A ring of a bell snapped Seth out of his concentration, "finally its done" he muttered under his breath as he looked down at his final philosophy paper.
"That's it people pencils down!" Mr. Laroi bellowed out from the front of the exam hall as he started moving from desk to desk collecting them, but looking at the expressions of his fellow examinees it did not go so well "hehe" he chuckled knowingly, he's situation wasn't any better "this was one hell of an exam" he thought.
With that he looked up and sees Mr.Laroi's chubby out stretched hand "Your paper please Mr. O'Connor we don't have all day" he said looking down at Seth, well it was more like eye level for the short chubby professor "oh uhm yes of course'" wincing as he handed his paper over.
A few minutes Later Mr. Laroi shouted again "Good it looks like all the papers are here you are dismissed enjoy your summer vacation ladies and gentleman" grinning slightly.
"You don't have to tell me twice" a girl from Seth's left said and he summarily nodded in agreement. This exam was a doosey stretching out his arms up over his head he yawned, collecting his things and moving towards the door.
As he stepped out into the long hallway connecting the exam halls to the rest of the campus he heard a voice "yo Seth over here man!" he turned and saw Jason and Miko standing hunched over a door of one of the many administrators offices "what the hell are they doing now?" Seth muttered moving towards them.
On his way towards Jason and Miko he noticed something, the crazy amount of people usually by this time of year. The majority of students have left to go home or on vacation only poor saps like himself still had to write exams this late into the semester "thats weird , I should ask those two maybe they know" Seth pondered while bobbing and weaving through the streams of people trying not to bump into anyone. Jason was the first to notice Seth's approach and before Seth could ask what they were doing Jason shouted "Whoooa you look like dog shit man, I know you were writing a final exam and all but geez"
"Yea I had an all night cramming session and a four hour exam paper it really did a number on me as you can see" Seth answered lightly smiling. "Oh by the wa-" he started but was suddenly cut off by Miko "he was probably balling his eyes out for his precious Natasja so much so, he couldn't concentrate on studying and had to cram the night before the test" she said sarcastically
Jason snorted as he visibly struggled to hold back his laughter looking towards Seth as anger welled in him "NO! you know who the one was who ended it was in any case she left with that physical science major and his friends on a trip or something"
"Yea… I am pretty sure they plenty physical at this point" Jason chirped in quickly ducking to avoid a swing from Seth laughing as he ducked Miko giving a light chuckle as well "Anyway" Seth said while rolling his eyes "what are you two doing and what's with all the people? Isn't everyone supposed to be on break by now?"
"They have found another one" Miko said grimly!
"Yea have a look" Jason said while pulling out his brand new X Phone
"Is that a new phone? Didn't you like just get a new one like just the other day?" Seth asked as he looked at Jason's fancy new phone.
"Yeah, I did but got bored with that one so I got the new one pretty cool right?" Jason answered with a proud look on his face. "yea super cool" he said
"One of the perks of having a rich daddy I suppose" Seth thought while waiting for Jason to find the picture , "Aha got it take a look just like the other four'" Jason said sternly as Seth took the smartphone "It really does look a lot alike but how do we know it isn't some sort of prank by one of the frat guys or internet trolls you know they will do anything for attention" Seth said with a smile and immediately after Jason interjected "Hey man not cool we don't do everything for attention and don't compare me to a bloody internet troll " garnering a smile from Miko as she stood up from her half crouched position "Yea we also thought that it was a fake but everything is way to similar". She fixed her long ravenous black her back into a ponytail she continued, "First the monstrous statue in the middle of the room, which by the way they still can't find the origins of. Secondly is the mark on the wall behind the statue, that eight legged dragon octopus symbol and finally the dried blood always so much dried blood" holding out her hand with four fingers up "Ohhhkk but that doesn't mean that it is rea-" Seth tried to finish but Miko interrupted him with a serious expression "they tested the blood its human so its real"
Seeing Miko's demeanor Seth sighed and gave in. No point in arguing with Miko once she gets like this "ok ok so its real, but why are you guys so serious about it all of sudden and what does it have to do with all the people here and what's up with you two standing outside the administrators office like 2 weirdos?" Jason and Miko looked at each other dumbfoundedly, "Dude do you own a phone just have a look on the schools newspaper website. Urgh, you know what never mind I will just tell you they think that the victims of this latest whatever it was came from the University " Jason said as Seth's eyes widened. "Seriously how do they know that they came from this school specifically, I mean its not we the only school in the area?" Seth asked inquisitively "They apparently found one of the key cards to one of the dorms" Miko said
"Really? have they found who the key card belongs to?" Seth asked looking between Miko and Jason.
