Leon sighed. And right as his tiny action drew the girl's attention, he activated the mana he already infused into the rune within his spear.

A shockwave erupted in every direction from Leon's spear. It heavily shook his body... and threw the unprepared girl several feet away.
There was no barrier rune infused within the spear that could save him from such a close threat. It was possible to create one, yet it would be so complex it would occupy nearly three-quarters of the surface of Leon's spear.
That's why something as simple as a rudimentary shockwave ended up turning into Leon's last line of defense.
And when Natalye didn't expect this kind of retaliation, she had no means of defending herself against it.
Yet, even when thrown several feet to the back, the girl kept a proper grip on her sword. As such, as soon as she landed, she was ready to lunge right back.
