The brat and I are walking down the stairs. My mind is busy thinking about the plot in the novel when Cliopatra suddenly raises a weird question.
"Oaf, what type of omegas do you like?" Cliopatra suddenly asked out of nowhere. "Do you prefer your partner as a male or a female omega?" She added, staring at me curiously with her emerald eyes.
My eyebrows crossed together with Cliopatra's question. "No one, I'm not interested in anyone," I answered flatly.
It's true. I don't like anyone. At least, not in a romantic or sexual sort of way.
As an aromantic asexual, I don't feel any urge to be in a relationship or invest myself to have romance with any gender. Not because I don't belong in this world, but because this is who I am.
Having said that, it doesn't mean I don't support people to fall in love and experience the wonders of romance. That's why I don't mind playing the role of a matchmaker.
Cliopatra furrowed her brows at me and said, "that can't be true, Oaf."
"But it's true," I replied somewhat with a blank face.
Cliopatra then grinned at me and said, "come on, we're both going to become an alpha in the future and we're friends, and…"
The brat's ears reddened a bit as she averted her gaze and continued, "friends should share their deepest desires and preferences to each other," she paused, her emerald eyes then glanced at me again as she inquiringly said, "so what's your type?"
My brows creased as I replied. "It's true though."
Cliopatra stared at me for a while. Little by little, her eyelids widened as she gasped like a bolt of revelation hit her head.
Cliopatra covered her chest as she scooted away from me. "You, do you play for the other team?" The brat said in vigilance. "I mean, I don't mind it, but you can't have such feelings for me, because we're friends…right?" Cliopatra added as she tilted her head to the side.
Seeing the expression on her face, I grimace and scoff, "who said that I have feelings for you?"
But Cliopatra took two wide steps, widening the distance between us even more; seeming not to believe me.
I clicked my tongue, shaking my head. "Tsk, tsk, listen brat, I'll tell you what since you're so curious to discover my sexual preference, well, to be honest with you, I also don't mind people like that…"
My mouth twitched seeing that the brat swiftly took one more step aside, adding more spaces from the gap across me and her.
Making another sharp noise, hitting my tongue from the roof of my mouth, I resume in speaking, "...and to answer your inquiries, no, I don't swing the other way," I paused, tilting my head to the side thoughtfully as I continued, "or any way for that matter, well, do you get it now?"
Cliopatra frowned, skeptical with my answer. "If you don't like omega or alpha, then what type of person do you prefer? Is it beta? So you like beta, huh?" She mumbled continuously.
Her blonde head tilted to the side; emerald eyes gaze at me; like she wanted to crack my head open.
I took a deep sigh since it seems that Cliopatra still doesn't get it. "Brat, like I said, I'm not interested in any gender," I said. "At least not in a romantic way," I added.
As we turned a corner, Cliopatra continued to mumble, "that can't be…"
As Cliopatra was busy questioning my sexual preference, a brunette haired girl suddenly came in sight walking in reverse.
The brunette haired girl appeared in the corner, bumping against the princess, making the other party stumble and fall on her feet. With wide open eyes, I rashly went to support the falling body of the girl, but before I could even react, Cliopatra had already swiftly supported the other party on the waist.
Like a fool who suddenly fell in love at first sight; Cliopatra gazes with glittering eyes at the other party.
The female student had long brunette hair, light green eyes, and short petite body. Standing on the side was the familiar face of the protagonist.
With a glance, I quickly notice that Kendra has a complicated expression on her face. Her perfectly shaped eyebrows were weaved together looking with mixed emotion at the tangled two.
Something is wrong with the situation. This isn't how it should play according to what happened in the novel. Shouldn't the protagonist be the one on Cliopatra's arms? And why does Kendra have a complicated expression on her face?
Kendra is supposed to have only met Cliopatra for the first time today. Yet, the way Kendra looks at the entwining body of the two makes me think that Kendra already knows who Cliopatra is. Kendra's wide full lips are pressed together, pursing her lips in distress, gazing in distraught at the situation before her.
Perhaps Kendra already recognizes the face of the princess? Is that why the protagonist looks bothered? So Kendra already had a crush on the princess before they even met?
Despite having doubts in my heart, I decided to get the attention of the three. I cleared my throat loudly, "ahem."
The three glanced at me simultaneously.
