"But do not be mistaken, you are still able to die if you are not careful." Mikoto said as he helped Rika up. "I am going to act as the bait, I hope you can finish it off this time." Mikoto said as Rika was given such a heavy task. But she also knew that if she did not agree, she would be stuck in the back seat, just being a worthless ally and nothing more than that. "I-If we kill him, we will be able to go back, right?" She asked Mikoto. "Definitely." He replied to her. Mikoto stood up to the monster and got his attention by waving his katana around. The monster roared at them as its saliva were flying out from out of it.
Mikoto ran around as Rika was trying to find the perfect opportunity for her to swoop in and get the finishing blow. After five whole minutes of running around the place and trying to tire out the monster, it was working. Mikoto shot a glance at Rika afterwards. This could only mean one thing – it was time. He ran in and tried to decapitate its other leg, but he backed up after faking the monster out. Rika immediately jumped up and landed on its nape. "I do not know what is going on, but if it means to live once more if I kill you, then I would take it in a heartbeat." She said to herself as she screamed as she sliced up the head of the monster pretty cleanly.
She landed on the ground covered in the blood of the monster that she had just slain. "We did it!" Rika said to Mikoto. But her enthusiasm was quickly stopped after what she had seen. Mikoto's left arm was bitten off by the aquatic monster as he was turning pale. "Y-Yeah. I guess we did." He said. "Do not worry about my arm, as long as I will live through the teleportation, I will be as good as new." Mikoto uttered as the two of them were transported back to the apartment room in the blink of an eye.
"Y-Your arm, it is back…" Rika pointed out as Mikoto's left arm definitely was as good as new, like what he said. "Exactly, as long as we do not die, it does not matter if our limbs get cut off. Just be careful about the blood loss." He said. The screen which was showing the humanoid's face was once again showing. "Hello, I am Vicis. You have eliminated the monster successfully. Well done, Red Moon Renegades." He said with a straight expression. "Answer me! What is the purpose for all of this?! Why are we fighting monsters after we were on the verge of death?!" She asked Vicis, but the latter just flat out ignored her. "It's no use, they do not respond to questions at all. It's like they are only here to 'score' us." Mikoto said.
Vicis cleared his throat. "Now, for the scoring. Mikoto, you have gained one point. Whereas Rika has gained five points. That is all. Farewell. We shall meet again when the moon bleeds once more." Vicis said as the screen vanished. "I know you might have a lot of questions, make it quick." Mikoto said with an equally bored face. "Alright, first of all, what the hell?! First, we got sent and were forced to wear these red tights and then made to fight against those creatures! Now your left arm is all good even after being cut?! Just what exactly is happening?!" She asked Mikoto as she had definitely lost all semblance of cool within her.
"The truth is, I am not that sure of it as well. I have fought for five nights now, but this is only the second time that anyone else made it back alive except for me." Mikoto said. "The last thing I remember, however, was swerving off of the road down into a cliff on my motorcycle. I closed my eyes, and the next thing I know – I ended up here." He added. "I assume the same goes for you as well. You've died too, right?" he asked Rika. "I got hit by a truck saving some stupid kid. But I am pretty sure what they are doing here is illegal, I am going to tell the cops as soon as possible." She said. "You might not want to do that, Rika. The last guy that lived and survived a battle died for that reason" he said which made Rika turn cold. "As soon as we went out of the apartment, he approached a policeman and told him everything, of course, the policeman looked at him with disbelief in his eyes. That was when it happened. His head blew up. Boom. Just like that." Mikoto could not be more serious as he said so.
"You expect us to keep on living our lives after witnessing some horrid things like tonight?!" She was still aghast at what transpired. "We can't do anything else." Mikoto said as he walked out of the apartment. "Wait! How can we get out of this loop that we are in?" Rika asked the most important question yet. "When you reach a hundred points, you will definitely be presented with different options, including just getting out of this. But before that happens, being a Red Moon Renegade is something that you should never tell anyone. Keep it a secret if you do not want to blow up." He said. Mikoto waved good bye at her as Rika was now journeying back towards her apartment.
