Chapter 16 - Sir Philip had broken bones?

He was dressed in a ragged top and loose long pants that no one will ever know if he was wearing any shoes at all. By the wound marks on his wrist, Sir Philip knew he is a freed prisoner from Xuediv.

This is not the first time he saw someone from Xuediv. When he was still assigned from Dorfritsh Town, further away from the palace but closer to the borders of Takèif and Xuediv, there is not a day he wasn't able to catch one prisoner at the least.

But this time, this is not the kind of behavior he has always seen from them.

To Sir Philip, the person being less hyperactive and rather calm is suspicious to him.

He is up to no good, he thought.

So he gets down from his horse and tied it to a tree a little further from the town and followed the prisoner.

What Sir Philip thought was right. This man is indeed from Xuediv, but he is not the kind of man Sir Philip knew of.

He is not a prisoner but rather some espionage (spy) lurking around dressed as a freed prisoner trying to gather whatever they know that is going on in Acairè.

And indeed before the sun rises, with Sir Philip's stealth as he can be witnessed how this man delivered a word to another man just by the border.

It is a message to the King Council Ackgu that in the land of Acairè, a barricade plan has been ruled.

To these espionages, it's a signal to begin something that they have always been planning to do.

Xuediv's borders are just directly next to Takèif and before reaching the border is an open grass field. It is only impossible for Sir Philip to cross the field without him getting noticed.

So there he only stayed by the shadows of the trees way far from them.

Before reporting to the Queen he decided to hang around for quite some time to figure out what these people are up to.

The same espionage he saw was anxious was there behind a tree frequently roaming his eyes around like he is impatiently waiting for something.

A little later Sir Philip noticed a tree being shaken. A man just climbed up to get a better view of the incoming mass of people and then the anxious espionage is now nowhere to be found.

Where could have he gone?

When he realized what he was doing, he looked further on his left side and there revealed to him the mass of people these espionages have been waiting for.

There he saw the laborers each carrying stones in a wooden basket hanging on their backs, which he is not expecting to come.

He wrinkled his brows trying to make sense of how these people are here when he thought Ryvna did the job of withdrawing the orders.

It is bold of the knight to assume a single knight such as Ryvna can get to everybody in time.

Then he remembered, that Von has yet to know the Queen halted the plan.

He looked over to the border of Xuediv and still saw the man on top of the tree focusing his eyes on these people.

Although he could not comprehend what these people are up to - are they just spying or are they really up to no good, he decided to retreat and tell the laborers about the halted order of the Queen.

If only he could cross the field to the left (towards the mass of people) he couldn't, not only that there is a steep hill in between, but his presence will also be compromised if he reveals himself passing through the field, that is not what Sir Philip wanted to do.

So he went back his way, to the river and then walked by a lake. Half an hour later he finally reached the open field and was surprised by how much work has been already done.

So he half run and shouted.

"Stop the buil..." he couldn't even finish what he was about to say when he saw a big block of an object he couldn't reckon what is flying in the sky at an angle and hit the progressed walls like a catapult.

A blast of debris hit him hard and dragged him back to the woods.

He groans squeezing his eyes in the stinging pain in his rib. He could feel how the debris has broken a few bones.

His face and body are wounded by the shattered stones and coughed his way getting back up as he inhales an amount of smoke and dust.

He could even feel the heat penetrating his body. He couldn't hear anything but the ringing in his ears. The immense pain made his legs wobble as he fell back to the ground.

Sir Philip stumbled a few more times and still forced himself to regain his stance every single time thinking he needed to check everyone's safety - and of course, the espionages too who have caused this disarray.

The blast hit hard. Especially to the laborers who were near. Some were impacted by chunks of debris rupturing their body.

Some were burned directly to death and into ashes while some are immensely injured.

This has been by far the most disastrous thing that has ever happened in Shaoghal.

Who would've thought that the jealousy of the brothers has reached the point of death of hundreds of people in Acairè? Nobody can truly anticipate such a thing aside from the enemy of Acairè.

A few laborers who were on their way carrying stones rushed to the open field and saw the devastating state of the laborers.

They didn't even know what to do, their mind went blank as they stood froze not expecting such a tragedy to happen.
