Chapter 3 - Worthy Soldier

The sky…or space completely turned bright green and through it came an Xrisk which was gold colored and decorated with red jewels. I could only think of one guy with one so fancy. THE MASTER ANNIHILATOR! Everyone around me was surprised too. The master usually never appears in the annihilators' selection. Why did he come this time? Even the captains stood up in surprise. This Xrisk was a small one compared to the one we arrived in (well duh…it's the personal ride of the most respected human).

The Xrisk slowly landed on a crater-like place that perfectly fitted its base. Oh right, my mistake, those were called axtromites. They were made for landing Xrisk (yeah…the plural of Xrisk is Xrisk). The golden Xrisk had landed on its designated spot. Wait a minute. I… I PEED THERE! Did no one see me? It's a miracle I'm still alive. As soon as I realized that a cold tingle passed down my spine and electrocuted every inch of my body. Just how lucky am I?

So the door of the Xrisk slipped down at a slow pace and once it fully did a whole lot of steam released from the inside. Then a steel door was dragged up and came out a person. After the steam cleared I saw him. I saw the master, the master of annihilators. He was the most elegant, kind looking and confident person I have ever seen. Rumor has it that he had the power to beat ten Lrates (the third most powerful race) in a showdown. Surely no human could pull that off. No human but him. He wore black robes with a green lining and long sleeves.

Then he said, "Greetings, my fellow annihilators"

He looked at the applicants in the arena.

"And my dear applicants", he smiled.

He walked up to a hoverboard being held up for him like a stair by two black-robed…bodyguards (though I doubted that one of the most powerful beings in the universe needed any).

"Whoa", I muttered unconsciously.

I bet everyone did so. After he got on the hoverboard, it levitated all the way to the tower in which the captains were standing astonished by his unannounced appearance. When he reached the top, all the captains bowed down. You'd think that they'd bowed down out of fear, but what I could see in their eyes was total and pure respect and gratitude (don't ask me how I saw that far, I just happened to be close).

One captain looked up.

"Master, what are you doing here unannounced?"

The master looked at him as if he was a child. Well, he was in a way.

"Well, aren't I allowed to see how the applicants are doing? After all, one of them might even be able to be a master. Overlooking their first step would be a waste wouldn't it?"

It was clear that the master was lying. I mean if he didn't want to overlook anything, he could've arrived any other year before this which he didn't. This was literally the first annual moon selection that a master had attended. I kind of felt special.

The other captains didn't question him and rose slowly with convinced faces. Either they were too stupid to get the context (no offense), or they simply had a deep trust in him. But the applicants didn't really buy it. Not that they could do anything about it.

"Now then, I believe our determined applicants have waited long enough", said the master, "Let's start the moon selection!"

Afterward, the master was offered a similar throne as the captains but he got to sit several steps ahead. I was confused. Did they have those fancy chairs in stock or something? Well anyways, a bell rang once from somewhere and the arena lit up. It was so lively. A white-robed lady with spectacles and brown hair came forward from the foot of the tower.

She said, "Welcome to the moon selection! I am Carsalina Mcwendy.", she seemed rather strict," Today, out of the 1024 applicants only a tenth will be allowed to be annihilators. There will be a series of tests to deem you worthy."

That was kind of unfair don't you think? I mean what if all of the candidates are worthy? Will only a tenth be chosen out of them? Or do the examiners just have great intuition?

Whatever it may be, I will not lose.