"Nah apparently the key card was so badly damaged or burnt or something that they couldn't see who's it was, couldn't even get the log off the magnetic strip" Jason answered as he to crouched down to look through the window of the administrators offices. As he continued "they have swept all the dorms but with so many students who have already left for the summer it will be hard to know who it was exactly so they came here hoping it was one of students writing today but there was no such luck".
"They?" Seth asked looking for any signs of the authorities or the men in blue " I don't see any cops or detectives walking around" he said looking at the both of them .
Miko peered her eyes away from the window and said "you really think the top brass of Silverwood will allow the police to come barging onto campus? They care to much of their image for that to happen so with that said the top brass has come themselves to solve this problem" pointing inside the administrators office a crease furrowed on Seth's forehead as he looked at Miko in confusion "No Police….who has that type of sway in the school maybe one of the lecturers? Ahh nope they might be good at what they do but not any of them have any real say in what happens on campus maybe the Dean? Oh wait scratch that he might have influence on campus but he is too riled up in his own research studies to care " as he thought he glanced at Miko who was giving him a eerie smile while still pointing into the office "If not the Dean then who?, who at this moment has that much authority" as he kept pondering and pondering for a few seconds longer something clicked and realization hit him like a sack of bricks.
" Wait wait are you saying that the 'oh so reclusive Headmaster', the one that none of us have ever even seen before, is looking into this matter personally?" he said squeezing in between his friends trying to take a look inside the administrators office. " Yep" Jason answered "Can you guess who the Headmaster is?" Miko asked as she made space for Seth next to her "Mhmmm" Seth muttered as he pressed his hands in a cupped shape trying to see into the dimly lit office.
There were five people standing in the office, two of them Seth recognized immediately, they were professors of the school most likely the ones who's exams were written today. They were most likely asked to help search too see if any of the students didn't show up for the exam and relay the information to the Headmaster. He then moved his eyes over to the other three people, one of them looked to be his age, it could be a young officer from the police station. Liaising between the school and the authorities but Seth was sure he has seen him somewhere or something but he couldn't put his finger on it so he moved on over to the tall man with ashen grey hair neatly cut, in a black suit perfectly tailored to his build and height "Is that the Headmaster there" he nudged at Miko as he pointed to the tall man. "Try the person next to him" Miko answered "What the young guy is he the Headmaster isn't he….well a bit to Young?" Seth said "No you moron the woman" Jason said pointing in the office again "What woman" Seth thought as pressed his hands to the glass to have a look. He scanned the room looking for the seemingly obvious woman in the room struggling until he sees a loose grey swirl in the air as a beautiful woman turns to speak to the young man who now moved to stand behind the tall man he's eyes refocused on the woman. She was wearing a tight fitting black dress exquisitely showing of her curvaceous body. Seth audibly gulped at the sight of her, she looked to be straight out of a fairy tail. Not one single imperfection! It reminded him of high elves that you see in video games and movies "So that is the Headmaster" he said under his breath as he jumped up with disbelief evident on his face "Hold up are you two telling me that criminally gorgeous woman in there is the Headmaster of this school"
"Yes and I think you mean Headmistress " Miko added "I don't believe it, have you seen her she's like I don't know perfect and that ass" Seth said as he gestured to the door. "I know right" Jason shook his head in agreement "wonder if I could get her on a date and maybe some fun time afterwards" , Seth said lustfully. Miko audibly groaned as she straightened herself "both of you keep it in your pants" as she threw punches suspiciously aiming at their nether regions both Jason and Seth flinched backwards as they know all to well what Miko's punches could do, " anyway" she said what, do you think they talking about"
