After we had awoken from our sleep I had made us some light but energising food. Since I didn't wake up last night it means nothing had come into my range of perception. In my first few days in the labyrinth I couldn't get any sleep due to fear of getting slaughtered by a monster but the longer I survived and mother more life and death battles I had the better my instincts and perception had developed. After a while I got a skill that allowed me to control my perception and expand the range at the cost of accuracy which was then merged with my void skill.
We would be traveling to a town not far from the capital called Erudite to get the information i couldn't squire and join the guild to gain access to the capitol without a fight. While I did say it was the closest it was still far from the capital due to a law that denied the creation of towns near the capitol due to wars that would cause harm to said cities but I highly doubt that's the actual case.
As we approached I thought of creating a vehicle of some kind of faster travel and ease but I had no clue what to make. I could make a bike but I have no clue how engines work but I could replace the entire engine and mechanism for turning the wheels with mana but I would need some blueprints for a device that could turn the wheels. Another thing to the list of things to do but it would be worth it.
The close we got the more fields there were mountains encroached the borders of the town like natural walls protecting it from the back while the front looked like a wonderful place to settle down. The golden fields and green hills followed by a waterfall made a wonderful and peaceful atmosphere. The only problem for me was the people that already resided here otherwise this would be a perfect place for an impromptu base. I did want to make a special item that could teleport us between the last floor of the labyrinth and wherever we are since we had conquered it and I gained the know how from the letter left behind and with my bond to Lilly I could use space-time magic to transport us if I inscribe a magic circle to the object but it would take months compressing the circle down to a size that is carryable without my inventory magic.
Most of the people had ignored us but the closer we got to the actual city the more eyes that were on us. Each face looked at us with either fear or scrutiny. I guess the patrolling adventurers were sizing us up already. I released a slight aura to stop them approaching and headed into the town with my hands in my pockets and Lilly nearby.
The Layout of the town was simple shops and the like at the front while residents homes are at the back where they are the safest. Not the best way to build a town due to trouble expanding but works for protection. A inn was near the river with a water mill beside it slowly turning away probably for a mill inside.
I walked up to a adventurer and looking down I asked where the guilds were. I was no psychic I had no clue where to go. As we walked towards the guild hall I noticed something.
"You don't really talk much Lilly and I haven't heard you ask about the outside yet?"
"Ah.. Um yeah I am just happy to be outside to see the view but I didn't think that you would have liked talking very much since we didn't talk much in the labyrinth as we can tell what each other needs just from movement alone. I'm sorry if I worried you."
Great I just had to upset her. We know each other better than ourselves to the point words really aren't needed but to know that she wasn't talking due to me still feels... bad. I turn to her and give her shoulder a gentle rub.
"If you want to talk about things I'm all ears the time we did spend talking were the most enjoyable parts of the labyrinth. Just messing about in that place was a highlight to my day. I like to talk too from time to time but you know what I'm like just silent as I don't know what to say" I look at her and see it has improved her mood as I flash a rare warm smile before I turn back around.
Even before I entered the labyrinth I had difficulties expressing emotion but after the first monster had took my arm most of the positive emotions that I could feel died and the lack of a companion to talk to decreased whatever sociability I had. I just hope in some way I can keep her happy forever.
Before we entered I felt a presence on the other side of the door waiting for us. As soon as I opened it a fist was flung at my face but it was so... slow compared to the labyrinth monsters and it lacked power as well. I grabbed the fist and flung the person over my shoulder cracking the ground as I heard a breaking noise coming from their arm. Lilly was about to smash their head in before I stopped her.
"Who are you" A gutteral growl emitting from my voice adding a deeper tone.
The other adventurers got up from what they were doing and pointed their weapons at us.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you" Pulling out my revolver I aimed it at the assailant's head and shouted "You have three seconds to put your weapons away or I kill them."
Slowly they put their weapons away but not before I the sound of bones breaking and flesh tearing coming from where Lilly was. One who had specialised in stealth hat tried to come up behind Lilly but she kicked them so hard their head exploded. I pulled the trigger without any second thoughts killing them instantly. From the second floor we heard someone shouting at us to stop. They looked stronger than the rest either a high leveled adventurer or the guild master either way it didn't matter.
He was built like a brick shit house as he jumped from the second floor down to us. Staring at the others he ordered "Stand down NOW! You'll only get yourselves killed."
"I apologize for the rude greeting I am the guild master of the monster hunting guild. As an apology can I offer you anything?"
~Guild?? Master POV~
In all of my years of being a adventurer and guild master of this place have I met many people like him if I could say that. He disarmed and killed one of the highest ranked adventurers in this town with ease and his companion saw through a master assassin's stealth with ease. As a guild mainly focused on the extermination of monsters we spend a lot of the time in the field against said monsters and these two in front of me... Weren't human. The man specifically gave of a wild aura filled with blood and savagery but the thing that confirms that he is a monster is that his aura can be seen with the naked eye! A trait only monsters have. No wonder why my adventurers acted like they did. Of course they tried to kill them I was going to do the same thing on instinct but to be able to do what they did with ease... Only the capital can take care of them I need to do damage control.
