"I won't do something like that, you dummy. I have a feeling that all his kinds are cruel as that. He is the first werewolf I had ever seen and ... and would you believe me when I tell you that he tore-"
"He tore the dog and chew him, blah blah blah." He paused, "Stop this already, while our clans are out there, creating boundaries, dying due to the fight you are here drawing, and wasting the time that can be used for doing something else."
Hazel felt offended as she looked at her childhood friend. She was already used to his mannerism but no matter how much she tried getting used to it and not turning around being annoyed, she couldn't just do that. This boy always finds one way or the other to annoy the hell out of her and she couldn't just stop him.
"While you are here sitting down with me and wasting your time." She fired back, her eyes glittering brighter than it was which made her look so fiery but at the same time, cute. She tossed her long hair away from her face again, dramatically. "So now, boy, who is the useless one here? You or me?"
"I wouldn't call me staying here with you a waste of time because I enjoy watching you do anything," he paused when he spotted her controlled anger, "But I prefer we do something else. Like escaping this bloody hell and feeding on humans. We could see that as a way of killing two birds with a stone. We would get out of boredom and then also preserve food for our clan."
Hazel shook her head slightly and swallowed, "I can't do that. I can't drink human blood. You are definitely going to torture them and suck the blood out of them? How much do you plan to save for the rest of the clan?"
"Maybe two? You should drink human blood someday, Hazel. No wonder you are not capable of leading a troop." She eyed him but he continued, "The chosen ones are among those of the vampires that need more blood than anything. We are the chosen ones and we should do what we ought to do. If you don't drink blood now, you might easily get infected by the disease because of the lack of immortality in us, even the immortal ones are getting kicked off."
By this time, Hazel was already done with another shit. This time it even looked less than the boy she had seen that other day.
The image of that same boy whoever she recalls scared her more than anything. At a very young age, she had seen a werewolf eating a fellow mate like him. She saw the werewolf boy tear the boy apart despite his pleas. First of all, she had thought that they were friends but then, everything escalated suddenly and she was so shocked.
She still recalled that day when she had to hide behind a tree in case the scary big boy would do that to her too. She was small and he was huge then but now that she was older, she couldn't say the boy was entirely huge. He looked rather too small for her. She had seen his red pure eyes glitter that evening. Even though she could not see his face, she had seen those eyes. They were terrifying, pitiless and all the evils she could think of.
She had continuously dreamt of that many times aback but she did not tell anyone what she had seen. Instead, she said she had seen him eat a dog rather. If she hadn't lied, she was sure that everyone would have been too concerned for her.
The thought of being like that bad werewolf was just too scary for her. She had tasted human blood before and it tasted like honey but still, she could not stoop so low to do that.
"No matter what you say, Micah, I will not feed on human blood. I would rather drink animal's blood."
"Animals' blood is poisonous because of the unhealthy food that they have digested, I hope you are aware?"
She looked at the shit on the table and said, "Maybe I should just keep this one. I don't think I can ever get the description."
"That is fine by me."
Micah was a nobody, entirely different from Hazel whose father was one of the royal's best warriors but when it was discovered that he had the mark of the chosen one, he was immediately adopted by the king to keep him safe. He was now the royal's property just like Hazel.
Though the chosen ones are supposed to be given birth to on the same day, Hazel came much later have Micah had been born. So people did not believe that both of them could be the chosen ones but having seen no marks in every child apart from them, it was later confirmed that they were.
"If Hazel gets married to you, Micah, what would you do?" Hazel asked out of the blue. He wasn't even expecting it neither was she but then she was glad that it came out of her lips that way.
He looked at every object in the room apart from her and then he said, "I don't like the idea but we have no choice. It's destined that way."
Hazel was down after hearing him talk that way. It was so heartbreaking that she had no idea when she squeezed the paper she had told herself to keep instead. All he meant by what he said was the fact that he was forced. It meant, he never even dream of marrying her even after knowing the fact that he should or he would. But then, she had been mysteriously crushing on him ever since ten, when it was discovered that he was the chosen vampire. Though she acted like she has nothing towards him but he, he was 25, old enough to know who he truly desires. Unfortunately, it wasn't her. She felt a pain deep inside her chest, in her heart.
After mustering up much confidence, she looked up at him slowly and asked, "What if...what if the witch queen tells us that we can marry anyone," she gulped. "Would you choose anyone else?"
