Chapter 14 - Monthly-Exams - III

Kuaishwa was weird. He randomly appeared anywhere he desired and talked in a rather abstract manner. He was not someone I could easily trust for some reason and on top of that, I couldn't see him as a god-like being whatsoever.

Today was my next fight which ended as quickly as previous one with my victory. These students were physically rather weak and maybe the committee was picking up on the fact. Amelia mentioned discussions being held right after my test.

It was a widely known fact that I was not a magic user but higher ups knew I didn't even belong to this world and that I come from a peaceful world with almost zero battle knowledge outside of self-defense training which itself is simulated in nature so it wouldn't give me enough experience.

...

After my fight, I was with the usual group of Amelia, Luke, Layla and Elena, drinking tea and having snacks in the office of student council president.

"So, he showed up again and mentioned Lady Furrina. He seems to be taking an interest in you in particular." Elena said after I told them what happened last night.

"He doesn't belong to this world and is not corrupted in the way nobility is. He simply can't comprehend the situation like we can. He is a safe option." Layla kept it real even if it hurt my self-esteem a little.

"He sure is. He seems to not be able to understand how big the gap between us and the grand order is. It's easy to explain though. He never grew up with such figures. He was never told to worship them or respect them. To him, they are just a group that possess ridiculous amount of authority over humanity." Elena added in.

"Lady Furrina is hiding a secret? I wonder what the secret is. Ah~ I would love meeting her at least once." Luke was in his own world thinking about the woman I knew nothing of.

"Ignore him. Anyways, your fight was just like before. It seems like you prefer not drawing out battle." Amelia made note of my fighting style.

"Yea, I learned self-defense which isn't exactly fighting. It's more about how to stop a fight. Also, these people are weak but Luke is weirdly strong."

"O-oh?" He looked at us and grinned widely. "I never train with my magic. My strength is mine and mine alone."

"Any particular reason?" I asked.

"Anti-magic units can be a hassle to deal with during a war. They can just seal your magic is they're good anti-magic units. In such case, you have to rely on your own strength." He answered.

"Anti-magic... OH?! I never met Charlotte!" I facepalmed. "I was told my Professor Frieda to meet her but I forgot."

"Charlotte? Right... Professor wanted you to get close with best students of each division. Do you want to go see her tomorrow? Or wait till the tournament is over?" Elena asked.

"Tomorrow sounds good. I don't want to delay things."

...

The next day, I was standing in the ring holding a wooden sword against another student. It seemed like usual but before I knew it, he left my area of vision. Did he teleport? No, magic isn't allowed. It wasn't humanly possible but before I could even think anything, I received a painful blow on my shoul- no my neck no... my legs. He was too fast that even my brain couldn't process where I was being hit.

As I was about to faint, a healing magic was cast upon me. I was no longer in pain and just as I stood up properly, a team of four guards surrounded the kid holding a talisman of sorts to his forehead.

"Kyle Von Watson, you are disqualified from the tournament." A guard announced but to everyone's surprise, the talisman was spontaneously set on fire. The four guards jumped back to create some gap but a purple aura started emitting from that kid named Kyle.

"W-what is happening?!" He cried out. But then he screamed in pain and agony as light started emitting from his eyes and mouth. A light blinding everyone.

I opened my eyes to see a monster standing in front of me. It was a minotaur like monster standing at least ten feet in height. An axe in one hand and shield in other. It slammed its axe onto ground missing all the guards.

Haha... stupid... I thought before electric discharge erupted from beneath the ground causing entire ring to be destroyed. Guards helped me get out of the position but Amelia jumped into the field with a sword in hand.

"Stronger than I thought." She softly said to me before the minotaur like beast was caged in a box made of thunder magic. The eight edges of the box shot out electric sparks that pierced through the minotaur.

I think minotaur had some kind of resistance to thunder magic because it was hurt but that magic spell would've killed a normal person.

"Got lucky this time." She flickered towards the minotaur and started trading blows with the monster.

"H-how?" A guard said in disbelief as his voice trembled. "That was... the spell was... strongest spell she has."

"Strongest?" I looked at him confused. If it was the strongest then Amelia has no way to win. She may be buying us time.

"Get everyone out of the academy." I told them and they agreed before leaving me by myself in the entrance to the ring.

