As Lloyd looked around he knew all too well that his team had the edge, but he was also troubled by their own weaknesses. Jessica has been overdoing herself these last few days and Diana may be one of the smartest among them, she lacked the speed compared to the others. Lloyd knew they would rely on Westen and him, he was troubled because he was carrying them in the 1st event but wanted their entire team to shine, after all this was the generation of defiance and who better to show that than the upcoming leaders of the wolves. Thoughts filled his head as Lois began to question the new generation,
"Who are the current leaders of the clans?"
Jess was quick to raise her hand, but she was a second too late as her brother James had his hand up first at least to Lois' perspective
"Lois, Peter, John, Walter and Black Sun." He answered looking like some rich kid all smug and annoying
"That is incorrect, Ms. Jess due to you being the next hand. Who are the current leaders of the clans?" Lois asked once more looking in Jessica's direction
"Lois Flare, Peter Crest, Johnthan Sun, Walter Moon and Phoenix the temporary Altima." She answered looking straight disregard about those around her
"That is correct, Team Alphas have earned 5 points. I will clarify that if someone answers wrong the person that answers correctly will be given half the original points unless they're less than 5. This question is obviously worth 10 however Jessica only earned half. Remember this as it is important to notice the value."
Lois began asking Jess question after question before she eventually got it wrong, Lloyd was surprised by her energy and ability to answer quickly but that is what the Crests are known for, to be geniuses in the field of knowledge. The question that she was asked to was indeed difficult even Lloyd had to think about it,
"Ms. Jess, who was the original mother of the wolves outside of Diamond herself?" Lois had asked
"We only know about Diamond herself and there's no official source that Aaron had any other wives." Jess proclaimed
"That is incorrect, anyone else?"
It had been 20 minutes since she had asked that question and Lloyd had to think about the question itself, he thought back to the last 3 challenges,
"The first challenge was based around our knowledge on the Suns, the second challenge was based on our speed, the final challenge was based around our ability to survive with what we had that means… we're looking at this all wrong!"
"Guys! We're thinking about this all wrong, think about the first 3 challenges, they were based around the opposite of the clan's own history. The Suns are the military power of Wolftopia, we needed our knowledge, to be different from the average. That's directly the Crests and Moons what's the one clan missing?" He questioned as the others listened before Diana spoke up
"The Flares! We need to think from the perspective of technology! That's why the first few points have been easy because they're throwing out trick questions."
"Exactly."
As the group was talking about specific things, Lois began asking different questions that were easy, Lloyd knew all too well this was a trap. He told the others not to answer, 3 hours past and soon James' team was 20 points behind Jessica's which meant it was their time to shine, but as Diana raised her hand a bell went off,
"And that's it for tonight young ones, but don't worry this is Day 1 of many, this event will be longer than the first trust me on that. I will point out it's better to space out from one another for what's to come." Lois stated as she walked off the stage. Lloyd was confused as it was only 10 pm, most wolves are built to be awake for hours especially at night that's where they thrived. The first night passed pretty quickly and next came the questions bright and early as the sun barely had risen. This process continued for the next 4 days, Lloyd looked around and noticed that with each passing day groups began to fall asleep quicker than the day before, unlike most he didn't need to sleep so he was the trump card it seemed until he noticed something on Day 3, a group of older wolves walked around just watching closely at specific groups before those groups disappeared in a flash of light, Lloyd spent Day 4 watching those wolves paying attention to see what was going on with them exactly, with each passing hour Lloyd began to get a jest on what they were doing or had a theory at least,
"It seems that their entire job is to find the current group in last place and cause them to disappear, but that's not the complete job, just an illusion. It would seem like as the questions continue to get harder the Crests are thriving in their home field, but after that flash of light they're gone causing the group to rely on someone else or completely give up. That's when they strike again causing the entire group to disappear but where would they go?" Lloyd questioned as he thought back to the schedule that had been set,
1. Wake Up ( 6:00 am)
2. Questions start flying ( 6:30 am)
3. A quick break (2:30 pm)
4. Recap of who's in the lead and the other standings ( 3:00 pm)
5. Questions are asked again ( 3:30 pm)
6. Told time is up and to rest (10:00 pm)
He wrote this on a piece of paper that had been given to him on Day 4 with the instructions to use it anyway they could, the others noticed and John read the schedule back a few times before speaking up,
"This isn't just about trivia but also our willpower, notice how we have no time to eat, this is an average schedule given to the soldiers who patrol… but there has to be something I'm missing after all if we're going based on opposites, what is the opposite of knowledge?"
"We already know! Remember we have to think from the perspective of technology which is why all the other groups are answering the questions wrong or halfway because they don't know." Jess answered as Lloyd nodded his head
"Which would explain why the Crests are the target of the Vultures because they're getting rid of the thriving wolves to see where everyone else can rank." Lloyd stated as the others looked at him in confusion
"Vultures? What are you talking about?" Westen questioned his own twin brother
"It's the name I gave those suspicious looking wolves walking around, they attack the bottom team to 'eliminate' the Crests on said team if there aren't any the team is still attacked but in that case the Flare is taken, they're purposely giving us hints as to the challenges."
