Chereads / Scarlet Garden / Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Rosalie greeted Catherine with a warm welcome and she knew that she fell for him. Even though she was disappointed in her, but she didn't express it. Eliot came to the Café and ordered pastry and Rosalie informed him about the big news, 'He has convinced her! That cheat is never changing, and I know that!'. Eliot remarked, 'What can we do? Let's just hope that he changes!'. Rosalie gestured by tilting her head in discontentment. 'I do not seriously want to intervene, but she is our friend!'. Eliot affirmed, 'She sure is!'. Rosalie told him, 'Let's not quit our spying on Oliver! We will have some good lead on him whether he has changed or not!'.

Johnathan summoned up Rosalie in his memories. He wrote about her in his journal as a good part of his life. He wandered off in the architectural sites and at alpine landscapes for some alone time as his siblings refused to leave him alone on weekends. Now they were aware of his secluded errands and accompanied him by tracing him. They learned archery with him. He learned it in his childhood from his mother. He visited the Italian landscapes where he would sit alone and call to mind her mother's gentle affection which he just didn't get the time to think about. Herbert and Liza went to races with him.

His life was changing to better now but the gap in his heart still grew deeper. He witnessed the stars every night. And how similar the sky seems just like that of Keswick, where Rosalie often visited the garden late in the evening to look the bright twinkling stars. They were hope for the lovers and almost a sort of letter filled with happy and good times and memories. She remembered Johnathan as well but now she was coping well. The love grew unfathomable, but it didn't lead to her sickness anymore. She was melancholic but she felt comfortable imagining that he must miss the good times as well. She was certain but time and tide fixes everything, it sure did fix her up but their love that was still not expressed grew intensely.

Rosalie was often concerned about Catherine. But Angie told her to let her decide for herself, intrusion will weaken her resolve to move on in life in any direction. That was her words of advice for her too as she now eagerly desired to visit Johnathan. She was contemplating all about it while sitting in the scarlet garden one evening when her mother joined her. She had a cup of tea for Rosalie as well which she handed over to her. 'Thank you! I needed that!' she said. 'So, what are you thinking about today? Is it Catherine?' said Anne-Marie. She sipped a draught and gulped it. Then she spoke, 'No, not about her till she decides what she actually want!'. 'So, what is it that is keeping you her in this cold foggy night?'. She remained silent and held the cup in both of her hands to feel the heat. 'Maybe it is the matter of heart!' Anne said. Rosalie almost burned her lip with the sip she was about to take. 'Careful, love!' Anne told her.

Anne-Marie laughed and said, 'So, that is the matter! Alright if you do not want to share it with me!'. Rosalie broke the silence, 'Why you had to ruin this beautiful moment for me! I was just enjoying tea with my memories of . . ..!'. 'Alright, okay! Okay! I wouldn't pry you at all! After all you are an adult and know your good well! Know that I am glad that you are the way you are!' Anne remarked. She cleaned her lip with the scarf she wore and then said her, 'It is because of the way you raised me! I love you, mom!'. She placed her cup on the side of the step where the two of them were sitting. She leaned in and cuddled her and told her, 'Mom, I love someone! But he has gone away forever, and I don't know I would be able to see him or not!'. Anne said, 'My kiddo, I seriously don't know whether to be happy or to be sad for you!'. She sighed while gazing at her leaning on her in her arms. She traced her fingers gently through her hair and she wanted to comfort her. So, she said, 'I am glad that you love that someone but where has he gone? Is he reachable?'. She nodded in disagreement and then Anne took her by the shoulders and straighten him up.

She told her, 'Tell me where he lives, and I will bring him to you?'. Rosalie smiled tenderly at the sentiment her mother's words gave her and the comfort she received from them. She told her, 'John left for Italy and by now he might have settled there forever! It's been months now!'. Anne-Marie was glad that she opened up to her for the first time and she told her, 'Do not worry you must go to Italy!'. She looked at her inquisitively and said, 'Are you for serious?'. Anne replied, 'Do I look like I am joking to you about that!'. Rosalie gleamed with excitement that followed a dull smile and she uttered her concern, 'What if he found someone or he doesn't love me at all and it was all my illusion?'. 'Then it would be a fine trip for you and a lesson from life! Just take your chance deary and go for it!' she articulated.

Rosalie tried to say something, and Anne interrupted her, 'Suhs! Now, just start packing up! I do not want to listen to any other thoughts of yours! The more you will think the more you will get the excuses to stop by and never avail this chance!'. Rosalie was never so pleased as she was now determined to leave. 'Oh! Yeah, one thing why doesn't you take George and Angie with you!'. 'Why would you not come?' asked Rosalie. 'I think it would make up for the wrongs I have done! They were helpful to me even when I was not in their reach, far-off!' said Anne. 'What do you mean mom?' queried Rosalie.

She continued, 'I was about to get kidnapped, and my truck was hijacked! If it was not for George, I would not be able to make it back! He informed the officers there and they came to my rescue! He already told them about my arrival to the town! I have always been in the wrong and this opportunity as your rightful guardian in Italy will only be a tiny piece of gratitude, I can offer them!'. 'I am glad mom! That you are safe and secure all thanks to Uncle George! I am happy to have them and you!'. Rosalie didn't object at all to her request, and she notified Angie and George about their departure to Italy.

She decides to first tell Mrs. Holdcroft, Catherine's mother about her visit to Italy. She went to her home, and she was met with warm Favour. She inquired about where Johnathan lived in Italy. It was a big country that Rosalie was not acquainted to, but Mrs. Holdcroft was, and she told her everything about the beautiful city of Turin. Everything she ever needed to know. Of course, the purpose of the visit to her home that was to attain Johnathan's address was also accomplished. She was quite eager to give it to her because it was a happy moment for her as well, a hope for salvation from unhappiness. Rosalie and Angie prepared for the attire they required there, it was cold and hazy. They packed warm coats and while they were halfway through their journey. Their journey on the train, it was an exhaustingly long journey from Keswick to Turin. An approximately 18 hours long tour which they were quite memorable to three of them.

They were both excited and restless in their journey to their destination but in them mean time as Rosalie's mother advised her, they enjoyed and took photographs of all the places and stops the train stopped at. Angie and George slept through the journey, but Rosalie just could quite sleep, the restless lover's heart in her bosom beamed with eagerness. It was only after she felt bushed with the wakeful day, she spends in the train enjoying every second unapologetically, she passed out. And woke up to the sound of Angie waking her up to freshen a bit and had her breakfast. They reached Turin, the Paris of Italy, they hired a car to reach to the desired address that was in the heart of the city. Northern city of Italy welcomed her with the most unique architectures as they passed through them. She was just amazed to see the variety of churches, museums, buildings and palaces as the cab's driver just lost his track of the address and provided them a n unexpected mini tour of the city. She was so amazed to have experienced for the very first time the hidden gem as the people calls it of Italy. She was in love with the person born here and now she was in love with every nook and corner of his city.
