"Now now, Mr. Schleider. Greed will only bring you your downfall"
I came back to my senses. Indeed, if I greedily drank alien blood there's a possibility for me to blow up. I also noticed that the captain started calling the other two dears and kept calling me Mr. Schleider. She was really weird this way. Anyways, I was curious how many people died.
"Captain, exactly how many people drank alien blood, and how many survived?"
She looked at me solemnly.
"Over a hundred thousand warriors drank the blood. Only 5000 survived. And now, only 400 bloodline families carrying on their blood remain."
This was very shocking. Only 5000 people survived? The chances of an individual surviving are 1 in 20. Even though it doesn't seem much it is a very big loss to the annihilators. Even an E-class annihilator has a lot of value. Nicola seemed extremely stunned as well. I wondered if I would survive if I ever drank alien blood. Also, was the green mist that surrounded me when the master came here his bloodline power? I had never heard of an ability like that. Captain Ann cleared her throat and cleared the tension in the room.
"I'm sure this is very shocking for you too young warriors but this is the whole truth behind bloodline families. Now then, the true purpose of you three coming here is to be rewarded"
"Rewarded?" Nicola found her words.
"Yes indeed. I also am one of the bloodline descendants. My ability is very useful to annihilators. But unfortunately, I can only use this skill once every 6 months. So I can only use it once for the top three candidates every year. This skill doesn't involve speed or strength. This involves mental prowess. That's why; this is the price for being the top three in the last trial."
"Captain, what exactly is your ability?" Christina inquired.
"I'm glad you asked dear," she said, "my ability is unique. It is the ability to enhance your strongest mental trait."
This didn't really make any sense. Strengthen our strongest mental trait? What did that mean?
"Christina dear, would you come here?"
She slowly headed towards the captain. She was now next to one of the strongest beings in the universe. Captain Ann put her hands on either side of Christina's head.
"Now then dear, I'm going to look for your strongest mental trait. Don't try to resist."
Christina nodded. The captain closed her eyes. A blue light emerged from her shoulders and slowly propagated through her arms toward Christina's head. Christina didn't seem to notice. Her eyes closed by the time the light reached her head. It was the same for about 5 minutes. I and Nicola were watching and didn't dare to make a sound. After that, both of them walk up. Christina seemed normal. The captain seemed rather surprised and was staring at her.
