Chapter 17 - Army of Takèif

Sir Philip saw how these laborers are not doing anything so even in a drowsy state he pushed through the people to try and get them back to their senses.

"What are you still doing here?" He said in a weak loud voice.

"Help them!" he added so sternly.

Few were hesitant and a few run away.

"Don't worry, we are not fighting them back, they can't fire us again." He held his head fighting the pain all over his body. Although he is unsure there will be no second strike.

"Carry the injured first and bring them to Dorfritsh Town, leave the dead. Now! before the Queen arrives. Bring them to their families if you could." He said and left them as he went straight ahead to the thick smoke.

He knew the Queen might come. He also knew how the sight to see in here could agitate her.

This is a mass murder. How can the mother of this land ever mourn and fight at the same time? After all, no matter how strong she thinks she's capable of, she is still young to bear such horrendous terror and a terrible number of lives lost.

He walk passed the injured where some ask for his help and he didn't even bother to look at the dreadful bodies of the dead.

He couldn't stop for them. He felt he needs to chase that espionage.

He is in tremendous pain but didn't care.

The knight failed to see how being dead is of no use to the queen.

He used the smoke to hide as he pushed his way to Xuediv. Sir Philip felt the need to get to the bottom of this.

The borders between the three kingdoms are just a bunch of trees lining in. So there without that espionage noticing, he went in into their territory.

When the dust and smoke has finally settled a little more than a while ago - still could hurt the eyes, Ryvna and Von entered Takèif discreetly.

The Queen has placed herself and some of the warriors in a shade waiting for Ryvna and Von to come back.

The two volunteered to clear the ways getting into Takèif and make sure there are no traps or any threats when the Queen marches her way inside.

"You should've brought your bow Ryv," Von said still trying not to make any rustle in his boots.

Ryvna diverted her eyes to Von thinking this knight does not want her here.

"Why, 'coz you wanna be a hero?" she said rolling her eyes as she runs ahead stealthy towards an obelisk.

A few meters afar is the first town of Takèif. There they saw how quiet this place seems to be.

Like people have already deserted this place. Of course, they have planned it very well that they evacuated the people first before shattering the walls.

They freely run to the walls of the town and peeked inside.

And indeed, like a deaf man, the place is noiseless.

"That would be perfect Ryv, but..." Von paused a bit and roamed his eyes continuing his inspection.

"...you know what's even better than perfect? - a team with a varied weapon, yes?" He said as he attempted to deny the fact from what Ryvna has already sensed, he intended to get her to long range.

"Really now?... seems to me that wasn't the case at all," she responded as they stood together back to back when they heard a movement from somewhere they can't seem to know.

"Well, yes." To Sir Von, not minding he was hurting her feelings, he just didn't want her to be first in line - an extremely dangerous position.

Seconds later, the movement they sensed was just a deer lurking in the shrubs. They relaxed for a bit and continued walking to the second town.

The second town is twice as further as they already walked and it's a long way. It's a grassy journey because they tried to stay away from the road.

Meanwhile, Queen Vana was already marching her way alongside Dreeyan and the warriors just as they planned earlier, that 30 minutes after Ryvna and Von are inside, they will proceed.

Before the two knights even reached the second town, they hid themselves crouching on the high grass.

They just saw a rally of men each on their horses in full battle armor.

It was the King Council of Takèif, King Vardyr, and his men mobilizing their way toward their border.

Sir Von waved his two fingers towards him signaling Ryvna to slowly crawl their way back.

"We have to tell Queen Vana." Sir Von whispered and is very alarmed by the army they saw. This is not good, they thought to themselves.

And they did so and went back by making an effort to be as invisible as they could.

When they are already back and the parade has already advanced, they rush to report to the Queen.

When they were nearing back they saw that the Queen has already managed to get into Takèif.

They run towards her and out of breath Sir Von told her what they had just seen.

"I can see that." With raging eyes, there the Queen saw the parade that Von was talking about.
