Chereads / A Cadaver Wanders / Chapter 54 - Chapter 54

Chapter 54 - Chapter 54

"Who are you and for what purpose are you trying to enter the church?"

After the church was abandoned by its god, the throne built for him became empty, and so was taken by the faction leader of the ranked 1 group.

"Hmm, I would like to offer some money for the lord to receive his blessings."

He showed his pouch full of Plata, and how the two of them bawled their eyes and almost popped it out.

"Our liege will gladly meet you inside!"

They have heard of the masked man, roaming around, making a name for himself. Every one of them was ordered to bring Invictus in once he decided to visit the church and see him.

Snickeringly, Jorp watched them guide Invictus inside the church.

'Those fools don't know who they are dealing with.'

He has been with Invictus whenever he was working on his plan. And he had seen it all, the worst and what can turn into the worst-case scenario.

'Invictus is one insidious fucker. Great measures must be considered when dealing with him. Losing his magic abilities made him a far more terrifying human alive in Estaria.'

The door closed on Jorp's eyes and Invictus easily infiltrated the church just by showing them money, real Plata.

Inside, Invictus met the glorious decorations on the walls, colorful paintings, and rare collections brought from outside of the walls.

Women in maid outfits were cleaning off the dust in the furniture, statues of what seemed to be the faction leader in its glory.

They noticed the two guards escorting Invictus inside and they all waved, especially at Invictus.

'These people can smell money, and it is scary.'

The ground floor was pretty much full of collections and images of the faction leader. Some valuable items were also stored on the ground floor.

"Our liege is waiting for you at the top."

"I'm afraid you will have to go alone. We have to go back to our posts."

Neither of the two went with Invictus to the second floor of the church. One step and he already felt the ominous aura stagnant on the second floor. Invictus could sense the monstrous vibes waiting for him to reach the next floor.

While standing still at the last step, an unknown voice whispered in Invictus' ears.

"What are you waiting for? Come up and take a look."

On the second floor, a bunch of deranged criminals was glaring at him, each of them was remarkable, and people that should not be underestimated. They go from kids to the eldest, people that hold a grudge against a particular person who once visited the city.

"Who do we have here?"

To match the passive-aggressive threats being directed at Invictus, he deliberately let his immense bloodlust run wild, which was felt in the whole church.

"Fufu! We have an interesting fellow here with us!"

Many of them were intrigued and instantly wanted to challenge Invictus in a fight. Some stayed back, chose to watch things progress from there, and wait for everything to escalate into a fight.

"Everyone, stay back! This is my prey!"

An overly built deranged 6 foot 5 tall murderers stepped forward, cracking his knuckles, and preparing to break some bones.

"Tch! That damn ogre...! I wish for him to take the piss!"

"It's not always you see the ogre excited. This masked man has everyone intrigued."

A heavy spikey metal ball attached to chains was swung around effortlessly. The ogre carried the metal ball with him as he approached Invictus near the staircase.

"Umm, I'm here to offer your liege my wealth."

No one was fazed upon showing a pouch full of Plata. They were more concerned about Invictus than the money he possessed.

"Clever, brave, a one-man army, we've heard different stories about you, Meliora. But those stories always bring us to the time you mutilated Jorp's comrades, then proceeded to display it like it was some kind of show."

If Invictus were to fight everyone on the second floor, which surely possessed strength and intelligence on par with him, he would doubt he would win.

Without prior notice, the ogre in his raging desire to fight Invictus charged forward, and with the snap of his comrade's finger transported them outside where they will be free to destroy their surroundings.

'Did someone teleport us outside?'

On Invictus' lower back, his short sword was sheathed. He didn't have the time to block. The ogre had already thrown his weapon in Invictus' direction. The metal ball that was about the size of a wrecking ball crashed on the wall after Invictus rolled to the side.

'Hmm... Everyone's watching right now.'

The deranged criminals Invictus saw earlier in the church were floating in the air, watching them from above.

Invictus was known for being agile, adroit, and forward, especially when a lot of eyes are focused on him.

"Let's bet on how long the newcomer will last!"

Bets were made from the fight. Sion, also known as the ogre, made blatant and predictable attacks, which were easy to avoid. By doing so, the ogre will slowly analyze Invictus' movement patterns. And thus, constructing a single decisive blow, which will bring down Invictus in one strike.

"Is running around all you're gonna do?"

Trifling provocations came out of the ogre's mouth. Invictus just ignored everything he said and deeply focused on how he will bring down Sion more fashionably or magnificently.

"No more bets? Hey, Perseus! Ain't you gonna bet, eh?"

"10 Plata for the newcomer. If I win, I want you to triple my money."

Perseus was not joking around. He handed the said amount to his comrade and continued to watch closely the battle.

'If I get closer to him, I'll be able to get him, but I doubt it will be that easy."
