"The last I checked; you were single."
A voice broke through Nyx and Ivy's 'moment.'
"Xade." Nyx let go of Ivy not knowing how she would feel being so close for long and that too when they have an audience.
"The last you checked; I wasn't going to be coming either."
Poor Xade.
"Why don't you both head inside? Many guests have already arrived. You can both mingle with them." Xade tried changing the subject.
"So, I can ridicule you in public? Sure." and Ivy stumped his attempt without batting an eye.
Ivy held Nyx's palm pulling him to go inside with her when another head popped towards them.
"Sorry for being late, boss." Gold's voice stopped Ivy as she saw him rush to them and also almost stumble on his own feet!
'He can't seriously be done with all the tasks I piled on his desk, can he?!' Nyx glared at Gold.
'What did I do wrong, now? Please show some mercy on this humble servant.' Gold cried miserably in his heart.
"What are you doing here?" It was Ivy who questioned before Nyx and Xade could say anything.
Gold simply blinked his eyes not understanding the question at all.
'Why would I not be with my boss?' and then his eyes widened on realization that he is a driver.
"What is a mere driver doing here following you around?" Ivy turned to Nyx, "isn't your assistant supposed be the one? And I have never seen your assistant either."
*Cough, cough* both Xade and Gold were at a loss of words.
They all could see the twinkle in her eyes which she didn't bother hiding at all.
'Just how fast does she switch targets?!' Xade still remembers how aghast he felt when he heard from Gold about all happenings and could hardly believe his ears and his most trustable source.
"I promoted him to be my personal assistant." Nyx crisply lied.
"Yeah, yeah. My grandpa lied about Gold being your personal assistant indeed." She trampled every bit of his pride with the blatant truth showing him that she has known everything from the beginning itself.
"Whatever. Let's go in already."
The hall stilled as Ivy and Nyx stepped in and all eyes turned to them. Most of the gazes held awe while the others held clear envy.
They both calmly moved through the crowd with Gold tagging closely behind.
They were both soon approached my many businessmen and celebrities who had been invited. Most of them were directed to Nyx since Ivy's identity was yet to be disclosed.
She immediately left Nyx's side and went to the cocktail bar and Gold followed her on Nyx's signal. They both sat on two bar chairs side by side. Ivy ordered her preference and urged Gold to do so, who finally did as told after a lot of nagging.
Not long after, while they were sipping their cocktails, the hosts of the event, Xavi and Xia approached Ivy with Xade following behind them.
"If it isn't the lovely Ivy." Xia greeted Ivy who simply smiled.
"Thank you so much for your invite, Mr. and Mrs. Xanthos."
"The pleasure is all ours," Xavi took initiative to push Xade forward, "This is my son, Xade."
"Oh! I know. We already met, right Xade Boy?" Ivy spoke in an innocent voice.
"Uh- he had come to invite you personally." Xia spoke adoring her son, not minding the little nickname Ivy gave him.
"He did and caused quite a commotion in my company and office. Did he not mention it?" and Xade glared at her.
As Ivy spoke those words, the Xanthos couple and Gold felt power crushing them slowly and couldn't understand what was happening all of a sudden and after a couple minutes, finally gasped, bringing Xade's attention to them.
Seeing the rage in Ivy's eyes, Xade immediately realized it's her power rolling out without control. A few more minutes and the hall would be filled with corpses alone!
'But why am I not affected?' he glanced around and saw the effect slowly spreading.
Meanwhile, in the garden, a man wearing a pitch-black suit with a black shirt, tie and also black shoes turned to the hall as his pitch-black eyes twinkled at the change in energy he felt in the environment.
He strode in and his eyes immediately fixated on a charming beauty who exuded a deadly aura. Glancing around, his eyes picked Nyx at another corner, unaware of what can unleash any second.
He walked to the deadly beauty, getting enchanted by her with every step, every breath, every heartbeat. It seemed as the distance between them decreased, he was finally returning home after ages of wandering around.
He tugged her fingers snapping her out of her raging emotions and felt electrified.
"What could make this lovely lady so angry?"
By now, the people around the bar had also felt something constrict their lungs and the tightening of their chest when the feeling suddenly flew away as though it never was there in the first place.
The Xanthos couple looked at Ivy with horror before Xade sent them away and said he will take care of his mess.
All this while, Ivy stared at the man clad in black with striking pale skin and the face of those heroes she only read in books. She was captivated by his beauty when she felt another tug on her fingers.
Coming to the world, she pulled away her hand from man clad in white while glaring at him simultaneously.
"who're you?"
"Oh! Did I forget to introduce myself? My apologies, young lady. I am Theon Phelix." He introduced himself while placing a kiss on Ivy's knuckles who felt flutters in her belly.
Theon exchanged a glance with Xade first, and then Gold, who was still stabilizing himself.
Ivy eyed Theon suspiciously and turned away without a word. Seeing her walk away, Gold hurriedly bowed before Theon and Xade and followed behind her.
"The beauty breaks my heart," he exaggeratedly touched his heart, "so tell me, Xade Boy. Is she the lovely Ivy?"
"The hell with your questions! Answer mine first. And don't call me that."
"What is it you wish to ask, Xade Boy?" Theon laughed as if he had cracked up an extremely funny joke.
"YOU!!" taking deep breaths, Xade calmed himself before asking the necessary question, "What on earth just happened and how are my parents so deeply affected by it and even Gold, a dragon couldn't withstand what she did whilst I, felt nothing and by the looks of it, neither did you."
Suspicion clouded Xade's vision.
