Then, turning to face me, he said
Son, don't associate people who will never become annihilators. They don't understand our world and we don't understand theirs. This will only create conflicts. So be wise when making friends.
I immediately understood what he meant. He said that I couldn't make friends that were not like me because it will only bring me pain. There was a whole other world for the annihilators. If I got stuck in this world, then I could never move forward in that one. Once I became an annihilator, I could make a lot of friends who were like me and no one would blame me for being a bad influence. I was convinced. My dad managed to comfort me and motivate me to train harder in order to become a better annihilator. My dad was really crafty.
I always comforted myself by thinking of his words. But I always regretted my actions.
"Tony! Tony! Wake up!"
I came back to my senses. Nicola was shaking my shoulder.
"Yes? What happened?"
She shook her head like she was disappointed. Meanwhile, Miss Carsalina was talking about the importance of this trial.
"Oh my god! You really are a dummy."
"What? Isn't Miss Carsalina still explaining stuff?"
"We are in the top three! It is a tradition for the top three candidates to talk with the smartest captain in history! Look, Christina is already in the other room!"
I looked around. Indeed, she was nowhere to be seen. Nicola gestured for me to follow her. She headed to a different door than the one we entered through. This one too was decorated like the one at the base of the tower, but this one was much more magnificent. Me and Nicola went through it. Inside was a beautiful lady sitting on a similar throne to those on the tower. By now I was convinced that they had these chairs in stock.
She was a little shorter than me and elegantly dressed. She was blond and her eyes were emerald green. She was indeed very beautiful. If someone else were to look at her, they would be unconsciously captivated by her beauty and wouldn't be able to look away. But my dad taught me a method to avoid such circumstances. It was simple. All I had to do was bite my tongue till it bled so that the pain will distract me. I did so. After that, I looked away immediately. She looked at me surprised.
"Mr. Schleider. I'm very impressed. Not many in the universe can snap out of it."
Nicola and Christina looked at me with inquiring expressions. I suppose since they were girls they wouldn't have to go through what I did a few moments ago.
"Thank you, Captain Ann"
