Kind had thought it wise to give Cherry and Wale their own privacy. He had promised himself to never get between their affairs again. He was relieved Cherry had agreed to move back in with Wale, hopefully after this trip, he wasn't planning to see them afterwards. He just wanted to return to Todo. He couldn't imagine why his boyfriend had agreed for him to come here despite knowing his feelings towards Wale. Todo obviously felt threatened by Wale however, before their departure here, he'd assured him his loyalty.
By the time Kind returned to the villa, it was already dark. Cherry and him had arrived here in the evening, they hadn't had lunch yet. Though he didn't have much of an appetite, he never want to sleep without dinner too. He found a desolate Wale sitting alone. Kind had many things to ask him but didn't want to be bothered by him. He hated that after some time of not seeing him, he still made him shiver with longing. "Where is the kitchen? I'm famished."
Wale had been deep in thought he barely noticed Kind's presence. Pointing at the dining area, he informed Kind the food had been ready for sometime and that Cherry and him had had their share already. "It has been a long day and I feel unable to welcome you properly so forgive me if I can't keep you company while you dine since I have to retire early." Wale said and walked away heading upstairs. Kind watched him wondering what had gotten the nonchalant Wale aloof all of a sudden. This was a rare face Wale had wore. He always smiled even when in great pain so something must have happened between him and Cherry. Brushing his thoughts away, he happily enjoyed his meal, thankful that Wale was a great cook.
Finally it was time to sleep. Wale had forgotten to show him where he'd sleep so Kind figured he'd take any room upstairs, after all, the villa looked like it had about five doors up there. He could hear Cherry's voice in one of the rooms and figured Wale must be inside with her. Walking to the furthest room, he thought to himself he didn't want to hear them in the middle of the night mourning with pleasure without a care that he was here. He reached for the knob and turned it. The door was open and he got inside, surprised to find the lights on. The room was quite tiny but he didn't care. All he wanted was a bed to lay his head. Within minutes, he was fast asleep.
He awoke in the middle of night sweating all over. Thank goodness it had been a nightmare. In his dream, Wale was found drowned in the ocean and he had been called to identify him but had refused. After that, he'd see Wale everywhere. Todo would be speaking to him and suddenly he'd see Wale. He'd be shaving his beard looking at the mirror , then Wale would appear behind him in a flash. At one time, he was eating his food then saw Wale's face on the plate. Wale was haunting him everywhere and that scared him. It suddenly hit him he had left the lights on before going to bed. "What a strange dream," he mumbled and went back to sleep without switching off the lights.
He woke up to the sound of a car horn, he almost thought he was back to his home, his sanctuary. Looking at the sun rays entering his room through the opened curtain, he smiled at the thought of how fatigued he had been. He'd slept very well after the nightmare and as he stretched his arms to relax his muscles, he remembered he'd not taken a shower before bed. "Better find Wale before the car leaves," he mumbled as he got out of bed.
The villa was quiet enough to hear the sound of birds chirping outside. It felt great and he was tempted to enjoy his stay much longer but figured the car outside was probably for him to leave this place before Cherry. After all, he was to stay here for a day and despite not knowing his purpose for coming here, he didn't care to stay longer. Kind spotted Wale walking and started taking the stairs. "Good morning K. I hope you had a lovely night?" Wale's smile was back though he seemed tired from the dark circles and eye bags under his eyes. Kind acknowledged his greeting then asked after the bathroom. "Sorry I forgot to show you your room yesterday. The last room where you slept is for the help and the bathroom is right next to it. All the other three rooms have bathrooms in them so you may use the second room," Wale replied as he took the stairs then pointed at the room Kind was to take. "I had your pajamas ready and everything else, its such a waste you didn't sleep there though. I didn't want to wake you in the night since you were sleeping so soundly."
Kind took a few steps back to keep his distance from Wale then thanked him and got into his presumed room. After an enjoyable shower, he felt refreshed. Additionally, Wale had prepared a change of clothes for him too. He always paid attention to the smallest of details. When he got back downstairs, he asked Wale about the car he had heard outside. "Oh, I was hoping hadn't heard that. That was Cherry leaving. She said she didn't want to be here any longer...that it was too hot." Kind was still digesting what Wale had just said before he asked him, "Did you also know that Cherry is pregnant?"
Wale had been busy making a sandwich in the kitchen, his back turned to Kind. He seemed not to care whether Kind responded to his question or not. Once he was done, he took off his apron then prepared the table for them both. They ate in silence, none of them willing to break it first. Kind watched Wale closely. He seemed absentminded and the dark circles under his eyes worried him a little, not to mention the visible eye bags. "When is the guy coming back? I need to leave too." Wale told him casually that he'll have to wait until next morning since the driver only came once a day.
