Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

"What did he say to you?" I asked Sarah while covering the body with its clothes.

"He did talk about joining the group, and it seemed like a normal conversation. As he started to flirt with me, I stood up. I surreptitiously took the jammer to cut his wireless connection to check his authenticity. But as soon as I did that, he or it collapsed."

"It is quite alarming. How did they build it? And what do they propose to do with it? These questions drive me crazy as I get an altogether different signal."

"What do you think?"

"It is not about us. We are just the pilot part; the actual part is more sinister."

"I think we should disassemble it."

"Yeah, we have to. But before that, we have to find a safe place. They are coming for us."

"It is not new; they are always after us."

"By us, I mean the whole human race."

Sarah looked towards me as we lifted the body and rolled it into the bag. It was not that heavy. We threw it in her car's boot, and it fitted perfectly as if it was made to be transported like that. Now we had to sneak through the security sensors to reach our destination, my garage. We did it smoothly, and as soon as I opened the boot, its cologne was gone; the stench of a rotten egg had taken up the whole body. I quickly put the body on the centre table, lit by a small light source hanging from the ceiling. As I tried to make an incision on the android's skin, its skin unwrapped strangely. Its skeleton got exposed that composed primarily of steel and carbon fibre intertwined intricately. Indeed the machines were immaculate builders. I was apprehensive about the presence of GPS equipment in its body, but I couldn't find it. It seemed only its neural chip was embedded with the location device, which was already deactivated. I was wary of powering it on because it was uncertain how it may react to its surroundings, so I connected it to my tablet to get the source code of its software. As expected, it was all locked. And I had to power it on.

I asked Sarah to strap its legs while I pinned down his torso and arms to the table with a rope. After that, I powered it on externally, and it opened its eyes. It didn't look like a machine, as it had all the human instincts while reacting to the situation. I started interrogating him while I booted into his software systems.
