Chapter 1 - Ariel

The pathway hills of Snow Hill.....

"Change of plans. Ride to the Denbighshire county," said a man dressed in a complete suit attire, seated at the back of a driven carriage.

Beside him was another man, whom from his composure and dressing could be calculated as an aide.

The duke of Snow hill had his face covered in a mask, in order to hide his profile and identity away. The way he spoke with great power in his tone, showed how mighty and fearless he was.

"Yes, my Lord," the carriage rider replied, making a u turn at once.

Few minutes later..

"Lord Derek, we have arrived at the Denbighshire county. To where am I supposed to come to a halt?"

"To the village square," he briefly replied.

His rider nodded his head and rode straight to the square.

In no seconds they arrived. Lord Derek took out a paper scroll, then he handed it to his aide and whispered something to his ear.

The aide nodded, then he stepped down of the carriage and strode to wherever.

As for the duke, he picked up a newspaper which had been by his side, then he began to mop at it.

From the stare he gave the newspaper, it was very clear that he wasn't reading, he only needed to focus on something in order to pass out time.

"Good day," the aide said to a random man who happened to pass by him.

"Good day to you," the man replied after turning around to see who it was that greeted.

"I am here to deliver a message to Sir Conner, the vicar of Bedford but I do not really know where his place of dwell is located."

"I can direct to you his place," the man replied.

"Thank you, I'll be really grateful for this."

The man nodded and gestured for the aide to follow him.

"The next building after the cottage in the other end belongs to the vicar," he directed, pointing at the house he was making reference too.

"Thank you," he replied.

They both shook hands and left for their separate destinations.

He got to the house and knocked twice before yelling out, "anyone home?"

"Hi," Conner, an average aged man, around forty two, appeared.

"Good day sir. Are you sir Conner, the vicar?"

"Yes, I am."

The aide immediately handed the scroll to him.

Mr Conner accepted the scroll but with a look of utmost confusion.

Without asking any further questions, he untied the scroll and read through the contact.

There was no form of expression on his face while he read and after he read the content.

"Where is he?"

"Please follow me sir, he specifically asked me to guide you to him."

Conner nodded, he looked back inside his house, battling in his mind whether to go in or just follow the duke's aide at once.

At last he chose to go at once.

The left door of the carriage slightly swung open. The aide held the carriage door open, while the vicar of Bedford  hopped in, and then he closed the door at once.

From his actions, it could be deduced that he did not want to be seen entering into the carriage. Perhaps he didn't want anyone thinking that he had any relationship whatsoever with the great duke of Snow Hill.

"Good day my Lord," he greeted.

"Good day to you, sir Rahul," he replied.

He gave his rider a signal with his eyes, without wasting any time, the driver climbed out of the carriage.

That was indeed a very smooth conversation. But how was the driver able to see Lord Derek's eye signal?

As soon as the rider left, Lord Derek and sir Conner began to discuss.

"I'm getting advanced in age and yet have no relationship with any woman whatsoever. What am I to do?" The duke asked.

Of course he needed advise and the only person who was fit to him give him that was the vicar, his late father's best friend.

Conner sighed. "You are a man of eagerness. I am very convinced that you know exactly what you are supposed to do."

"I am supposed to get married to a woman but what about my scars? I'm very aware that any single woman will be willing to marry me but that is not the case. The problem is that I do not want to marry an imposter. None of these women would be willing to marry me if I wasn't a duke or an influential man."

Indeed there was a very big point in what he said. Lord Derek is an ugly man with so many scars, no woman would marry him if he had no influence and wealth.

The vicar looked at him thoughtfully. He promised the duke's late father that he was going to stand in for him and make sure Snow Hill continues to be in safe hands.

Now it was time to fulfill this promise, he had to help Lord Derek find a loyal woman, who would sincerely love him, not for his money or any gain.

"I have a solution to your problem. You need not worry, I think I know the perfect woman for you. A woman who will certainly love you for who you are and not for what you have to offer.

"Thank you so much. I knew coming to you would be the perfect step to take," lord Derek praised, showing how grateful he truly was.

Somewhere in England, in the county of Denbighshire.....

A young blonde jumped off the bed with her disheveled hair and pale face. The way she pressed on to her head showed that her head was aching.

She dragged her foot on the bare floor turning her eyes left and right around her bedroom...

She seemed to be searching for something or rather someone.