I smiled awkwardly under their gaze. Especially when I perceive that Kendra seems to have recognized me as she gave me a light smile.
Seeing Kendra's angelic innocent smile, I can't help but think how Kendra is really an angel.
Expanding my lips into a sheepish smile, I stared at Kendra. "Is anyone hurt?"
I meant that in another meaning because I think Kendra has a crush on Cliopatra. I wish I could ask Kendra directly if she really has a crush on the bratty princess. In that way, I could openly play the matchmaker for the two, but I could only conceal these thoughts for now because Kendra seems to ignore what I said.
"Faye, are you alright?" Kendra said, pulling Faye to her side and roaming her ocean blue eyes to check if her friend got hurt.
This female student should be Faye Truman. I know who Faye is, because this brunette haired girl protected Kendra from the harassment of Nasrin Urduja in the book, and Faye also died at the hands of the villain.
Faye blinked her eyes and comfortingly smiled. "I'm fine," then she stared at Cliopatra and asked, "how about you?"
Cliopatra suddenly became a love struck fool as she only stared in a trance at Faye's light green eyes.
This is not what was supposed to happen. Cliopatra was supposed to fall in love at first sight with Kendra and not to Faye. However, it seems that this brat has already fallen for Faye.
My heart felt that something big was about to happen in this world. Things have been progressing differently from what happened in the book. These changes must have something to do with my sudden transmigration in this world.
'This isn't good,' I thought worriedly. The only advantage I have after transmigrating in this body was my knowledge about the future events in the book. Yet, things happened differently, and now, I no longer know if I could still rely on the events that happened in the novel.
With a deep sigh, I also pulled Cliopatra to my side and said, "this fool is also fine, don't worry."
I then glanced at Kendra and politely greeted with a sheepish smile. "Hi Kendra."
"Hello Nasrin," Kendra replied, staring at me with her innocent angelic smile.
No matter what, I need to make a good impression in front of the protagonist lest I want Lory to hunt me down; like what happened to the villain in the book.
Suddenly, Faye stretched her hand in front of me, attracting my attention. "Hi, I'm Kendra's friend and roommate, Faye Truman."
I took a quick look at Kendra. It seems that there are also good changes that took place after I transmigrated. The brunette haired girl became Kendra's roommate instead of me. And Faye is a trustworthy person, I could rest assured that she wouldn't do anything bad to Kendra.
Anyway, the only person who kept harassing Kendra in the novel was the villain, but now that I transmigrated in this body, no one would bully Kendra anymore. In other words, my smooth sailing ending is slowly progressing.
So with a relieved mind, I took Faye's hand and shook it lightly. "Hi Faye, nice to meet you, I'm Nasrin, and…" then I pointed at Cliopatra beside me and said, "this one is my roommate, Cliopatra."
Seeing how Cliopatra was still in a trance, I decided to wake the brat from her delusions. I raised my hand, tapping Cliopatra on the shoulder softly.
At that, Cliopatra snaps out of the trance. However, I was rendered speechless by Cliopatra's next move.
Cliopatra stepped forward and took Faye's hand, afterwards, she gave it a light kiss. "I'm Princess Cliopatra Kingsley, it's my pleasure to meet you, Lady Faye of the Truman Knights," Cliopatra said in her proud noble voice.
Faye seemed to be shocked as her eyelids widened at Cliopatra, and slowly, she retracted her hand to her side and dryly said, "oh, it's my pleasure to meet you too, Princess."
It doesn't seem Cliopatra noticed the dry tone on the brunette haired girl's voice. The bratty princess even nodded smugly with a satisfied expression, after that, Cliopatra finally turned to look at Kendra.
"And you are?" Cliopatra inquired; her emerald eyes swept a quick glimpse at Kendra's body.
I couldn't help but narrow my eyes at this. I don't know why, but that look Cliopatra gave to Kendra made me feel kind of irritated. However, no one seemed to notice, so I soon returned my expression to my neutral face.
On the other hand, Kendra remained polite and simply answered, "Kendra Salamanca."
'Kendra is truly an angel,' I thought to myself as I stared at the protagonist's innocent smile.
"Hmm, I don't seem to have heard of your family name," Cliopatra said with squinted eyes as her emerald eyes took a swift glance again at Kendra's body.
