Chereads / Lowest Class Citizen / Chapter 6 - On the Other End

Chapter 6 - On the Other End

The transmission ended.

A tense silence weighed heavily in a room with 10 people nervously standing in a military stance with their hands behind their back.

The planetary supervisor Xinjin sat leaning forward behind an ornate wood desk. His hands were fiercely clenched together in front of his face as he stared murderously straight ahead. The farce of his ridiculous assignment made him laugh suddenly, surprising his 10 subordinates.

His cynical laugh abruptly stopped, before a surge of energy pressed everyone in the room onto their knees. The 10 subordinates in the room feared their superior's sudden assault. All they could think about was if the man was going to vent his anger and frustration on them.

"Those slimy bastards. They messed with the wrong person!" Supervisor Xinjin blasted out. "How dare they treat me this way! After all this time serving the collective, this is what they gave me in return! A bastard planet out in the boonies of the multiplane!? They're purposely trying to bring me down!"

Venting his frustration, the planetary supervisor regained his composure and withdrew his aura.

"I will not fail. Just you wait Axis, this has only just begun. I will have my revenge." Making a vow to himself he quickly returned back to business mode.

"Get up all of you! Report!" The supervisor demanded his 10 subordinates.

Standing back up, the fear they felt disappeared from their demeanor and they all reverted back to their professional stance. The 10 were evenly distributed with 5 men and 5 women.

The busty cute blonde woman in a secretarial outfit pushed back her glasses onto the bridge of her nose and was first to speak out.

"Sir! Of the inhabitants of this planet, roughly 30,000 acquired 2nd class citizenship, around 2,000,000 have 3rd class citizenship, almost 2 billion are 4th class citizens, another 2 billion are 5th class citizens, 1 billion were taken as slaves by the collective, and the rest perished during the trial."

The planetary supervisor grimaced.

"How many total have combat related jobs? And of what class?"

This time the sexy curly-haired brunette next to the blonde spoke next. Giving a side smile to the blonde beside her, she softened her posture and held her chest up to accentuate her tight-fitted suite exposing her perky chest. As she spoke, a slow seductive voice flowed through the room.

"Sir… Of the roughly four billion or so citizens, we have about 30% that have combat related jobs. Within each class, the distribution is very similar with about 29% to 35% who obtained a combat job.

"Much too low." Supervisor Xinjin deeply pondered as he drummed his long fingers on the table.

"It would be fine in other times, but we are at war. We'll have to use some of the lower citizens as throw-away shields as we train our higher level citizens."

Looking around at his ten subordinates, he was thinking of how to turn the odds in his favor. He needed time to grow the little talents he had available. He couldn't waste losing a single one this early on.

Honestly, he needed all that he could hold on to, but he was in a bad spot with no good options.

Thinking of the large finances he would be soon consuming, he couldn't just throw away all his lower class citizens as well. He needed them in the beginning to bring him raw resources so that his higher class citizens with specialized jobs could make more valuable items. He could then turn around and use them or sell them.

He wasn't sure what would be the best optimal solution. Wanting more ideas, he decided to state his opinions first and see what everyone thought.

"I need opinions and ideas. You know the circumstances. There's a good amount of resources on this planet, but we will need much of the lower classes to collect them in the beginning. Yet, we need enough of them to go to the front lines to buy us time to get our stronger and main forces trained and ready. Training the citizens with specialized jobs to make decent products we can use or sell will also take time as well. There's not enough low class citizens with combat jobs so we will have to sacrifice some of the others. The question is how many?"

A tall burly man in thick leather armor responded. "I agree. The new 2nd and 3rd class citizens need time to grow enough in order to fight back. I'd say we send all the 5th classes with combat jobs first with a quarter of the common jobs to assist."

An older man in heavy armor with a long face and a stout nose hummed lost in his thoughts before responding . "We should give those newbies going to the front lines some training as well. The ten of us should send some of our forces to hold back the enemy so we can train the ones we're sending out with basic fighting skills. If not, we may simply be wasting resources as they may all be killed off and we would simply be sending more to the same fate. It does none of us any good."

An older lady in a refined gown chimed in. "Lucas is right. We must do so. There also may be those in the lower class worth more than what they seem."

A fat man in a luxurious gemmed-studded robe snorted. "A rat will always be a rat. There's no changing who they fundamentally are. Even if they put on a nice dress, it can't hide their lowly blood."

"You dare!" The refined woman exclaimed as the air around her began to churn.

A wave of energy pushed the two flat on the floor. They were unable to resist the unfathomable power.

"Enough! Thaniel. This is your final warning. Gisele, you as well. Do you two forget who you stand before?" Supervisor Xinjin coldly stated as he gave a deathly stare at the two. The two quickly apologized in fear of their life. First class citizens were dreaded and avoided for a good reason.

"There are truths to what you both say. However, I will make the final call. Unnecessary comments will be punished." The planetary supervisor put his foot down.

Another old man in a butler uniform resumed the original talk. "Master Xinjin, I concur with sending some of the forces of the ten here out first. Though the non-combats job holders cannot learn as quickly as the others with combat-related ones, if we give them a high ranking skill holder to teach them, the speed and chances of the new citizens learning are much higher."

A beefy hairy man in chainmail bellowed out his opinion. "I agree, but I say we do the training on the front lines. What better way than to learn first hand?"

A laid back young man in a tunic and trousers agreed and added his opinion. "True, though I say we keep it minimal. That way they build experience as they learn without dying right away."

A pair of twins in hooded black cloaks hiding their figure simply nodded.

"So we have a plan. We'll keep it flexible as we go, in case there are unexpected changes. I want the ten of you to divide your training staff 70/30, with 30 including those holding off the frontlines. Those of the 30% will also train the newbies we will be sending out. The frontlines will only be for controlled experience. I want minimal casualties. The longer they can persist and not die the better." Thinking about what Gisele said, he added another condition.

"Also tell them to keep an eye out for any potential that they come across. I need talent. Right now I don't care who it is."

Continuing, he further ensured the proper attention was placed on the second and third class citizens.

"Myra. Liz. You two will compile the data and send all the citizens to their designated areas. I need you two to carefully ensure that we focus on collecting resources and training our forces, especially the 2nd and 3rd class citizens.

With their hands on their bosom, the blonde and brunette acknowledged their tasks. "As you decree, Supervisor Xinjin."

"The rest of you, I need you to focus on your area of training and the collecting resources of your dominion. Think of any loopholes we may have missed or ideas for development."

He thought that doing just this would not be enough. Desperate times called for desperate measures.

"I will temporarily allow the use of my fourth library collection for all to use at no charge to further buy us time. I expect reports on progress, daily. Understood?"

Everyone one in the room shouted back. "Yes! Master Xinjin!"
