Chapter 20 - "Nah, he's sturdy"

With blurring eyes Ryvna looked at Von and said,

"Carry him," as she tore her skirt to bandage his wounded body.

Taken aback, Von is on the onset of cursing. This man is huge, come on!

"Lady, you are showing me too much skin," he whispered to himself as he saw what Ryvna just did.

"Just carry him." unbothered by him, she continued to wrap his chest with her cloth.

"Ryv, we already have years to walk, it'll take us centuries to reach the queen." He said dodging the fact that he might just die carrying this bulky guy.

"We can't just leave him!" She exclaimed not taking a no for an answer.

The Queen being away with her first knights is already dreadful to her, she felt she's failing her queen when she has yet to bring her trust back. Ryvna remembering Queen Vana talking about giving her consequences agonizes her more.

Seeing Ryvna close to breaking down he sighed, reached for Sir Philip's arms, and position him to where he can finally carry him in his back.

A few minutes of barely walking— Von trembling at the amount of weight, breaks the silence. "He won't die... broken bones yes, but dying? Nah, he's sturdy." He said as he assured her and proceeded their way.

"He should be." although worried by Sir Philip, she's more troubled about her queen. She thought that she'd be with her protecting her if she had a horse.

However, if she didn't walk trying to find a horse, she wouldn't find Sir Philip.

"Right so don't show me your tears," he answered mischievously trying to loosen up her tension. I mean if we are dying later, it's good to have a nice talk with each other.

"I did not cry Von." she denied and rolled her eyes at him.

"Yeah, you wish." He said chuckling at Ryvna's hard-to-believe response.

Sir Von is a knight who's a mystery to many but not to the people who suffered with him during training. He tends to be more expressive with the people he spent more time with.

It's easier then, to be talking to Ryvna jokingly given they are in a situation difficult to fix, just to make her feel better.

"Put me down." A deep hoarse voice made the two jump on their feet, except Von, he is carrying a load of muscles.

"Ah, Philip! Glad to see you back in your senses." Von lets go of his grip and straighten his back throwing Sir Philip away from him.

He stretches his back as he felt quite a burden freed from him.

Sir Philip after getting his consciousness back, leans his hand on the tree beside him. He held his wound and flinch in wrenching pain.

"Oh! My bad." Von said worried realizing throwing him wasn't a good idea.

Ryvna pressed her temple trying to suppress her worry about Sir Philip. She doesn't want to make it seem overly dramatic.

"You should stay here, me and Sir Von will go after the queen." She said trying to fix the cloth he belted on his chest.

"You didn't want to leave him awhile ago, now you want to leave him?" Von questioningly uttered with the intention to be silly.

"He was unconscious Von, what are you talking about." If only she could smash his mouth right now, she would've.

This guy really annoys him sometimes — a lot of the time!

Von tilted his head from side to side gesturing he is accepting her excuse for today, Ryvna just shakes her head.

"What are you still doing here, we should go." Sir Philip interrupted their bickering and did a half run forwards.

"We will not make it anyways, just stay here," Ryvna said softly hardly heard by Philip but heard clearly by Von.

"Ryv wants you, Philip...I mean she wants to stay." Ryvna smacked his head finally.

She looked at him like 'say that again one more time, and it'll be the end of you'.

Von just chuckled and run faster at the pace of Sir Philip leaving Ryvna behind.

They reached Dorfritsh Town which is now in a state of ashes. This fast?!

They couldn't believe what they saw. A literal jaw-dropping situation. Who knew such tiny kingdoms can create a massive disaster for Acairè? No one ever knew.

Just across the town is a horse running about never knowing what and where to go.

Sir Philip right away chased the horse stealthily and with great success, he was able to tame and ride on it. He went closer to the two other knights.

"Find yourself a horse, I'll head first, we can't let the Queen go on about without a knight." He said and left Von and Ryvna frozen still.

"We couldn't even leave him, now he's leaving us," Von said staring blankly.

"The Queen is our priority Von, what are you talking about." She said convincing herself everything is all good. "He's not wrong."

Speechless Von that is, they then proceeded their way towards a decade of walk to the kingdom.

A few warriors rescuing survivors stumbled upon the way of Sir Philip in finding the queen.

"Bring horses eastside right away! You'll meet the knights," he said and fled their presence despite seeing the bloodshed bodies.

Sir Philip just needs to find the Queen.

He confidently knows where. The only place not on fire is the palace clearly seen in the mountain by the Elteshelle river. Something is definitely going on there.

Rushing on the woods and passing the Elteshelle river was easy until he saw how the palace is covered with warriors he presumed comes from Xuediv and Takèif. There's definitely going on in there — he is not loving every second thinking how he doesn't have his eyes on the Queen yet. She should be there.

He decided to get down and tied the horse to the railing of the bridge. Without a trace, he trailed to the woods encircling the palace and just as he figured, the back tunnel isn't guarded.

Sir Philip then right away made a run to search for the Queen through the narrow tunnel then up towards the stairs and into a barrel room.

He took a torch and went out of the room. He looked around and everything seems too quiet for him.

He managed to grab armor at an armory just at the second level from the tunnel.

He was stealthy, and he was quiet, but for some reason, an unfamiliar, gentle, and eerie voice called for him.

"Over here..."

He flinched.

"She's over here..." the voice fades as it whispers in his ears.

"I'm over here..."
