"Hmm... Before, yeah. But doesn't that cost a hefty amount of money?"
Potion of Disguise allows you to mimic or turn into someone of the same gender for as long as you like. However, a person will be back to his or her original appearance once her real name is spoken directly in front of you. A small bottle of Simulate, about 100 ML, costs 100 Plata, which is, as Jorp said, quite hefty.
"It is. But you shouldn't be worrying about the price."
"What exactly do you want me to do? Babysit them? Be your eyes while you move forward with your evil schemes?"
The two were almost finished with their lunch, with just one more dish left to eat. Most of the food was eaten by Jorp, for he hasn't had food that good for so long after getting convicted and delivered to Haven City. Jorp would not pass on something appetizing and delectable.
"Yes, you'll be my eyes. All of their actions, plans, everything, you will tell me all of them. But I want you to remember that I am not coercing you into this," Invictus stopped for a moment, pulling something out of his mouth. "There's a small rock in my food. Anyway, you can always decline. But..."
Invictus' last words trailed off meaningfully. Jorp picked up on what he was about to say, and couldn't avoid swallowing his fear that went unnoticed.
'Invictus does not intend on letting me go, even if I refuse to do the job. As long as I stick to his plan, he'll do nothing to me. I should just go along with him, and ditch him later on after we leave Haven City.'
Jorp's dream of leaving Haven City aligned with Invictus' plan. That is why he agreed to work with Invictus. However, once their deal is done here, Jorp plans on taking revenge on everyone that did him wrong. He must have somehow achieved justice upon bringing it to his hands but not fully.
'There still lies some evil back in my hometown that needs to be purged. I am sorry, Invictus, for your loss. But I also have some unfinished business that needs to be done.'
"No need to passively throw threats at me, Meliora. I'll accept the job once we get out."
Invictus slightly smiled. No, it was more of a smirk than a smile for Jorp. Invictus' head was lightly tilted to the side with his mouth arched up in a grin.
Jorp's place was a rundown former small gambling den. He does not pay rent or anything because of how bad the condition of his house was by the time he occupied it. With the materials and resources, also the help of those people Invictus brutally massacred, Jorp was successful in restoring the house even if it was simple and not as desirable as other houses.
"Then, I'll be counting on you, Jorp. Failure isn't an option and it isn't even listed in my vocabulary. Everything I do, I do it with utmost care."
When they were finished eating, the two of them sought the rank 1 faction in Haven City to transact and convince them into helping them in destroying Haven City.
Out of all the factions, there are, this particular group will be the most troublesome of them all due to their strong desire to rebuild Haven City to a far more vile and atrocious place known to mankind.
"You've been here before, Meliora. You must know who is the leader of the ranked number 1 faction, yeah?"
The ranked 1 faction's base was far larger and had tight security. Repeating what they did to Bethel's base camp would be impossible. So, Invictus and Jorp changed their approach this time.
"I'm aware. Precautions and a solid plan are needed to swift them off their feet. Therefore, I devised an unfailing scheme, whereupon rejection of my offer isn't optional for them."
In reality, Invictus did not really think of any sort of plan they will use to smoothly convince faction 1.
"Words alone are not enough to coerce them. Demonstrating to them what it means to be strong and intelligent sometimes, no, always prove yourself."
And Jorp totally agrees with Invictus, nodding his head, "hmm, hmm... Then, are you going alone?"
"Yeah... I can't have someone weigh me down, so you'll be waiting outside. Your reputation isn't as good as before after that incident, right?"
Jorp's brows rose after hearing Invictus' insulting words.
"Dude... That incident was not my fault. You know what, just forget about it. I don't even wanna talk about it."
The ranked 1 faction's base was built in the middle of the city, a towering building constructed by countless criminals before, which serves as the city's last hope. However, the people of Haven City turned their backs when the god, who was giving them his blessing, stopped doing so.
With their group, being the strongest faction there was at the time, they occupied the three-story building, using the former church to their will.
"Since the church was not surrounded by other houses, it became pretty easy for them to guard the place, seeing who's leaving and approaching the area."
It was not fenced, but the criminals assigned to guard the vicinity were far stricter than fences.
"This is as far as I can go," stated Jorp, staying a meter away from the posts. "Even if it's daylight, they won't hesitate to attack once they see you as a threat."
Only two factions agreed to help Invictus in his plan. Most of them didn't like the idea of being ordered around by a newcomer, so they shut him down but professed that they will agree if Invictus convinced the leader of faction 1.
"Okay, you wait here."
Invictus handed something hard to Jorp. It was small and dangerous.
"What's this?" He asked, confused.
"For your own safety. Just throw that in the ground and you'll be safe to escape."
And so Invictus began towards the church but was immediately blocked by two stationed guards.
