VRMMORPG's were a game changer when they first launched into the world, however the entire genre immediately fell into the same old clichéd state that drives true gamers to a state of intense rage.
Games driven by their easy playability, ease of acquiring equipment or just spending real money on cash boxes to launch your character into the upper tier of player without trying.
After 20 years of this finally the moment has come, for a real VRMMORPG to drop.
The releases from the developers have indicated it's going to be a game like no other, since it's going to be implementing thought acceleration allowing for seven in game days to pass for 12 hours of real-time.
Since there would no longer be a time crunch all aspects of the game will be manual.
Everything from Combat, to magic, even crafting must be done in a manual method.
Gone will be the days when all you need to is select the appropriate icon and wait a span of seconds for the recipe to be completed in subspace before just appearing in front of you.
Commanding a spell with a single word before launching it towards a pre-determined target.
Conducting melee combat with a sword assist program influencing your moves.
Since everything would be done manually your personal sword technique will determine your own personal combat score, magic can only be performed after chanting spells whereupon you must learn the words of power by using the Elder Tongue, and crafting you must go through all the motions and actions required to create everything.
For months I've poured over every release or tidbit of information on the game apply to and praying vehemently about being chosen for the Beta Test.
Today is the day, all my hopes were chosen and in my hands rests one of only 10,000 copies of the game here on earth, feeling the thin plastic wrapping the boxes exterior.
The minute i got home i tore the wrapping off along with the box, before inserting the game jewel into my haptic game station, switching the system on and climbing in.
Laying down on the gel suspension zero gravity bed, placing the head enclosure and selecting to start the core program.
Vwwwmmm
What appears before me was a clear white space, on the left was a series of shelves housing my save data and old games, straight ahead was a little reading nook with a floating window housing my presently installed and available games, and lastly to my right, was a single floating Icon with the words
[Welcome to Death To Elysium before we begin please review the terms and conditions along with the Non-Disclosure agreement]
... Scroll ... Scroll
"Ugh"
Scroll Scroll Scroll
"Just how long is this thing!"
Scroll Scroll Scroll Scroll
"Finally the end, just how long was this thing... and would anyone sane even both to read it time accelerated or otherwise?"
"Huh, well duh of course I would... what a stupid thing to ask"
After finally clearing the first hurdle the Icon expanded, exploding in a flash of light changing everything I could see before me revealing a character creation section.
"Hmm ok lets see here"
Gender
Race
Class ...
Hmm new game I bet everyone's going to go for combat, or magic which is going to cause all manner of pvp for hunting grounds and quests so I think I'll break the mold and go for a production class... but which one, woodworker, blacksmith, oh look a general production class yeah let's go with
Hmm starting skills... Let's go with
Ok looks like they all start at level one, though Inventory counts as a form of magic so i won't be able to use it until i learn the basics of Elder Tongue to cast the spell.
That should do it. But now the big question...
This was what truly set
When you create your character you also have the option to set restrictions and limitations on your character whereupon the more restrictive they are the harder your gameplay would become but conversely the greater boon would be given unto you the player.
(Not in the way of boosting your experience gain rate, health, or mana but it was stated that players would find out the benefits in game)
Well since I'm a crafter it's not like i can't set any unreasonable conditions upon myself so lets go with
[Can only wield/use things/items created by the character]
[Character starts off with nothing but basic clothing]
This should do i think now all that's left is to confirm my setup and launch into the game.