"Probably something in the lines that they would like to continue the investigation when school reopens blah blah" Jason said, moving back close to the door. Warily looking at Miko cupping his crown jewels. Seth smiled seeing Jason and he to followed suite moving closer cupping his family heirlooms, "Oh grow up you two" Miko said watching the two of them as she turned back hunched over looking into the office. Seth and Jason followed both hunching over next to Miko trying to see into the office but just as Seth was able to make out what was happening, he locked eyes with the beautiful woman, staring at him "oh shit" Seth said quickly moving away from the window. "what is it" Miko asked "she saw me", Seth answered and before Miko and Jason could react the door to administrators office opened. "What do we have here?" a rough and aged voice said as the tall well dressed man walked out followed by the rest of the group.
With a nod of his head the clean cut man dismissed the two professors as well as the young man that was for some or other reason glaring at Seth. He is not sure if he has met this person before and offended him maybe but, Seth couldn't figure it out so he just shrugged it off when he heard the most beautiful voice he has ever heard in life " it seems like we have some nosey little mice scurrying about ey Mr. Becket?" just as Seth was admiring the complete serenity of her voice he felt something, an overbearing weight crash onto him it was not something physical but his body still took the strain. He looked over to his friends and saw that they to werfe under the same mysterious force but before he could try say something the headmistress continued. "So what were the three of you doing?" she asked looking at the three of them with the mysterious force still pushing down on Seth. He tried to speak "Um", he tried but nothing it, was as if his body was locked in place. "What the hell is this he thought?" as he heard a voice come from his left it was Mariko who said " We just wanted to find out if you have found anything". Seth was absolutely stunned to hear her speak so casually under the same weird force as he. He looked back at the Headmistress who answered " Ah Miss Mariko, how has your father been? Please do tell him I send him my regards and I can't wait for our next shogi match" she chuckled as she continued." To answer your question, no unfortunately we haven't found the persons to whom the keycards belong."
Seth immediately frowned at the statement "persons , keycards? I thought it was only one person?" Seth mused but Miko spoke up as if reading his thoughts " keycards, persons I thought there was only one", she asked curiously. "My mistake, my mistake, I mean't to say keycard we aren't even sure that the person actually came from the school, it could've been stolen but none the less we have notified the families of all those on campus to please let us know immediately if some don't turn up home" she said sternly. Seth looked over to Miko seeing, as she was mulling over what was said but she didn't ask anything else he was still stunned to see that she could converse so easily while being pushed by, well, whatever this was. Suddenly the weight lifted, as if it wasn't even ever there. Seth immediately looked to his friends, relief evident on their faces, they somehow also had been released from whatever that feeling of pressure was. ?He nudged at Miko, wanting to ask her if she also felt that weird pressure just now but before he could start the Headmistress spoke up, "with that I see all curiosities have been satiated, now are there any other questions you would like to ask?", she said turning her gaze towards Seth "like for instance how a criminally gorgeous woman like myself could be the Headmistress of this prestigious school?" she said, as she moved towards him. "Oh shit, oh shit , how the hell did she hear that I didn't even say it that out loud" Seth thought frantically he looked to his friends for help but they both lifted their shoulders to shrug with a mischievous smile on their faces, "you bloody traitors I will so get you guys back for this , what am I gonna do think Seth, think you talked your way out worse situations think dammit think" but before he could say anything she was standing right in front of him.
