Chapter 2 - Staying Calm

As I stared at the title of the book, "History of Renasia," I knew I was in a real bind.

Renasia, the capital city of the novel "The Heavens Chosen," was the place I had been reading about before inexplicably waking up here. The story unfolded in a fantastical world with dungeons, rifts, towers, demons, elves, dwarves, and countless mythical creatures.

It followed a classic tale of the hero facing the demon king, but this was no ordinary novel - it had a staggering 4398 chapters! I had reached chapter 2456, where the demon king was defeated, before my friends dragged me off to party.

"If I'm really inside the novel, there's a way to verify it," I thought, uttering the word "Status."

Suddenly, a light blue holographic screen materialized before me, revealing my in-novel identity:

[ Status ]

Name: Cain Stardust

Rank: G+

Strength: G

Agility: G-

Mana Control: G+

Endurance: G+

Charm: D

[ Traits ]

Calm

[ Skills ]

None

[ Talent ]

Sword Talent

[ Art ]

None

[ end ]

Staring dumbfounded at my status, I couldn't fathom how I had zero skills and no art. Even the poorest people usually possessed at least one or two skills, as the government granted them to aid their lives. However, my excitement returned when I noticed I had a rare trait, something you were born with - and I had it.

But my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I read the description of my trait:

[ Traits ]

Calm

- User is more calm

- User can concentrate easier

[ end ]

I couldn't believe it. This meager trait hardly made me overpowered; instead, it seemed quite underwhelming. "This can't be real. Was I really sent into 'The Heavens Chosen' with such weak abilities? I won't last three years like this!" I muttered, feeling the stress building up. Strangely, as if by some magic, my agitation vanished, and I calmed down - undoubtedly the effect of my trait.

With a newfound sense of composure, I began to search the room for clues about Cain Stardust. Surprisingly, I hadn't received any of his memories, and he was never mentioned in the novel. On a table, I spotted a watch, recognizing it instantly as a Z-watch - a device that gained popularity after dungeons appeared, revolutionizing human life. However, it contained no photos or contacts, just one message:

"Congratulations, Cain Stardust. You have been accepted into Renasia Academy. Cadet Ranking: 2598/3000. You are expected to show up at the academy a week prior to the opening ceremony on the 27th of February."

I couldn't believe my eyes. How on earth did I, with my pitiful stats, manage to get into Renasia Academy - the most prestigious institution in the human domain and the academy of the main character? It seemed impossible.

Feeling lost and unsure of my fate, I lay down on the bed, contemplating my situation. "How did I get here, and can I even return home? Mom, Dad, I hope you're doing well. I might never see you guys again," I whispered before drifting off into sleep. The uncertainties of this new world engulfed me as dreams and reality blurred into one.
