Julian could hear the movements in the room and he knew that it was Anastacia. So that meant she was not asleep the moment he came in. He cursed under his breath. Gods! Did she also know that he was drunk? He inhaled the scent in the air and his guess was as good as mine. So she knew all about it? But then why.. why didn't she react or scold him? Wasn't someone's wife supposed to do so?
Julian berated himself for having thought of such a thing. Here he was, trying as hard as he could to avoid her and his mind was questioning why she had not scolded him? That might be crazy of him, he thought. He heard her pull the table closer and his face furrowed. What the hell was she doing at this hour of the night? Curiosity got the better of him and he forced himself to turn around. But the instant their eyes met, he almost regretted it.
