Chapter 15 - Icky Feeling

As he was about to try again with his new sliding strike thing, he heard Ava's voice again.

[Prepare yourself, I am picking up a new fate string coming out of you, that also links to this bear. I can't tell in this damn forest what is about to happen, but something is about to happen]

Deciding to take the advice to heart he decided to back up farther. As he was backing up, he noticed after he kicked the bear, it got knocked down in its own mud. Before the bear got up, Lucras hid behind a still standing large tree. As the bear got up, it became visibly angry as it had lost its prey, and roared loudly. And as if to answer it, a fire ball appeared to its side, which knocked it back. Getting up again the bear looked toward who dared fire that fireball towards it, and found the lizard monster. It had red scales and walked all fours, with bright eyes that seemed to be fireballs themselves.

The lizard monster opened its mouth and fire seemed to flow out of its mouth, which shoot towards the bear again. The bear seemed prepared this time as it glowed slightly and stomped on the muddy ground. As if responding to the stomp, a thick mud wall appeared in front of the bear.

Watching this scene play out infront of him, Lucras wanted to leave, but realized that his bag of wonderful plant was on the opposite side of the mud field. He started to try and understand this new enemy as he felt that he was going to have to fight this lizard.

[Now take about 15 to recover to recover yourself before your dumb brain dies after racing in after a fire breathing lizard]

Sitting on the ground, he slowed his breathing as he felt mana came towards him as a warm feeling moved up him. Without something to do he started to focus on this warm feeling and seeing where it was going. Originally starting in his lungs it seemed to move toward the heart and then elsewhere in the body. It was like his blood was the one that carried the mana instead of himself.

As he tried to figure out where exactly the warmth would go after being the blood, a ringing sound came from out of his mind.

[15 minutes has passed, prepare yourself for battle]

As her voice alerted him of the time, Lucras opened his eyes and looked at the state of the battlefield. And oh my were there some changes… The bear that originally looked only exhausted with a few stab wounds now had most of its fur burnt. One of its arms seemed to be missing as teeth marks lined the wound. And the lizard creature's once beautiful skin was now filled with dents everywhere with blood pouring out of some cracks in the dents. The ground around them seemed to be filled with solid ground craters and soft mud ground.

Deciding to watch for a minute to see if he could use anything against the fighting monsters, he hid behind the tree and watched. Slowly he realized that whenever the lizard monster was about to shoot a fireball it seemed to jump back and then shoot. And the bear thing seemed to rush forward to stop it from firing. Once the lizard fired it seemed to get tired and then physically attack the bear.

Deciding the best time to strike the lizard was when was about to fire, as if he could interrupt it, he could get a free stab in. Also he decided to attack the lizard first as the bear seemed to be close to death. Moving thought the tree to reach the area the lizard jumps back to, he prepared himself to move when it was about to fire. As he waited he found some loose dirt, and decided to combine it with the mud on his body. As he made these mud balls the lizard jumped back.

Preparing himself he waited for it to open its mouth, he waited. Finally it opened its mouth and was about to fire, when a mud ball flew right at the face of the lizard, hitting it above its eye. It never saw it coming as it was concentrating on the enemy it was going to fire its fire ball at. With his mud ball hitting it, it was forced to break its concentration and found mud leaking down to its eye.

Lucras raced towards the lizard with his sword in hand, as he slashed forward trying to damage one of its eyes. And for once his sword slash did lots of damage as blood gushed out of the now destroyed eye.

The lizard quickly turned itself towards whoever had injured it, to only received a new injury as Lucras followed up seeing the lizard head turn. Slashing at the remain eye with speed, he successfully blinded the lizard.

[Wonderous strike, seems like you are finally putting your fighting experiences through your thick skull]

Ignoring the commenting crazy lady, Lucras jumped back as the lizard raged. After slightly dealing with the lizard, he turned his attention to the bear which was racing towards him after finding his old enemy.

Seeing that the bear's speed had slowed down, he again used his old strategy to use again. Quickly racing around the bear in the opposite direction to before, he slashed out with his left hand. He felt like slashing with his left hand was a better option than stabbing as he probably just miss his target.

Slashing and slashing, trying to get all the ligaments on the back and sides, the bear seemed to have enough. Roaring it released a shockwave, which instead of running from, Lucras leaped towards. Guessing that he could probably slash the neck before getting launched safely away was a good opportunity, he jumped and with his sword he slashed though a large portion of the bear's neck before getting shot back. After getting up after that rough landing, he noticed the bear on the ground.

Seeing that either the bear was at worst incapacitated, he raced toward the blind lizard that seemed to be completely lost. Preparing his sword and steading himself, he stabbed one of the destroyed eye. Mana flowed out of him as he pushed the blade forward as he used [Final Strike]. As the blade went in, it seemed to stop for a second as a hard object was in its way, but that lasted a second as it soon disappeared and the blade moved swiftly into the head of the monster.

The lizard shrieked as it felt death coming, but before it could even move, its brain had turned to mush, which resulted in it dying. Soon he felt energy come toward him from the husk, it was minute but it was still there. He felt the energy flow out from the lizard and into him before stopping inside of him. It took about a second for the energy to stop but once it was done, the corpse in front of him seemed different in someway. Like when it was alive it had an aura or something and now that it was gone. He never noticed as he was too focused on not dying, and now that that thing is missing its disappearance was felt.

Checking what he felt from the bear, he noticed that it also had an aura, although it was a very weak one. After feeling the aura for a bit he noticed that it just made him feel slightly pressure. Like a feather landing on top of him; it was light, but noticeable.

***EXTRA GORE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ IT AFTER THIS POINT***

Moving closer to the bear thing, he tried to focus on the thing he felt earlier as he plunged his sword into the bear's neck, completely disconnecting the spine and the trachea. As the head turned over, he watched the light in the bear's eyes die out, despair and fear riddled though its eyes as its life vanished.

As Lucras watched his being loose its life, Lucras watched in horror as the bear seemed to try and cry out for help. But no sound came out of its disconnected head. A sickening sight as blood flowed out of this creature that seemed to want to die, to end its suffering, or maybe it wished to live and try again in life.

Guilt filled him as he started to feel a slight pull and energy seemed to start to flow into him. Slowly he watched as life seemed to be sucked out of the bear, feeling an icky feeling coming from this warm flow going smoothly through his blood.
