That was when it hit Lloyd, "The entire time we've been running around looking for the wrong thing," Lloyd proclaimed as the others look confused "We know that the Alphas wouldn't just throw us in here without knowing the distance right? As far as we know there's a checkpoint and that's what we really need to look for."
As the group started to understand what Lloyd was saying it began to be clear that they needed to change their path. As they began to run again but this time they were looking for clues, riddles anything that may lead them to this checkpoint. Lloyd was scanning each area from the bright green forest trees that scattered across the path, the oddly shaped rocks from the smallest pebble to the biggest boulder, to even the bright blue sky with clouds scattered across the scene. Until Jessica shouted "I found something!" The group stopped as Jessica walked over to a giant boulder that was died center in their path, Lloyd noticed exactly what Jessica found.
"Look at this! It's the old Altima language that Aaron used to communicate with the other wolves, we've almost lost this language if it wasn't for the number of Altima's who translated and gave us an actual –"
"Way to translate it yourself, Aaron called it Wolfish but my grandfather tried getting it changed but it never caught on." Lloyd cut Jessica off finishing her analogy with his own knowledge
"So we can interpret what it says the Alphas were testing us, glad we took that language class all those years ago." John awkwardly laughed as he looked at the others. As Lloyd read out the message it stated,
Heading in the wrong direction the truth is what is the counter to one's thought can the wolves of youth discover this case or continue on the path of wrong
As the group looked at each other Westen was the first to speak "I got it! We're heading to the wrong location we're not supposed to head towards the Sun's library but the Moon's hence why the starting line is in the Crest's territory because the Moons and Crests always get along besides each library contains the history of all 4 clans regardless so why specifically head towards the Suns'."
"Wait he's right knowing that the Suns don't care must for fancy things the library itself it's organized so it'd take days for a single wolf to find the book containing their history so it'd make more sense to send us on a goose chase until we figured out the truth!" Jess proclaimed as Lloyd nodded in agreement.
As the group stood waiting for Jess to use her ability to find the library in the Moon's territory, as she eventually found it she was also exhausted unable to lead them exactly to it as before, but knowing that Lloyd and Westen were with them John believed that they could make it.
"Sorry I couldn't help us get further." Jess moped feeling disappointed in herself
"Don't worry about it, we don't expect you to be extremely powerful, if anything showing your limits and accepting them is what makes you more than qualified to be Alpha." Westen cheerfully said as Jess began to smile at his words, there was a Checkpoint at the door, he stopped as Peter walked out of the library and smiled,
"Well I was right, you Alphas are the first ones here… As you saw this is a checkpoint your goal is to go inside and look for the history of the Sun clan, once you find the information you need come back to me at the starting line which is now the Finish Line, I will give you some advice the 3rd challenge is one of survival, you're the first arrive and others will try to steal the information from you so watch out, now then I'll be off." Peter shouted as he ran off.
Lloyd began to think as the others headed inside, after a few minutes Diana did her thing and found what they were looking for "Found it!" She proclaimed as everyone gathered around her, the book was titled "Sun Clan History"
Lloyd chuckled at the title "Couldn't think of anything creative for the history of the clan, just another day with the Suns." John nodded Lloyd jokingly knowing full well his clan doesn't care about fancy things unless it has to do with military power, Diana read through the book, with Lloyd reading it alongside her. Diana shut the book and put it back in its respective spot, before looking at the others "Alright we have what we need now comes challenge 3 Survival, any ideas on what we can do?" Diana asked as Lloyd began to speak "Well if we do exactly what we did getting here, I'm referring to after Harald's group. Allowing me to cause a sonic boom could help us in the long run. The question is, can I go top speed?"
After hearing this all the Alphas came to the agreement to let Lloyd go at his top speed, they headed out of the library and got back in their positions, Lloyd gripped John and Westen's legs and blasted forward towards the starting line, Jessica is a huge help, she had rested up and could use her ability to Lloyd let him know when to turn and dodge houses and other things that might dock their time. A few minutes passed as Lloyd eventually saw the Finish Line and picked up his pace, in seconds they had crossed the line and looked around as Peter walked over to them,
"Well done Alphas seems like you are the first ones here, and with a time of 6 days 8 hours and 45 minutes, surprisingly well as it's better than most average wolves but I didn't expect any less."
"6 days?! Did we destroy something there's no way we were that slow." John questioned as Lloyd grabbed his shoulder "John buddy I'm going to be real, we were definitely fast but thanks to our run-in we were slowed down extremely. You didn't experience the passing of night to day because of me, so be grateful for the fact we're better than average."
The group sat down waiting for more of the others to arrive days passed as not many were arriving every so often Lloyd believed that there was a group coming, but alas it was just his imagination. After about 7 days of waiting it became clear that the other wolves were so smart as an entire hall of wolves were being led back by a Crest wolf who could teleport as they sat down around the stage, Peter spoke,
"My my… it would seem many of you couldn't figure out a simple puzzle don't worry though as the next event can either help you or eliminate you from this competition. This first event was one that was 3 challenges in one, you may have already guessed them by now so you might want to pay close attention to the next few events for they may be built in a similar matter. Moving on to the 2nd event, this will be connected to the 1st as this is a test of your knowledge, so a physical test then a mental test sounds fun right, I'll have Lois Flare explain this next event."
Lois walked up to the stage and began to speak, " This next event will be giving out points based on your performance from the 1st event and the questions later to come, in first place with the most points for not only finishing the 1st event but also arriving before the average wolf would have Team Alphas will be given 50 points. Each question ranges from the worth of 1 point to the worth of 50. Please pay attention to every question that you answer correctly you will be given another until you answer incorrectly when we reach the final round points are tripled, so this will be anyone's game."
