Chapter 4 - Eye of the beholder

We crept down the stairs with practiced silence keeping a good foothold in case of an ambush. We had been through at the least 20 floors with weak beings that had been nowhere near the strength of the monsters of the floor of the guardian. It just didn't feel right like this place was now trying to make us complacent.Sure the last couple floors had certainly gotten harder but that was due to the environment. I had honed my movement to a precise degree. I was getting closer to what I wanted to become more efficient more deadly and extremely ruthless against the enemies ahead of me. As the creater of the Gunmanship skill it had leveled up rapidly to the point where it was almost max level. This hallway has started to look different than the others. The metal walls changed to an obsidian looking rock as we slowly reached the bottom where a door carved out of a matte black material impeded us from going further. After checking our resources we finally entered into a massive room with carvings like the door spread like roots. A mound of conglomerated flesh contorted around itself screeching as if it was in pain. Blood poured from the many faces of the creature as it separated to show a large maw filled with teeth and parts of what appeared to be clothing in between its teeth. It's organs can be seen moving an pulsating inside completing the creatures bodily processes keeping it alive. I check its level before I try anything.

Shit that's high but not impossible with teamwork. I nod to here and then pull out my revolvers and unload all of my bullets before reloading using my inventory to automatically load them into the chamber. The bullets harmlessly bounce off of the faces like nothing. I guess that it must be some really strong skin or it has a resistance to physical damage.

Die 'Gravity Bomb' An upside of Lilly being a biological golem is the fact that she can use all elements with some proficiency but she can also use shortened casting for a few of her spells.

Gravity Bomb' is one of her high tier magics creating a explosion of gravity that tears the opponent in multiple directions at once and them imploding on itself. The residual energy creates a dense gravity field that slows the target. A perfect aoe spell or spell for a large target like this. The creature screeched as its body tore at the edges of the faces slowly dislocating itself from the rest of the body. The flesh mangled itself when it imploded. I wasn't just standing there so when it started screeching I threw some motives made of highly flammable material mixed with the slime. It set ablaze obscuring its vision to some degree. This all happened in a few seconds as I drew my lever action rifle from my back. Firing a shot it pierced its flesh but did little damage. We would be screwed at this rate as since we entered it had been charging up a colossal spell and if we couldn't kill the fucker. We're dead. This is perfect. The rush I'm feeling... It's been so long since I got to stretch my legs after upgrading my gear for so long. I feel alive hahaha.

~Lilly Pov~

As we attacked the disfigured monster I couldn't help but look at the person that found me. When we first met he had a feral almost inhuman air. He could feel my strength I could see it in his eyes and yet he was ready to leave me. I was just awakened for the first time with no knowledge of who or what I was and the first person I see was about to leave. I'm just happy he had a change of heart. But as I look at him now in a life and death situation he looks like a deranged monster grinning from ear to ear as he fires at the monster using his home made weapons. We're going to die and yet he looks so happy. Before I could continue he did something stupid. He jumped towards the monsters mouth!! He jammed his hand into the creatures mouth up to his arm. However I noticed that he was no longer smiling he jumped back before hovering in the air. Just after a trap spell went off in front of the creatures mouth and a large explosion blew him back. No No No don't die on me.

Hahh Haah Haahh "As I thought it's weakness is inside it's mouth" cough cough

He got back up as if he wasn't broken from that explosion. His skin was hanging off of his body and he had lost a hand and broke his weapon. But before I could stop him he charged towards the creature again. I activated my most simple yet effective support spell slow on the creature giving him a better gap to enact his plan but before he who've he looked at me and disappeared from my sight. Before I knew it he was in front of me his mouth leaking liquid mana. As I looked down I saw a massive spike made of pure darkness jutting through his chest.

Why... why would he protect me he hardly knows me. But as I looked back at him I could see it a broken lonely man who has been through more than he let on.

"Hey stay with me you told me once your dream to leave this place and go home. I want to see your home so please stay strong and don't leave me yet."

I focused all of my mana and condensed it into a ball before using the only element I had access to at the moment spacial magic. Picking up one of his weapons I ran at the creature before firing at the creature without a care for my safety. My clothes tore and marks were left on my body. I fell as a ligament was tore but recovered right after due to my body's structure. Firing again and again at the creature I finally heard a clicking noise. I did not have any ammo nor could I charge the weapon to fire it again but I had gained a precious amount of distance. Jumping towards the creature and using a skill that he had ingrained into my shoes I made a platform in the air as I pounced at the creature

I was finally face to face with it and it opened its mouth to fire a beam of concentrated fire. I couldn't give enough as it hit my side severely burning away my clothes and flesh but severely damaging my mechanisms in the process. I could survive this if I end the fight immediately so I fling the orb into the creatures mouth and jumped backwards. The creature bloated as it seemed to activate all of the skills it could but it was useless. It was reaching it's limit as it exploded into it flesh and gore all over the walls and us the only thing unaffected a small glowing gem. The miniature black hole I had created expanded and succeeded in a majority of the surroundings but the gem sat there unmoving as the construct came to an end.

I ran to him the only person I knew a person who saved my life. He shouldn't have tried to save me and kept on killing the monster he knew what to do but he purposely went to me. I don't want him to die. As I was about to take out the spike the room glowed and a large magic circle formed beneath us. I held onto him but I couldn't get out of the room. Everything turned white but I-I vowed to look after him and be with him forever. After all these months I can finally grasp my unknown emotions. Care and love for another being. How....Human?
