Synopsis
“She killed your father”, “She is nothing but a traitor” They complained, His reply came swiftly short but accurate, much to the dismay of the court officials. “ Yet......, I do not care, I will still marry her”. ___________ Samaira Roberts, third daughter of the Honorable Duke of the north, Duke Alfred, catches the eye of the Old King of her Kingdom due to her outspoken nature. She was a young lady of twenty years and he was a forty five year old king with six wives and eight grown up children to top it all. Such alliances would have been frowned upon as soon as it came to light but he was the King of the kingdom and that made it all the more possible. But beautiful Samaira would never allow such. She was not just beautiful but smart as well and in this world where only men were respected and approved, she planned to make a name for herself and marriage was seen as a big hinderance to that. But due to her lack of power, she was pushed to the side and the marriage with the King persisted with her father the Duke being simply helpless in the situation. But a sudden turn of events causes the King’s DEATH and an innocent Samaira was accused of being the cause and was also sentenced to death without a fair trial. What will become of Samaira? A young lady who planned to make a name for herself in a generation were women were nothing but tools in the eyes of men? Death sentence was the worst punishment and especially if it was carried out on an innocent soul but the plot as always, was just getting interesting. What about the sudden proposal of the King’s only son? To Marry his father’s supposed 7th wife. A marriage between a Traitor and a Prince.... Now that was something to really frown upon. ______________ Sam was wondering and at the same time she was walking behind Dino. Her eyes which were staring at his broad shaped back as he walked away, would widen at a sudden thought and then she would glare daggers at him once again for his indifference. Dino felt her harsh gaze on him and to him it was much more better than her unending questions. Curiosity kills the cat they say but it was surely going to take a while before it kills this big cat of a lady. He would have not bothered with her as long as she remained quiet but she kept on following him whichever hallway he turned. He suddenly stopped and she stopped as well. He turned swiftly to stare at her, her brown eyes stared back at him with questioning brows. " What?", they both chorused together, causing Dino to frown and Sam to glare harder.

Chapter 1 - ThiN LonG RopeS

Sam held onto the thin long rope as though she were holding on to her dear young life.

If she made any mis-steps she would definitely fall badly and that was the only thought that went through her always thinking small head.

Her brown eyes stared upwards as though she could see the person up there in her room balcony but all she could see was the continuous length of the rope.

Her hands were hurting as it had been holding unto the strong ropes for a while.

On remembering that any more time wasted would mean her end, she simply gathered her courage and proceeded with climbing.

She struggled a few more as her thin fair hands begged to finally let go of the rope.

With her last strength she climbed harder and finally her hand fell on the balcony bricks as she let go of the rope.

She held onto it feeling like she would faint any moment from now but before her hands could simply slip off leading her to her doom, a pair of strong arms quickly grabbed her and lifted her forward as she unconsciously moved forward as well.

Sam stumbled into the person's body and they both fell to the floor. She stayed unmoving simply gathering her strength while he groaned from the impact of the fall.

It took her few minutes to realize it was her personal guard, Walter Stone, who had helped her. She was lying on his sturdy body not even hurt in any places and that was all thanks to him.

" One day, you will surely be the death of me Lady Samaira", he exclaimed in a strained voice and she smiled slowly.

" And I will forever honor you in my heart Walter", she replied him and he chuckled lightly obviously not agreeing with her.

" Get up Walter", she slowly said to him feeling like she had lost half of her strength.

Climbing those ropes to get to her room balcony wasn't something she preferred doing but it was the only way to get into the Manor without attracting attention and she had to.

" Sam you're the one who should perhaps stand, you are lying on me after all", he said in a relaxed tone not planning to move a muscle causing her to outwardly groan which was simply deemed unladylike for a lady of her status.

She finally lifted herself off him with struggle only to feel the cold night breeze upon her making her shudder as she turned away from him realization dawning on her that she was still in the balcony.

She hurried towards her room while Walter stood up as well and dusted his body before following after her.

He had a pair of warm green eyes and a head full of luscious blonde hair. His muscular body did nothing but enhance his male appeal and if he weren't a mere guard he would surely befit the status of a charming prince.

He closed the doors to the balcony and the only light in the room became the already lit candle lights and the light appearing from the fireplace.

" Has my mama already come to check up on me?", Sam asked Walter as she simply brought out a book that had been hidden in her undergarments and she stored it in her small shelves of books at a corner in her room.

" Not yet, she only sent a maid to come call you for dinner and I covered for you as you had asked Milady", he replied dutifully and watched as she frantically moved about before stopping in front of him.

" Thank you so much Walter", she said patting him on the shoulder affectionately before heading towards her lonely wardrobe.

As a Duke's daughter, her room was always arranged before she even returned.

She scanned the wardrobe searching for a comfortable night wear while Walter's questioning eyes followed after her.

" I'm trying so hard but I just cannot understand why you returned this late, are you seeing someone perhaps that you never bothered to tell me about?", he asked loud enough for her to turn to him and shush him hurriedly.

" Keep your voice down Walter", she whispered throwing one of her dresses at him which he caught quite unprepared. He stared away from the gown just in time to see her taking off her clothing and he swiftly turned around.

" What required your presence Samaira? I thought you had finally published that ongoing book of yours and it was only until September before you go there ever again", he asked sincerely and he felt her footsteps behind him.

He turned around to see her finally dressed in her long white night gown and she was simply letting her blonde long hair loose.

" Well I received a letter that demanded my appearance, something about money and stuff", she answered hurriedly as she finally freed her hair letting it rest on her shoulders.

" Now go hide Walter.. Mama will be here any moment now", she exclaimed hurriedly and he sighed hoping to ask more later before taking the dress in his hand and placing it carefully inside the wardrobe.

With an understanding look, he went out of the room through the balcony doors so as to hide while she shut the door behind him quickly rushing to stare at her reflection in her dressing mirror.