My jaw clenches at this. I don't like that look. It feels perverted and filled with ill intentions. Protagonist or not. No one should be subjected to disrespect.
I suddenly don't want Cliopatra to get any closer to Kendra. Especially after seeing how Cliopatra seemed to have fallen in love with Faye already. Her attitude to the two are clearly different.
'What the hell is this brat doing?' I asked, annoyed in my heart. I just hope that Kendra won't think bad of me because of this brat's action. I don't want Lory to come hunting me in the woods; like what happened in my nightmare last night.
If Cliopatra only has lust for Kendra; then I would have to rethink whether to play the cupid role for them as well. It's just that…it seems that Kendra already has taken a liking to this bratty princess.
So I remained silent and didn't voice out the words of indignation in my heart. Cliopatra is the female partner. I don't have the right to prevent the love that will develop between them.
So I watch like a bystander on the side.
Soon after that, Cliopatra smirked. "Oh well, meeting a beautiful lady would always be my pleasure."
With that remark, Cliopatra took another step forward at Kendra. Her hand moved to take Kendra's hand. Probably to give it a kiss like what she did to Faye earlier.
For some reason, my body tense and became stiff with what was about to happen. But Kendra moved a step back, and that made me release a quiet sigh of relief.
I take that as a cue that Kendra still hasn't developed her feelings yet into love. It means I won't have to play the matchmaker for these two as well. Which is good since Cliopatra seems to have fallen in love with Faye instead.
Things would have gone smoothly if only Cliopatra didn't act like a brat again. At the present moment, I watch as Cliopatra raises her brow at Kendra, scrutinising the innocent protagonist up and down.
'Not good,' I gulped as I thought.
Kendra, on the other hand, still remains calm as she smiles innocently like an angel.
Cliopatra moved her feet again, but before she could even make a move, I pulled her back on the collar of her coat. I stared at Kendra with an embarrassed smile. "Sorry about this brat," I said.
"Who are you calling a brat, you moron?"
Cliopatra complained, looking at me with a sneer.
I ignored the bratty princess as I kept my gaze glued on Kendra. "Well, the brat and I still have somewhere we need to go, so we'll be on our way now."
At that statement, I grab Cliopatra's red coat collar, pulling the brat away with me.
Meanwhile, the bratty princess avoided her eyes from the two out of embarrassment as she sneered at me. "Stop pulling my collar, you're embarrassing me, you stupid Oaf…!" Cliopatra sneered in a whispering tone, flushing scarlet red on her face.
"Stop struggling then," I replied, dragging Cliopatra's coat as we disappeared on the corner.
After making sure that we're a distance away from Kendra and Faye. I released my hold on Cliopatra's collar.
"What the heck, Oaf, you made me look pathetic in front of those two omegas!" Cliopatra whined with gritted teeth.
Creasing my eyebrows in puzzlement, I held a doubt in my heart. How did Cliopatra discover they were omegas?
Well, I know those two were omegas because of the novel, but Cliopatra shouldn't know about this. Every undifferentiated student in this academy is wearing the same uniform. No one would be able to know which family a student came from or what physical constitution a student has. Students in this academy are categorized by their ability.
Additionally, undifferentiated students shouldn't be able to smell other undifferentiated students.
That's why I feel bothered and confused as to how Cliopatra knew about it.
So with an inquiring gaze, I turned to Cliopatra. "How did you know they were omegas?"
Cliopatra turned to me and smirked smugly. "Because the scent they gave off was sweet," she said, moistening her lower lip with her tongue in a nasty way.
"Huh? But we're not differentiated yet…"
"My father gifted me a ring that lets me smell people's scent," Cliopatra explained. She then furrowed her brows at me and said, "Oaf, you can't say this to anyone, we'll be punished by the academy, do you understand?"
'Another secret to keep,' I inwardly sighed in resignation.
"Let's go, your aunt must be waiting," I said as I started to walk.
"Oaf, don't tell my aunt, give me your word for it, promise me?" Cliopatra repeated as she walked beside me, almost pleading in her face.
I glanced at her and said, "brat, I got it, chill…"
"Chill?" Cliopatra repeated, bewildered.
"I mean, calm down because I understand," I explained hurriedly.
"Oh, alright, as long as you understand," Cliopatra mumbled, sighing in relief.
After that, the conversation ended peacefully, and we went together to the Department of Education.
