Chereads / Me and My Mates Against Fate / Chapter 14 - 14. ‘Sensed I’m Not Human’

Chapter 14 - 14. ‘Sensed I’m Not Human’

I could see the fury building in their eyes, but they knew better than to say a word.

"Come to my office tomorrow to get your measurements and choose your design."

Okay, that shocked me. Wasn't she going to choose?

"I wouldn't be so heartless to let you wear something you dislike. Now, if I came with an evening gown, would be happy to wear it to the event." There was much sarcasm in her voice.

She was quite snarky, I must agree.

"Good night," was all I could I saw to her.

"Let me drop you off to the door. we don't want you getting lost now, do we."

"He is not a child," a guard retorted losing his cool.

"Never said he was," her dry voice came, "more like a lost puppy, don't you think."

She was eying them to speak further.

"Something is burning," she stated simply.

We all sniffed the air to find nothing, only the guards dragons were raging in fury in their heads.

They looked at her questioningly.

"You are burning," she pointed at the guard who had previously spoke and snickered.

She tests every man's patience.

She began walking inside, taking my hand in hers.

Her hand was so tiny and cold in my huge, warm one. I gently pressed it as she shivered in the cold breeze.

At the doorstep, she forwarded her hand with had a single packed pill.

"It is for the spicy coke; I don't want you falling ill before the event."

All eyes turned to us.

"You'd be responsible," I retorted.

"You could have simply spat it out and left," she snapped.

I could smell fire now. Someone must have lost control.

Dragons don't like spicy food and to think their king had to drink some spicy coke because of her aggravated them.

She turned and left while everyone glared at her. I simply went in and drank the pill.

Roar- She has her own way.

Sure, she does.

I mind-linked the guards to come to the living room.

"No one is to touch her," my voice was edgy.

They looked shocked, probably expecting me to order a kill tonight.

This put me further on the edge.

"She is your future queen." Several protests were made.

'She can't talk to his highness like that.'

'She doesn't deserve to be queen.'

'How can a queen be so ill mannered.'

"Enough!" my voice echoed in the dead silence of the night.

"She was chosen by my parents, the previous king and queen."

The exclamation but them at bay.

Some still weren't ready to accept it but knew better than to step out of line. I wouldn't tolerate anyone going against my mother and father. Perhaps that was why I accepted her snarky attitude without trouble unlike the others.

*End of POV*

When it was after midnight on Earth, all the royal second generation gathered in an old mansion somewhere in between their realms.

The first to reach was Xade and he lit the fire for some warmth.

The demon and witch children arrived next.

"What's the matter, Xade?" Dominic questioned.

"Let the others come."

Xade is the Vampire Prince from the Blood Realm. The Demon Princes are Darius, Dominic and Dax. The Magic Realm has Princess Endora and two princes- Prince Illius and the Crown Prince Strider.

"Engel had some business to attend to, he'll be here shortly," the Angel Princess, Angela informed the others as she came.

There were only two kings from their generation- Engel from the Angel Realm and Nyx from the Fire Realm.

Both Realms had lost their prior kings in an assassination attempt from the Shadow Realm. Except, everyone in Dragon family but Nyx has died in that assassination leaving him alone to rule.

After Angela came the phoenix siblings- Princess Willian and Prince Theon.

The fire realm had two royal families, phoenixes residing in the northwest and Dragons in the southeast.

As almost everyone had arrived, Xade finally turned towards them.

"To answer your question Dom, this," he pointed at his left cheek which was imprinted with the designs on the sole of women's footwear.

"How did this happen?" Engel's voice came as entered with a fake gasp, mocking Xade.

"That brat just knows how to get on one's nerves," Strider hissed in anger

"Ivy?" Endora asked.

"Who else?" Strider snapped.

"She just keeps quiet and ignores the world, brother," Illius put forth his thoughts.

"She is blind," Dax added.

"naïve," Darius whispered.

"Care to explain, brother?" Dax mocked.

"She was nearly hit by a car this morning."

"She ventured into the woods with the horse…" Strider stopped remembering her last word, 'bitcher.'

"What did I miss?" Nyx asked loudly, "Oooohhh! Someone got beaten for the trouble he caused."

"What did you do?" Strider asked immediately, remembering her ramble something about him, "Xade Boy."

All eyes turned to Xade as his own eyes widened.

"Sh-she t-told y-you?" he stuttered.

"Not me exactly, she was talking to her dumb horsey bout you."

"What happened between the two of you?" it was Nyx who demanded.

Xade recounted the event from the morning skipping the parts where he opened her jumpsuit buttons and when she slipped off her jumpsuit in her sleep and he was in a deep sleep to realize either.

That would get him beaten. Instead, he simply said that he used beer-stained hands on her white t-shirt and jump suit.

Everyone laughed at how Ivy dealt with the troublemaker and his best friend intervened.

"The troublemaker's last strike backfired," Theon, the phoenix prince laughed.

Illius then asked Strider what took him so long. To this, Strider recounted the events in short.

When Darius was asked, he simply said, "nothing much, I saved from coming under the car and she thought of the devil when she looked at me."

"So, you're the devil," Strider whispered, but they all heard it.

Seeing their questioning gaze, he added, "She also told that horsey of some 'devil.' Must be you."

"You all got wonderful names from her already," Angela laughed.

"We got a problem, guys," Xade expressed seriously.

"How to save you from imprinting your body?" Willian, the phoenix princess joked.

"That too but this is more serious," he said with utmost seriousness and sincerity in his tone which surprised everyone.

Xade is an easygoing troublemaker and rarely gets serious. This happens only when it is very necessary, or something is bothering him.

Everyone went quiet and let him continue.

"She seems to have some powers and knows I'm not human."

"…Well, you aren't." Endora spoke

"But she isn't supposed to know."

As Xade expected, everyone was flabbergasted to the extent they couldn't cover their expressions.
