hospitals, especially those connected with mental illnesses such as mental illness, depression, and suicidal thoughts. Hospitals always seem to suck people out of life. Hugo was glad he didn't have suicidal thoughts or suicidal tendencies because he hated hospitals and wanted to die as soon as possible.

Huguel: what do you mean by "they" took me to the emergency room?

Victor: the doctor said some guys broke into your apartment after you disappeared last night and brought you back

Huguel's eyes widened when he heard Victor's sentence.

Huguels: did you call the police?

Huguels: why don't I remember anything?

Victor: they called the police, they came here as soon as they finished examining his injuries

Huguel: ok so can i go home now?

Victor: yes, we will give you an exam now, so try to behave

Huguel nodded

victor: wait here

Hugo watched him leave. Victor was walking towards the infirmary.

He came back holding a clipboard in his hand.

Victor: here is the result of our exam.

Huguel looked at the papers. His eyes scanned all the information and finally stopped on one section.

Huguel looked back at Victor.

Huguel: What is it?

Victor: what is what?

Huguel: There's a section in my medical history that says I'm bipolar... I don't have any signs of it, why would I have bipolar disorder?

Victor looked at Hugo in disbelief. How the hell did Hugo not have these signs or symptoms of bipolar disorder, that's what he thought.

Hugo: after all, what does the section say?

Victor took the clipboard and looked at what Hugo had written.

Victor: this is the result of your blood test, the one that Dr. Jones had it done

A huge surprise spread over his face when he heard that the doctor had asked for something.

Huguel: why? Is there a problem with that?

Victor: no, no, it's perfectly fine. You've been on meds for years, I doubt that will happen.

Huguel looked down at his hands as he thought. He had forgotten that he used to take medication for bipolar disorder. He was really surprised that the doctor actually knew about his condition. Well, he guessed that there wouldn't be many medications involved in treating bipolar disorder, unless you were dealing with something that serious, he had known the doctor for years after all. But what would that doctor think about being bipolar? Hugo wasn't sure the doctor would believe him. Hugo's father died when Hugo was still living alone. And when he found out he was bipolar, he sent money from his inheritance to Hugo to keep him afloat during his depressive period. After returning to France, Hugo took care of himself by working as a mechanic and taking care of his younger brother Klaus, but he eventually quit his job and focused on helping Klaus. After all, the doctor had seen his work, and Hugo knew he probably believed him, because if the doctor didn't believe him, how would he explain why he managed to fix the machine in the garage? That was definitely a question no one else would ask, Hugo thought to himself. So why would the doctor ask such a thing?

Huguel's eyes wandered around the room as he tried to organize all of this in his mind. It was getting harder and harder to concentrate, and soon he fell asleep with his head on the pillow.

It was almost morning when Hugo woke up. He felt terrible. Everything hurt, every part of him ached. He was dizzy and his brain had trouble focusing. He struggled to sit up, but he couldn't.
