Chapter 30 - Broken down barrier

"A physical shift." Helix whispered. "A physical shift!" Nyx exclaimed, with a voice that sounded like she had a breakthrough.

Otis brought them quilts to cover their naked selves.

He looked in her direction and saw her cover her body in embarrassment. He took the initiative and walked towards her.

"Here you go," Otis said, covering her with it. They were used to seeing each other naked, but she wasn't, and he completely understood. It was still late at night, and they were in the court yard of their pack house deep in the woods. It was concealed behind a barrier the gods couldn't find, let alone, try to break through it.

They headed inside the pack house since it was really cold and dark. Helix grabbed Kristen's hand violently and dragged her into the house. He threw her unto the living room floor, causing the quilt to fall off of her. She reached for it to try and cover up, but he yelled at her, making her flinch.

Looking down at her, he asked.

"How did you do that?!" He shouted. "I...I don't know..." She replied, all the while trying to reach the quilt. He stepped on it and dragged it away from her. Her next instinct was to cover up with her hands.

"That's not the answer I need! How did you do that!"

"What are you doing, Helix?" Otis asked behind them. "Can't you see?" Helix yelled. "None of this is gonna get you the answer you want, so let me get her off the floor, get her some clothes, and then we can figure this out." Otis suggested. Helix stayed quiet for a while before agreeing.

Otis then went ahead and helped her up. He gave her the quilt again and walked her to one of the rooms.

As they left, Helix, out of frustration and confusion, raked his long dark hair and then stormed to his room. The others awkwardly stood there.

"We've been walking for hours, Achilles. We're getting nowhere." Zale nagged once again. "Suck it up, you baby. I'm not stopping till I find her." Achilles said.

Zale let out a loud, long sigh.

This caused Achilles to stop. He turned and looked at his companion.

"I know this is hard for you, but I need to find her. She's the love of my life, and I don't wanna lose her. Plus, I'm your king, so you have to do as I say. I don't think you should have your own say in matters as delicate and important as this one," Zale burst out laughing. "That was a good one, but you're not my boss, little boy." He pushed past Achilles. "Let's find your woman before the lycans kill her." he added. A smile crept unto Achilles' face as he followed behind Zale.

"How about we share a bed tonight," He said. She looked uncomfortable as he gave her some fresh clothes to wear. He saw the look on her face and immediately changed his demeanor.

"I'm just joking," he smiled. She forced a smile too, but she was dying on the inside.

"Thank you for sticking up for me," she quietly said. "Don't mention it."

"I don't know why he brought me here just to treat so badly?"

"Don't worry about him. I won't let him mistreat you again." Otis said wholeheartedly. He sat next to her on the bed. He placed his hand on her bare shoulders. She shook it off slowly. He disregarded her uncomfortability completely.

"You know you're very beautiful," he said. Kristen closed her eyes for a brief second.

"Once again, thank you," She responded. He smirked at her response. "I wanna show you something," he added.

"Can you step out first so I can get dressed?" she asked. "Of course." He stood and left the room.

She locked the doors and swiftly put on the clothes. She desperately looked around for an escape, but there was nothing.

She was discontented that she couldn't find anything. Her eyes then fell on the bathroom door.

She raced to it and locked the door. She smiled in victory when she saw a window big enough for her to jump out of. She stood on the toilet to try and open it. To her surprise, it opened very easily. She was happy that she finally found a way to escape.

She then started her mission to climb out. Landing swiftly on the wet ground, she made it out successfully. She ran out through the opened gates, and with that, she was finally free.

She didn't know where she was going, but all she wanted was to get away from them. Running at a fast pace, she ran into something, allowing her to fall hard on her back. She was demented. She stood up and tried to run again, but once more, something was blocking her. She got off the ground again and started to panic. It was the barrier Helix mentioned to her the first day she was abducted.

'How do we get out!' Her subconscious mind asked her, or so she thought. She heard a vivid voice. She looked around quickly because she thought someone had seen her. There was no one.

"How do we get out!" She heard the voice again. "Who is that?" she asked herself. "It's me,"

"You, who?"

"I'm your lycan. Your inner voice." She was in disbelief. "My what now?" she asked, disoriented.

"Let's not get carried away. Let's get out of here first," the voice in her head said.

"But how?"

"Take the barrier of witch hazel down by breaking the bond." She stopped focusing for a sec. "Huh!" She exclaimed. "Scatter the ash looking trail."

She looked at the ground and used her feet to scatter the ask-like trail on the ground. She suddenly felt like an entire wall broke down. The barrier breaking down is what caught the attention of the others inside. They all felt it and knew something was up. She immediately ran as this was her only chance to escape. If she got caught again, only the Lord knows what Helix would do to her.