"Watch and learn." A voice came from behind me before a figure dashed past me. It was Kuaishwa. He touched the minotaur and it fell onto the floor. It tried standing up but every time it tried, it fell over again and again and again. It was enough time for Amelia to come back to the entrance.

"Are you okay?" She asked while checking me for any wounds.

"I should be the one asking that question. But what did Kuaishwa do?" I asked.

"He is a god. How would I know?" She answered.

But then Kuaishwa raised his hand in the air and a black orb appeared in his hand that went up in the air and started pulling everything towards it including minotaur. As the minotaur got lifted up from the ground, it's body started disintegrating and soon, it was no more than a pile of minced meat.

Something that was unfazed by school's strongest magic user was defeated with one attack by a god? Was that a black hole of some kind? An actual one would've destroyed the planet but Kuaishwa didn't even look tired. He walked back to us and sighed.

"Can't think of who did this." He said.

"Hold up- Why was the minotaur falling over and over? And what was the black orb thing?" I asked. I could've understood it if there was a magic circle involved but his magical abilities didn't use magic circles.

"Tee-Hee." He tilted his head with a grin.

"You won't tell me, right?" I asked disappointedly.

"AAAAANYWAYYYYS~ Amelia, do you know anything?" He asked but she shook her head.

"So what happened to that kid?" She asked in return.

"So, y'know how monsters come from a creepy dark place called the void?" He said. "The void actually contains toxic amounts of dark energy and not monsters. It randomly appears anywhere and sucks anything it can and disappears. These organisms that are unfortunate enough be sucked into the void gets converted to these monsters. Recently, it had appeared a little away from shore of the Scofinia. Someone must've taken away from energy from the void and tried experimenting on it."

"Wait?! But we are not taught that." Amelia said.

"It's divine knowledge. A lot you know is factually incorrect but it's for your own sake. Nothing good comes out of seeking divine knowledge." He smiled. "Anyways, I'll leave for now and start investigating. I don't think it's something I can ignore anymore. And about the tournament... Kara. You're the winner of today's match. I, the god of the wind, the grand order ruling over the dominion of the win, Kuaishwa, declare you the sole winner of today's match." The last line was said with too much sass that I wanted to kick him in the ankles.

"If it's what you have declared, I'll let the committee know." Amelia bowed to him. Kuaishwa faded away again like smoke. Is it his magic that is too strong or is it his understanding of the magic? Or both?

...

We were all in the cafeteria recounting today's event.

"Why did you say I was stronger than expected?" I asked Amelia.

"You actually didn't die from those blows. Any other student, except me, would've." Luke answered instead.

"A minotaur is not that common. Usually you can only find a handful of them in the wild. I think minotaur has been spotted less than twenty times in last year. A platoon is required to deal with it. And at least, three healers. Jumping into battle alone is basically asking to be killed." Layla added in.

"That minotaur was thunder one and yet Amelia jumped into the fight. But I wonder who would've won." A woman spoke as she entered the room. She was wearing glasses and had short pink hair. Her eyes pierced right through my soul.

"Ah! Charlotte! Come, sit with us." Amelia offered her a seat which Charlotte took. Right between her and Elena.

"Of course, that minotaur would've won." Amelia answered followed with a soft laugh.

"She is just as modest. Even with type disadvantage, you would've won. Difference was battle experience." Charlotte continued.

"But we got to see Lord Moh fight! He killed the minotaur in just one attack and even that was without breaking a sweat!" Luke was a fanboy I suspect.

"Oh? Right. I heard about your progress in magic circle manipulation. Want to join anti-magic division?" Charlotte asked and I nodded. If it was past me, I would've rejected her proposal but right now, I want to grow beyond my past.

"Also, after the tournament, I will leave for dominion of fire and meet up with Furrina. It would be summer vacations so I can spend two months there." I said.

"Going alone?" Luke asked.

"Yes." I answered. No matter how much I want to make close relationships, I refuse to travel with a group. It's impossible for me. The queen would hopefully set up some way for me to travel there, so, I won't have to rely on the friend group I have.

"So, going to court Lady Furrina?" Luke laughed.

"Depends." I answered in dead tone but it caught them off-guard.

"Don't tell me!" Elena slammed her hands on the table.

"Joke... I was trying to joke..." I responded hastily.

"You're bad at joking." Amelia sighed.

"If she sparks my interest, then maybe." I said. "I was never against marriage. I'm just careful."
