Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Yes, in that manner she is guilty, and she led to it but not naturally. It was both decided and undecided. You must know that and if you want to confirm you can ask the maid that remained beside you. She protected you, your paternal grandma on many instances cautioned your mother and was deeply concerned about you. Your mother even saved you on many instances from your father who always desired a son. You must think I am making all this up but by now you can ask it from anyone close to you. Your mother would never confirm them as she wants you to remember him as a good person. But you, yourself have some of your teen memories of him.'

Rosalie recalled that night when his father deliberately threw a vase, and her head was badly injured. 'Although he was drunk but the father who loves their children do not do that' she believed. She was in no doubt but didn't want to take a chance and decided to confirm all these from the maid. She continued reading the diary. 'Your mother is guilty of just bringing that event closer. She knew where he was going to die, and she was aware what he was going to wear and what time it will be! So, she made sure she was accurate and on her third attempt when she inaugurated her boutique, she took her husband and made sure he wore the same dress, and the time and place were right. At that party, he was quite drunk, and she guided him outside the boutique in the middle road where a speedy loader hid him out of nowhere. She was extremely devastated at his death, he got thrown away at a street pole that opened his head.

She was guilty of trying to save you from that drunken monster who abused her and tried to kill you every chance he got. He insulted your mother by forcing her to accompany her to gambling guilds where he could use her second sight which worked even though she didn't believe in it. She was devastated on telling him her secret and he robbed her of her life force. She suffered when he was alive, and she suffered in his death as well. She turned herself in and told the officers everything, but they let her off. Why because they thought it was her guilty and kind soul that forced her to confess to such things. They let her off, all the town was aware of his abuse and their story. If you think your mother is guilty, then yes, she is. And you know what she is guilty of, protecting you from him and nothing else. So, be grateful that you have a loving mother like that. I do not want you to make her upset. She is an idiot for letting your love for your father alive in your heart. She is a hopeless non-drifter like other commoners. I would not continue to talk about your mother because this is all I had to say.

Now if I can again continue about how the garden helped me and saved me. My husband noticed a gap in the garden's plant that only appears when there is a need for it. Andrew was also afraid that he may lose me that year, he went there and sat down in the garden that evening. Now it had enclosed glass roof, believe me it was expensive, but we made the architecture realize it anyway. It was dreamy and fairy-tale like, magical. He was saddened and his heart busted with the fear of loss. His eyes began to ooze tears and he slept on the bench in the Scarlet Garden. He saw a dream where he planted a new rose plant, but he wished for my good health, and I recovered instantly.

He woke up in the morning with the chirping sound of the birds nearby. He was surprised as he thought he had such a dream because he was anxious but living with me all those years taught him to believe in such dreams. So, he attempted the same action as the dream guided him to and it actually paid off. Miraculously I felt better, I used to remain lethargic in bed for three months and by the end of the first month, that was exactly the day he planted that rose plant with the wish, I got up well and energetic. He was amazed and he didn't tell me about it. I noticed that he started taking care of the Scarlet Garden, the name he picked for it, now more than before.

I inquired about it from him many times that why do you do that. I can or anybody else can do it, you will exhaust yourself. To which he said, 'Some secrets are meant to remain conceal!' And it was his secret, and I didn't force him to spill it out. I was curious but I didn't irritate him for that. He told me about it, in the year before his death. He desired for me not to look for the gap, but it was hard for me. It didn't appear and you used to ask me to stay and that made it easy to work on making a gap, but the garden didn't allow. It interfered when it had to and didn't when it could not. I loved him and I miss him even now. So, that is all my love. I have left my notes for you if you want to continue learning about our ways. You will always be so special to me my beloved. Keep your head high up and always look at the brightest star that is me blessing you from wherever I am on this earth.'

There her granny's diary finished, and she was quite glad that she read it. She was not upset with her mother anymore, but she needs to confirm her doubts. If her granny was right, she should ask the maid. She would know whether her father tried to kill her or not? She needed to know that. The fortnight she spends alone gave her lots of time to process about what his father did and how fatal was it to both of them. She talked to the maid about her concern regarding the fact that her father tried to kill her. The maid hesitated at first, but she was the one who confirmed the facts being both a witness and a victim to his heinous attempts at abuse. He tossed at her items that got her injured severely quite often on hiding Rosalie somewhere safe when Anne-Marie was not in the house. She was the witness of Anne's troubles and shared her difficulties like her own sister. Anne always treated her fairly but years following his death Anne turned cold to her as she desires Rosalie to remember her father with love. The maid suggested otherwise for her, but Rosalie was Anne's daughter, so naturally she had no say in that matter. But still Anne remains bitter to her who didn't leave her side even with Anne-Marie's unrequited rage. Anne-Marie turned spiteful and also led to deliberate aloofness between George and her, which Rosalie had no idea about. Rosalie hugged her and was grateful to her. Now she knew that she had an aunt then a maid. The hidden guardian angel that protected her all those years. She was glad that her granny was right, but she needed to confront her mother too because she was not brave enough to open up to her. She was always conflicted about whether she loved his father or not. He was gone but she recalled the abuse to her mother only because she never mentioned it never meant that it didn't actually happen to Rosalie. The town was aware of that, but they never mentioned it. The town changed for them and accepted Anne-Marie and Rosalie as their own in the town.

Rosalie didn't check on her granny's diary about George and her aunts love that developed after his wife passed away. It was due to Anne-Marie who just used to send her off to take care of George at his house. She worked there and kept the place in a good order. George offered her a room to stay when it got late but Anne didn't bother until she became aware of his interest in her. She asked George to send her back to which she willingly came but she was not aware of Anne's malice. She kept her busy in her home and George once again was alone and kept himself busy in his work at the restaurant. Anne sends her off to remote places to assist her many acquaintances and she was humble enough to follow that. She was gone out of town for a very long time and returned only when Anne called her back as Rosalie was going to be alone.
