"You choose yet?" His thick voice questioned me as a reply to my question. I looked over his shoulder and they were still laughing and discussing, did they seriously not notice that Uche wasn't sitting among them anymore?
I looked away from them and back at Uche, but I got an unexpected kiss from him. His lips took mine in a way that I couldn't even refuse. I should push him away but his lips were like sugar so I let him go on.
He separated our lips with a satisfied smile. I pouted to feign annoyance but he already could tell that I wasn't annoyed with his kiss. He knew I enjoyed it just as much as he did.
"Okay, you kissed me now, can you go back to your friends?"
"No."
"Uche..."
"I said I'll leave you alone if you let me kiss you."
"Yeah, that just happened."
"No. I kissed you without your agreement, that doesn't count." He said and I opened my mouth to say something but no words came. I saw a cocky smile take over his lips.
He seemed to be enjoying what he was doing to me because his smile after my speechlessness told it all.
"I'm just kidding, I'll leave you alone now." I heard him say, I smiled.
He pinched my cheeks and stood independently of the desk now, not leaning over me anymore. I thought he would just leave but that wasn't what happened. He caressed my left knee with his right hand, looking at me keenly as he did that.
"I really don't wanna leave you, Julie. I can't get enough of you."
He still rubbed on my knees, I wonder if he knew what he was doing to me with his hands just on my knee; his veiny palms making me a little nervous. I bit my lips, now I didn't want him to return to his friends.
Unexpectedly, he stopped what he was doing to my knee and turned, leaving me surprised. My eyes followed him as he went back to where the group of boys were.
He didn't return to his seat like I expected, he went to where Nick sat, a seat next to his. They seemed to be talking to each other in whispers. After their little talk, Nick stood up and picked up his bag. The other guys got up too, one by one, some of them going to get their bags from their respective seats. Uche got his too and followed Nick as they both approached me.
"Let's go home." Nick just said and started towards the door but Uche stood waiting for me to get my bag.
"What did you tell him?" I asked Uche.
"We have to be somewhere, I just reminded him."
"Where? where do you have to be?" He didn't answer immediately this time, he just smirked and held out the palm of his right hand for me to take.
Placing my hand over his, he locked our hands as we headed out. I almost forgot that I didn't want anyone to know. Kim was making for the door the same time as us and I couldn't tell if he saw Uche holding me. I immediately retracted my hand from Uche's when he stopped in front of us.
"You are coming right?" Kim asked him but kept his eyes on me as I stood right next to Uche.
"Yeah."
"Hi Ms introvert." Kim winked at me.
Ew.
I saw Uche's brow's arch with an unusual reaction to that. He did not like Kim winking at me and it was very obvious.
"I never see you around, and when I do, you usually don't wanna hang. It's like you don't like people," he laughed, probably an attempt to get me to laugh too but I didn't because there was nothing funny; it was true, I didn't like people.
"I don't like people," I clarified to him.
"But you hang with Uche," He pointed out.
"Well, it's Uche." I pursed my lips after saying that. I shouldn't have, I didn't mean to say that out loud to both their hearing.
"What do you mean 'Well, it's Uche'? Is it because he's Nick's best friend? If that's why then you should know, I am also Nick's best friend." He said to me and I heard Uche snort out a laugh.
"I'm sorry," Uche looked like he was trying to muffle his laughter.
"Really?" Kim gave him a dead look.
"I'm sorry, really sorry. I didn't mean to laugh like that." Uche stopped laughing for a second but burst out with laughter like he couldn't control it.
"I can't believe you are doing this right now, Uche."
"I'm trying not to...." Uche trailed off with laughter, exposing his very beautiful set.
"What's so funny? What I said?"
"I mean..." Uche's laughter was getting mute slowly as he trailed off.
"Guys, c'mon, are we not leaving anymore?" It was Nick standing outside the door.
"We are," Uche said and held ajar, the already opened door so I could go through but I heard Kim again.
"Hey Julie, just a minute with you?"
"Huh?" I turned back to him.
"Talk to you for a minute? I won't take longer than that, I promise."
"Why do you wanna talk to her?" Uche asked him.
"Who wants to talk to her?" Nick asked, deciding to get involved.
"I do," Kim said like he expected Nick to approve just because it was him.
"The fuck do you wanna talk to her about?" Nick asked again.
"Really Nick? C'mon, I just want to talk her, why are you acting up?"
"What did I tell you about her?"
"I remember, that's not what I want to talk to her about. Do you question Uche like this when he talks with her?"
"...." Nick said nothing after Kim's question.
"We have to go there, remember? You can't talk to her, we don't have time for that." Uche told Kim.
"Talking to her for a minute is not going to affect when we get there, is it?"
"I don't wanna talk with you." I decided to end everything, they looked like they were about to have an argument with Nick and Uche against Kim.
I heard him breathe out a loud sigh.
"See you guys there." He just said and walked past me, then Uche and Nick. He looked mad, mad and disappointed.
