Chereads / Lowest Class Citizen / Chapter 5 - Enemy Hero

Chapter 5 - Enemy Hero

Full of confidence, the woman continued to quickly move around to heal the other wounded lying unconscious on the ground. She looked rather pale the more she healed, but she didn't stop.

Zane was thinking of continuing to help his beautiful colleague, but evaluated she no longer needed his assistance. She already had a willing dog following her around trying to lick her hand and following all her commands.

Now somewhat healed and with renewed determination, Zack stuck closely by Lily's side and giving dirty looks to keep others away.

"If he was only there as a guard dog, I wouldn't be concerned, but Zach probably has ulterior motives." Zane thought to himself. Noticing Lily telling Zach to keep out of her way, Zane was a slightly relieved over his concern. Zach's bad reputation preceded him. Lily already knew the infamous rumors.

Focusing on himself, Zane debated what to do. Recalling Lily as she performed something out of this world, Zane thought Lily's new power was probably related to her trial.

"She probably got a job related to healing, and a powerful one seeing how she's going around healing all those people with half a foot in the grave." Thinking about his trail he didn't remember acquiring anything besides items.

"The update notification said we can check our status and inventory. How though?" As if on cue, a series of blue status screens popped up.

"At least my inventory looks decent. It's almost half full." Zane happily thought to himself. However, an intrusive remark broke his thoughts.

"Hey happy slave worker! You get placed into the slave class too?" Zack's sarcastically mocked. Zane looked at Zack like he was an idiot. The guy was looking for trouble, but Zane was already used to his tactics.

"What? Don't give me that look!" Zack got defensive, and Zane rolled his eyes. Ignoring the insecure man, Zane continued to think about what to do next. However, Zack kept getting more out of hand.

"Why are you ignoring me four-eyes? You became the slave you are huh?!" Zack was making a scene as all eyes were on the two of them.

"Not your problem." Zane simply said while returning to his thoughts.

Zack's cynical face twisted with rage as he grabbed Zane and slammed him into the wall.

"You think you're always on top of the world?! Let me tell you punk! I'm a hero! You skinny freak! Once those alien turns you into a slave, I'll own you! Get ready for hell bastard!!!"

Shoving Zane against the wall, Zack stormed off knocking anything and anyone in his way. Zane was speechless. He couldn't understand why Zane disliked him so much and always came after him for trouble.

"What is he so caught up with? He's way better looking than me and more athletic too. I don't even talk to him. Why can't he go bother someone else?" Zane had trouble understanding where Zack's resentments came from.

Everyone looked at him with questions written all over their face, but Zane shrugged, gesturing that he didn't know because he honestly did not know. With Zack's threats and job as a hero , Zane felt a creeping feeling that he would be burdened by whatever schemes Zack had in store for him.

Pointing out the window, someone loudly yelled, "oh my god!!! What is that!!!l Everyone in the room followed the pointing finger and saw a humongous black abyss tearing through the blue sky. Chaos ensued as people panicked. It was quickly quelled though as the blue screen window popped up simultaneously before everyone.

This time the blue screen did not have any words but only a screen full of static. The static quickly was replaced by the images of a handsome man in a luxurious blue business suit. With a cold and disparaging tone he began to speak.

"Citizens of the Embst Sovereignty. I am your new designated planetary supervisor, a 1st class citizen. You have been graced by the rare presence of a true elite. You may only call me Supervisor Xinjin. Failure to comply will be met with punishment."

Zane realized that these guys really cared about image and rank. He could already feel a disdain for the all earthlings in the tone of the alien man's voice.

The man was human-like and was hard to tell otherwise. His appearance though was meticulous. His hair was combed to the side, but it was too uniform. It was as if he pulled every hair fiber into place.

The suit the man donned was a deep royal blue perfectly fitting over a sky-blue collared shirt. All of the clothes he had on were perfectly smooth without a single ripple or wrinkle. A badge of three white stars was pinned to the color shirt showing off his rank. Zane carefully listened to what the man had to say next.

"Slaves will immediately be taken and escorted now." With the completion of Supervisor Xinjin's sentence, flashes of light were seen coming out of the abyss. Before anyone saw them, bulky figures dressed in a black uniform immediately surrounded individuals around the office and around the world.

They grabbed people by the arms and hauled them off so quickly they didn't get the chance to scream. The immediate actions left everyone dumbstruck. There was no discussion, no explanation. Every order was implemented instantly.

The planetary supervisor looked inconvenienced having to deal with such pathetic beings. He was reviewing a notificationwindow and felt like he was dealt was terrible hand. He only had a handful worth his attention. Not wanting to have to deal with the worthless lot he simply would delegate them to his subordinates.

"All citizens will report to their designated area in the following notification window. Failure to comply will lead to punishment. That is all."