Standing up from his seat, he asked Wale, "Was this your doing? To keep me here?" Wale put a hand under his chin as he munched on before replying. "I missed you a lot K. I really did." Taking another bite, he glanced back at Kind. Wale couldn't tell weather Kind was angry or not. He looked like he wanted to say something but chose not to. "I was hurt it had taken you guys two weeks to notice my absence, especially you K. I always thought you'd be the first to notice. Maybe I was wrong about you all this time."
"Why are you doing this? Staying in hiding and looking all depressed. Don't you even care about Cherry and how this makes her feel? I thought you were hellbent on winning her back." Wale took another mouthful bite of his sandwich. "This is yummy. I love how the lettuce blends with the tomatoes I put in here." Wale calmly said and went on to finish his sandwich . Upon seeing that Wale was unwilling to cooperate, Kind sat back down to finish his too. Once they were both done, Wale finally answered him. " Do not fret over Cherry and I. We broke up." Kind couldn't hide the shock that was written all over his face. "Knowing her, I'm sure she told you she is pregnant even though you won't admit the knowledge of it but don't worry, I'll take care of my child, and her too if she will allow me."
"Why?" was all Kind could manage to say. He wasn't sure which of Wale's statements he had directed his question to. "Kind, I'm in love with someone else. I should have realized from long ago but I was too blind to notice." Laughing out loud, Wale continued, "I guess when you call me dummy is for this reason. This person has been right infront of me and it took me all these years to finally put a name to how I feel about them. At first, I thought it was absurd that I found them attractive, then I touched them a couple of times and got an erection." Wale glanced at Kind, it was funny seeing him trying to control his temper but Wale knew if he reached for Kind's hands that had been clenched into fists on top of the table, he'd knock him out in one punch seeing that he'd managed to build back his lost muscles.
Leaning back to keep his distance from Kind he continued, "I came here to clear my thoughts. I was greatly confused knowing if I confessed my feelings to this person they'd probably accept me and that would put Cherry and I at a disadvantage but I guess it can't be helped. The heart wants what it wants so here I am asking for your advice, what should I do K?"
"Is this why you asked for me? To tell me about you cheating on Cherry you idiot! I know we are friends but sometimes you really piss me off! How can you ask such a thing knowing that Cherry is pregnant and while we are on the subject, haven't you already done what you want? You broke up with Cherry you fool so what do you need my advice for?" Kind was furious, he badly wanted to punch Wale in the face but his pathetic face and the tear under his nose made him control himself. "How do you even know if what you feel for that other person isn't a passing moment? You've been with Cherry long enough to get engaged to her! Oh and might I add she is also pregnant with your child! With your child you dummy!"
"I'm convinced I love this person a lot K. You have no idea how many times I jerked off from looking at their picture while I've been in hiding. What other proof do I need?" Kind stood up, he couldn't take anymore of listening to Wale talk. "I'm going to the beach. Please call the driver back, I can't stand the sight of you."
Wale didn't want Kind to leave, he wanted him to stay, to look at him, listen to his voice even if he was mad at him. He had missed him a lot. It had been so long since they had been alone like this. "Haven't you ever felt that way about someone before K? Nervous when they get close to you, anxious when you can't see them, happy when they talk to you? Jealous when they look at someone else? What if you can't stop dreaming about them? Your hands trailing their naked body, caressing them, kissing their lips, joining their body to yours, mourning, panting, pulling them close, holding them tight so they wouldn't escape." Wale's words stopped Kind midway but he didn't turn back when he replied. "If sex is a problem between you and Cherry then you should understand she is pregnant and her body is changing and will continue to do so but here you are, panting after another woman."
Finally, Wale stood up and walked to face Kind. He knew this would not be a good time to make fun of how cute he looked when upset. Frank had been right to call him bunny. "I'm serious K, I'm in love with this person and I'm convinced they feel the same way even though they are in a relationship with someone else." Kind threw a punch but stopped midway. "Damn you! I wasted my life coming here." Pushing Wale out of his way, he was about to storm out when Wale grabbed his hand to stop him. "Then let's share a drink please. I really need one to cool off and you look like you could use one to."
Kind looked back at Wale. He thought how pathetic he looked pleading with a scarred face. Additionally, Wale wasn't smiling as he normally did. He seemed to have had it it rough the previous day with Cherry breaking the news of her pregnancy and what not. It might be scary being suddenly told you're going to be a father. Oh well, what's the harm in a few drinks. He could use a drink too after the rough week he'd given them looking for him. He pulled his hand away and said, "I don't want to wake up naked you bastard! I don't care how clean you want your sheets to be and if I pee on my pants, let me be you dummy. "
Wale smiled. He'd actually thought Kind would turn down his invitation. " I wouldn't do anything you wouldn't K." Kind returned his smile saying, "This time, if I drink seven bottles, you must equally have the same amount, I'll be watching you like a hawk."
