She took a sip of water from the lake and quickly made her way out. She screeched to a stop when something caught her eye. She began to move closer to the object. As she got closer, she started to make out what it was.
It was a fancy hair fork pin bedazzled with red rubies.
"I've seen this somewhere before, but where?" she thought out loud.
"What is it?" her wolf asked. "It's a hair fork pin. It looks so familiar," her eyes wandered away from the pin for a while.
*gasps!*
"I got it!" She exclaimed. "This belongs to Achilles,"
"Who's Achilles?"
Her smile faded cos she didn't know how to respond. "My um... acquaintance," she tucked her hair behind her ear. "I guess he was looking for me," the thought brought a smile back to her face.
"Shouldn't you get out of here? what are you doing?" her wolf questioned.
"He was here. I need to find him!" She answered.
"Find him? You need to save yourself, Kristen."
"I can't enter the Palace without him, and I have nowhere else to go."
Kristen walked back in the thick forest to find Achilles.
"Are you stupid?!!" Her wolf exclaimed. "Why are you going back in there when you finally found your way out?"
"Shut up, please!" Kristen scolded. "You don't know him. He's... he's the love of my life, and I need to be with him, so if you don't have anything helpful to say, please keep quiet."
Without hesitation, she advanced back to where she came from.
. . .
"What time is it?" Achilles asked, looking over his shoulder at Zale.
"Buddy, I don't know. I didn't exactly grab a phone or anything like that." Zale responded. "But it looks at least 3am." He added.
Achilles was getting frustrated. They've been searching for so long and no luck.
"You think we should go back?" Zale was surprised for a second. "You wanna go back? After coming this far?" He asked.
"I don't wanna go back without her but we're not exactly making any progress." Achilles sighed. They both stood there, contemplating for a while.
They heard foot steps. The night air blew on their faces and hair and the forest was quiet. They turned around. The footsteps were getting closer, the dry leaves crunching with each step.
"Is someone approaching?" Achilles mouthed. Zale shrugged. Achilles then placed his hand on the hilt of his sword just in case he had to defend himself. Two strange figures appeared. They were talking to each other, completely unaware of the two people standing there, getting ready to attack them.
Achilles drew his sword at the sight of the duo.
"Ahhhhh!!!" One of the duo shrieked. It was Aikaterini. "Woahh!" Zale also yelled.
"Who are you? And what are you doing here," Achilles asked while putting his sword away.
"It's the prince." Otis whispered "Call the others." Aika nodded and sent a signal to the pack. They had a thing where whenever they needed back up, they whistled a sound at a frequency only another lycans could hear.
"You didn't exactly answer my question. Who are you!" Achilles shouted. "I wouldn't yell if I were you," Otis responded. "My name is Otis and I'm assuming you know who my brother, Helix is."
Both Zale and Achilles widened their eyes. They stepped back and drew their swords again.
"You're going to fight us?" Aika sneered.
"Seems like a fair fight, yeah." Zale responded.
"Tsk! Think again," her eyes wondered passed Achilles which made him look behind him. His eyes widened ones more, seeing two more pack members. His eye brows furrowed. It wasn't exactly a fair fight and the circumstances weren't favorable. He was getting angry.
"Where's your brother? Huh?! Why isn't he here? He's too afraid to face me so he kidnaps Kris to get back at me? Pathetic!"
"He'll be here soon so keep your pants on but as for Kristen, she escaped. She's a freak that bitch." Otis taunted. Achilles' grip tightened around the hilt in anger.
"She escaped?" Zale asked them. "Yeah." This time it was Nyx who spoke.
Zale turned around and was back to back with Achilles.
"The slut mastered a physical shift in one night. Now tell me if that doesn't surprise you." Otis said.
Thoughts began to arise in Achilles and Zale's heads.
"What?! A physical shift? In one night?" Achilles uttered. Even he thought it was impossible.
No one and not even the lycans themselves could make sense of how it actually happened. In fact they didn't think it was possible until Kristen came around.
"If she escaped, what are you doing here?" Zale asked, looking over Achilles' shoulder to look at Otis.
"We were looking for her until your scent threw us off and so here we are." He answered.
"You're doing a lot of talking aren't you?" Achilles said. "Are you the temporary boss seeing as your brother isn't man enough to be here?"
" You really like to run your mouth prince Achilles." Achilles lifted his eyes brows in surprise.
"Well look at that, he actually has a sense of respect." He laughed about it to Zale. Otis got annoyed.
His eyes glew golden and he beared fangs. He was ready to attack and the rest of the members were ready to follow his lead.
"Are we really gonna do this? It's not you I want, it's your brother." Achilles said. Otis didn't say anything and just charged towards them.
"Stop!" They all heard a voice shout. They all froze solid in their tracks. They all turned to look at the direction of the voice and they saw Helix holding Kristen by the neck, his claws almost sinking into her flesh.
"Kristen!" Achilles exclaimed, attempting to rush towards her. Zale blocked him with his hand and shook his head.
"Move one more inch and I will slit her throat right here, right now." Helix threatened. Achilles gulped as he looked at his helpless Kristen with tears in her eyes. All he wanted to do at that moment was to hug her and kiss her and apologize for all the things he said to her. He knew better than she did at that time so he felt really guilty for everything that happened. He felt like a terrible person.
"Ok Helix, it's me you want so... so just let her go. Don't do this." Achilles said. "Don't tell me what to do!" Helix yelled.
Achilles turned to look at Zale and even he didn't know what to do.
"Alright what do you want? I'll do anything but just please let her."
