The moonrise event was similar to those one would read in werewolf novels where all wolves would gather on the night of a full moon and hunt except, in this case, many public figures who are very influential or have newly risen to fame and success are invited to mingle and share the same roof for some hours.
It is a high-end banquet and not all newcomers and old public figures are invited but only some who fit in the category whilst some others by pure luck. It is a surprise even for the biggest stars of any industry to receive the invitation.
But that isn't all.
Ivy received not just an invite but an extra something, what you can call a request.
If she were to attend, they would have a fashion show with her as the highlight since it would be her first public appearance as the CEO of 'Lasting Infatuation' also known as 'Overnight Success.' This is exactly what made her frown when reading the invite.
She had chosen the most minimalistic designs for this show, shocking all her designers and editors but no one dared question her as it was already shocking enough to know she accepted to attend the banquet.
Since the Xanthos didn't wish for many people to be part of the show and only some too great personalities, they had kept the show for after dinner in the garden.
The fashion show had now begun and Ivy's dresses glimmered under the moonlight. Even the designers were shocked with the glimmer when the realized the specific material Ivy requested to be used for the dresses.
While everyone's eyes were glued to the small runway, a pair of white eyes never left Ivy. Those were more than enough to scare the shit out of people for having no eyeball at all a full white sclera on show.
There were only seven dresses Ivy chose and everyone was fascinated and couldn't wait to order some already. Everyone knew dresses of Lasting Infatuation were rarely available in many pieces. Of course, some were but not many at that.
The maximum was at most three hundred and the main designs from shows and events were only available in single digits while the secondary designs only 30 or so.
Finally, it was time for Ivy to show up. No one expected her to show herself since she never did and kept her in the shadows.
Ivy walked through the shadows and finally, after 5 years, showed herself to the world.
Somewhere in the shadows, those white sclera eyes turned red from the anger bubbling inside. And suddenly, out of nowhere, those eyes disappeared.
Ivy only smiled confidently before her eyes flew to a part of the garden in the dark.
Many people were shocked to see her and gasped. She had been present throughout the banquet laying low but everyone had still seen and eyed her for the fabulous dress she had adorned from the sidelines.
Noticing nothing amiss, Ivy walked down the slightly raised platform of the runway. Seeing her getting off Nyx lifted his hand to offer her but Theon beat him to it and held Ivy's hand and helped her down like a gentleman.
Nyx was stunned as his hand still stayed midair while Ivy stared at Theon after getting off the platform.
"Thanks."
She tried to pull back her hand but Theon didn't let it go.
Theon enjoyed the electrifying feeling that run up his mind and body as he held Ivy's hand.
Nyx pulled Ivy's hand out of Theon's and narrowed his eyes at Theon who was acting weird.
"I am leaving." Ivy informed Nyx as she pulled away from his hand.
"I will drop you." Nyx offered.
"You think this deadly beauty needs you?" Theon laughed out these words and they both ignored him.
"Cristian is here for me." Ivy simply said, "thank you for accompanying me tonight."
Ivy gave a short smile and turned to leave.
Theon felt irritated at being ignored bluntly by not just her but the man too, someone he has known since childhood.
Nyx saw Ivy leave the garden from the entrance to the parking lot and watched as she entered a car until it drove away.
Xade had approached the both of them in the meantime and was making small talk with Theon, mainly about whatever happened by the bar.
"What the hell are you up to?" Nyx gritted his teeth after the car Ivy occupied was out of sight.
"What are you talking about?" Theon feigned ignorance.
Many guests had left by then. And only a few remained, talking to the manager who handled the show, giving orders and singing prasies.
Nyx grabbed Theon by the collar, "You know what I am talking about!"
The remain guests gasped at the sudden violence. Xade hurriedly sent the remaining away.
Theon raised both hands showing surrender as he simply said, "I don't."
"Holding her hand and not letting go!! You hate her so stay away. DO NOT TOY WITH HER!"
Nyx spat on his face before pushing him away from the collar.
Theon took a few steady steps back but barely stumbled.
"Firstly, I hated her, do not hate her anymore."
He emphasized each word and Nyx balled his fingers into a fist controlling himself.
"Next, why won't I hold my mate's hand?!"
Theon spoke in low yet audible and monotonous voice yet very slowly to make sure Nyx hears every word.
Xade had his jaw dropped many feats into the ground and eyes wide as saucers.
"Wha-what did you say?"
Nyx was too stunned to comprehend whether Theon was lying or not.
"You heard me. She is mine!" Theon snarled.
"uhm- guys…" Xade spoke in an urgent voice placing his hands on both their shoulders.
Nyx and Theon turned to look at Xade in frustration when they saw the Xanthos couple standing there too. That seemed to sober the both of them up.
When Xade returned after a small chit chat with the guests about what happened and bidding them goodbye, he saw his parents at the garden's entrance from the hall and hurried over when he heard Theon address someone as his.
He was astonished at the exclaim but knew better than to just stand by and immediately hurried to stop them before something worse could happen.
