Chapter 6 - Adrienne.

Adrienne sighed when she saw him again. She wondered what he was doing there and what he held in the parcel. She hoped it wasn't bad news.

She walked into her room and closed the door after her. Then she straight to her bed and sat down on it Adrienne sighed. Just when she thought that she was healing from the past, he surfaced again and brought back those memories she had tried so hard to bury.

Tears rolled down her eyes as she remembered how difficult it was for her to get over the dreams. A maid had woken up in the middle of the night one day and found her having a bad dream.

They tried waking her up so many times until she gasped and regained consciousness. So many years in Blarney Castle had made her grown accustomed to the people and their way of life she loved living here than back at Glengariff.

If it were not for these people, she would have been long dead. When they rescued her, they had taken her back to their Pack, not minding that she wasn't one of them or that she would grow up one day to turn against them.

Packs were now mindful of who they rescued because they believed that the person could betray them one day since she was not part of them. However, Adrienne had vowed to serve the people of Blarney Castle since the day they had rescued her. She owed them her life.

Until she died she would have them because they had rescued her even when our people had condemned her to death.

She cleaned the tears on her face with the hem of her gown, as she remembered how the Alpha had defiled her that night. Even her screams were not enough to deter him from hurting her.

She had pleaded with him to let her go but he had forced her against her wish. And just when she had thought that Ryan would come to her aid, he had been the one who hurt her the most.

She would not let them get to her again just like they had gotten to her before. This time around she would fight tooth and nail to keep her sanity.

Adrienne couldn't get over the fact that she actually met him again in the flesh. His audacity irked her. So many men would have stayed far away after committing such an atrocious act but he had the audacity to show up again. This meant that he was not afraid of what she could do to him.

She would get her revenge on them sooner or later. She was still biding her time. Adrienne hated him terribly.

She hated him for being a bad son. His parents were kind people and they were known all over Glengariff during their days.

After their deaths people had expected their son to follow in their footsteps. However, it had come as a big shock when Ryan didn't behave like them.

She would make him suffer some more if they were to meet again. She was grateful to the people who picked her up and brought her to the neighboring pack.

Adrienne had two goals; to pay back the Alpha of Glengariff and Ryan Makarios in their own coin, then she would serve the people of Blarney Castle with all her life. It was only a matter of time then she would start.

Five days later

Ryan had started implementing his plan slowly. On days when he got tired, he remembered that he had to get his mate and to prove to the people of Glengariff that he was worthy to be their new Alpha and not the elder who had taken his position because he wasn't capable then.

When he awoke that evening he had spent his time walking through the woods reminiscing on the days with his parents. That alone strengthened his resolve to get back his throne from the wicked man.

His first shot at it was when the elder had called for him some days later that he was to go round to collect tax from the people. Ryan had stood his ground.

"We need to stop giving the people heavy taxes. They can't even feed themselves. We should relieve their burden and not add to it." Ryan had said to the Alpha's surprise.

He smirked as he remembered the shocked expression on the Alpha. He gaped at Ryan wondering if he was the one or someone else.

The Alpha ordered him to go on the second day and he stood his ground once more. His rebellion was evident to the guards who also wondered what had happened to him.

He was on a path of change. If he didn't dare the Alpha, the change would never come. They collected heavy taxes from the people every week and when the people had complained, he ordered most of them to be taken to the dungeon for punishment.

Others who heard about the tales of the dungeon were terrified at the thought of it. They'd rather pay the heavy taxes than succumb to the harsh torture of the place. He had stood his ground. They wouldn't collect the taxes any more and if the Alpha insisted because of his selfish interests, Ryan would look for ways to spoil the goods from the people.

Then the Alpha would know that he was serious. However, that wasn't the only thing he was doing. Ryan had also been training in his free time.

When everyone had gone to bed, he'd rise up and train till the wee hours of morning. He was getting ready to take over. If he was to tackle the elder, he needed to be sound and also wise in his dealings or the man would beat him even before he started.

He had started this journey with the hope of winning and he would. No matter what happened, he wouldn't back down. Ryan Makarios would make his parents proud.
