Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

3rd person Pov:

Today was a celebrative day inside the mansion of the Revstein family. Many noble houses gathered to celebrate the birthday ceremony of the newest member of the Revstein family. Michael von Revstein was now three years of age. Many nobles were here to pay respects to the leading noble families only. Some were here to make a good impression on the Revstein family. While some were here with some hidden motives.

To be exact three families were here with hidden motives. First and foremost, the Royal family. They were here to gauge the mood and plans of the Revstein family. With the newest family member, they wanted to see if he was another talent like all the other members or not. If he was, they would make appropriate measures to bring him to their side and if they were not able to do that, then they might do something unsavory. For that purpose, the king of the Carenheim Kingdom, Phillip Carenheim himself had come to attend the party.

The second one was the Heraiz family. Their presence was unwelcomed, yet they had invited themselves to the party. Their presence only soiled the mood of Males of the Revstein family, especially Joseph's. Carla was also somewhat tense about her family member's presence. They were doing their best to avoid them but as Carla was the daughter of the Heriaz Family patriarch, they had to confront them, but Joseph was still not willing to and that could be seen from his face.

The third family was another Duke Noble family of the Carenheim kingdom. And that was the Messiah family. Messiah family enjoyed close relations with the Revstein family. That was because the head of both families were best friends and had participated in many battles and the war fifty-two years ago together. The head of the Messiah family was here with the intention of changing his friendship with the Revstein family to the relation of a family.

His granddaughter had just turned three a few days ago. With her Awakening ceremony, she had massive talent for magic. The awakening crystal had shown a smooth journey to the Archmage level. And also, her potential was greater than that. Her second awakening would show her true talent at the age of seven. He wanted her granddaughter to be betrothed to Michael. The king himself had asked for his granddaughter to be betrothed to his second son who also had a talent for magic. But Blake Messiah had rejected that offer even with the protest of many family members one of them being his daughter-in-law.

With all the motives and conspiracies going on from many nobles, no one seemed like they were here to actually celebrate the birthday ceremony. All were hoping that they can mingle and make connections. Everyone had their own plans. By making Michael von Revstein happy, they could make the Revstein family happy. That was why everyone was waiting for the star of the ceremony to show up.

And they didn't have to wait much longer as the doors of the room opened and a cute-looking child wearing a suit walked in. the moment he entered, everyone held their breath. The child was too cute, and everyone gathered there could tell that he would grow up to be a handsome man. The Child walked in confidently with his head held high. He was not intimidated by many people gathered there, even if some of them had an overbearing presence. He was not even holding the hand of his mother who was walking beside him.

He came forward and first and foremost greeted his grandfather in a cute yet confident voice. "Michael von Revstein greets Grandfather. Please accept my greeting." It was a peculiar greeting. One made to a noble even in the presence of the king. Everyone had that same thought there, but it did not matter to any of the members of the Revstein family. And then his next greeting was to the king. To the king, he merely bowed with his hand on his chest. He didn't kneel as the decorum required.

This was another abnormality the child had shown them in just a few moments. Many thought that the Revstein family did not teach him the proper decorum but the faces of the women of the family were tense. They had told Michael how to greet the king. When they told him that the first time, he had asked them in return, "Why should I show respect to a person whom I don't even know? I will first greet my grandfather and if I like the king then I will do as you said but if I do not then I will simply greet him." When they heard what they said they felt cold sweat down their backs while the men laughed boisterously. Carla reprimanded him for that and told him not to do that, but Michael was stubborn in this matter even though he was a very obedient child, especially in front of Carla.

And what they feared came to pass. He did exactly as he had said. Even his bow was very short. That was a show of disrespect to the king. Everyone present there knew that and they were sure of it after seeing the stiff expression of the King. That stiffness was only for a moment but even then, almost everyone present had noticed it. The King quickly turned his expression into a benevolent one and greeted him back.

This was another display of the might of the Revstein family. Even though a child of the family had shown great disrespect to the King, no one reprimanded him. Noah, Caleb, and Joseph simply stood there with a smile on their faces. The king could only hold back the feeling of disrespect. He was aware of the truth. He knew that the Revstein family had no intentions of serving as his subjects, but just them being in this kingdom was what made his kingdom stronger. If he did anything to anger them, he might be the last Carenheim ruler of this Kingdom. But with this, now he knew what he had to do with Michael von Revstein.
